I purchased the Lindy's National College Football Preview today ... I'll post their top 25 on my web site tonight.

As Jeremybozz reported, BC is ranked No. 19.  Others of note are No. 1 Mount Union, No. 2 UW-Whitewater, No. 3 Rowan, No. 7 Washington & Jefferson, No. 8 Linfield, No. 14 Thiel, No. 16 Wesley and No. 24 Christopher Newport.

Congrats to Chris Barnette (Guilford WR), Stuart Sitterson (W&L PR/KR) and Jack Martin (W&L WR) for making Lindy's 2006 All-Division III Team.  Barnette made 1st team, while Sitterson and Martin made 2nd.

They tabbed the Bridgewater-Ferrum game as one of the top five games of the year.
Yes, absolutely congratulations to Barnette, Sitterson and Martin.  I hope they all have great 2006 seasons!

There should be big crowd at Ferrum on September 16 for the BC game.  Wonder if that contest will be on-campus or moved to Franklin County HS as they did the Methodist game last fall?

How many football scholarships may D1-AA's give?  And over how many athletes will ODU spread those scholarships?

i believe I-AA schools get either 65 or 56 scholarships... they'll hand out halves and such to borderline guys and eventually give them full rides if they perform.

interesting that winston didn't get any pre-season love from lindy's. that kid's been in marcus' "shadow" for 3 years... i'm not sure he isn't as good or better. put robbie in the backfield w/ him and look out.

Yeah, I found myself looking for his name when I looked over their AA teams.  But then I realized he's our best kept "secret" (on a national scale).  Like you mentioned, he's been splitting the carries with Washington, Langley, Spence and Matthews over the last three seasons ... yet he still has 2,019 career rushing yards on only 273 carries (7.4 ypc) and 29 touchdowns.  He might have 2001 Cruz-type numbers this coming season if he ends up being the feature back.

But you can't argue with three of the four RBs Lindy's picked for AA: Union's Arcidiacono, UW-Whitewater's Beaver and Rensselaer's Bernardo.  Their fourth RB was Averett's Wilson.

They base everything on just last year's numbers, etc - and never on what a team has gained or lost.  Ferrum loses three OL and two RB's, including Mulford...

Not even one of my top five regional games of the year.

Bridgewater loses three OL (both guards and the center) and three backs ... but that doesn't mean we don't have anything coming back.  I have a feeling Ferrum will be just as good as last year, Mulford or no Mulford.  Other than the Guilford game, Ferrum-BC will be the one I look forward to the most.

Come on Kid, you know you look forward to every game, or atleast every pre-game like me. Question is, with you being married by then and the father of a 4-legged friend, will you arrive to a game prior to 10 a.m.? ;D ;D

Kid, just curious.  Why the name "Gracie"?  That is the third dog that I have heard of lately with that name (my neighbor and my boss).

Come on Kid....you didn't listen to me last year.  Since when did the MAN have to be given permission to go to games?  You're starting out on the wrong foot.  You have been warned.....twice!

Hey Kid,
Here is what a man who has been married for over 10yrs has to look forward too. Your gal Vicki Vodar will be on NFL network tonight at 8pm I believe. Show about trying out for the Tampa Bay cheerleaders. Enjoy! ;)

Well, if Lauren actually checked these message boards ... then I would have phrased it...

"Luckily, Lauren hasn't mentioned anything about me not being allowed to go to a Bridgewater game."

So basically I've spun that into; "Lauren has already given me the go on attending all the games." :)

We got her (she's 8 months now) three months ago from a couple in N.C. who couldn't keep her because of the wife's allergies.  They had named her Gracie, and we liked it.  So you'll have to ask the Greens who live in Cary, N.C. why they named her Gracie. :)

When is the "Commissar's Cup" decided for the BCAC?  When I checked the ODAC site at Bridgewater.edu it had (gasp) W&L tied for first through winter sports.  I think because the Generals generally (no pun intended) do well in the, how did that poster phrase it "country club sports" ::), we should be looking at yet another Cup!  My my how the mantle gets so full of those trophies ;D!

BTW, nobody responded to my question about admission policies (#14 vs. 4th tier)  and football recruiting pools.  Kinda like mentioning the Baby Ruth floating in the punch bowl isn't it :-[?  Oh well, we can pretend what a level playing field it is amongst all of us, can't we?

Washington & Lee University   2 time national champions in football and looking like another Commissar's Cup!!
