Ummm, I saw the poll this morning, and laughed my ass off.

"Commissioner's Cup," I think, is what was meant. ;) :D

It is a funny poll.  lol  "Commissioner's Cup" would also be my guess, but then it is only a guess since my school has never won it!

What's the difference between a porcupine and the Washington & Lee campus?

The porcupine has its pr|cks on the outside.  Just kidding, of course, but W & L 's arrogance gets to ya after awhile.

GO BC!

Q.  What's the difference between a dead possum (opossum in certain parts of the Commonwealth) in the road and a dead (insert school mascot or profession here) in the road?

A.  There are skid marks leading up to the possum!

Hey Kid,
Here is what a man who has been married for over 10yrs has to look forward too. Your gal Vicki Vodar will be on NFL network tonight at 8pm I believe. Show about trying out for the Tampa Bay cheerleaders. Enjoy! ;)

Ahhhh ... Vicki Vodar.  The one who almost broke Lauren and me up!

LOL! And you were only with her for a few fleeting minutes. :o Maybe you should look her up as it seems she is not trying out for the team this year. Although there were quite a few replacements that will hold those pom poms just fine. ;)

I love website indexes ... H-SC will announce their 2006 recruiting class tomorrow ... here is the link (that isn't "live" yet):

I like how HSC broke down each recruit by region.  I would love to see BC do something along the lines of this.

As much as I hate to admit it, I liked what H-SC did, too. ;D  I wish R-M would do the same thing, and not make such a Hardy Boys mystery out of it.

I can pretty much guarantee that Bridgewater.edu won't release a recruiting list (I don't think they ever have?) ... but if I get permission to release the list I've compiled and updated daily, then it could be within the next couple weeks that I have something on BridgewaterFootball.com.  But I certainly won't w/out the green light.  And if I don't within the next couple weeks, it won't be until August 12 (when the kids start camp) that I do. :)

I can tell you that (on paper) we have quite the recruiting class coming in.  How good?  Won't really know until 2007 or 2008.  But even with all that we're returning, a handful of these kids will likely be playing significant minutes next season.  That gives you an idea.

I also believe I can say we'll have three (maybe four) players participating in the Virginia High School All-Star Game this July.  That game features 80 of the best players in the state.  Not bad.

Did a little research (internet and asking around) regarding Sydney's recruiting class ... and this is how I'd ranked their top five recruits ...

1) QB Bobby Owens
  • Western Valley District Offensive Player of the Year
  • On Sept. 2, he passed for 409 yards and rushed for another 116

2) LB Thomas Hovis - St. Christopher's (6-4 / 200)
  • Ranked as #57-best player in the state of Virginia by The Roanoke Times

3) DL Tripp Jones - Fork Union Military Academy
  • Named to the VISAA Division 1 All-State Team 2nd Team as an offensive lineman

4) DB Jamar Lovelace - Brookville (5-10 / 175)
  • 47 tackles his senior year ... started at QB the first four games of the season

5) DB Nick Ferrara - Athens Academy

Overall, looks like a nice class - very balanced as far as positions (of course that can change once the kids get to August camp).  I'm not surprised they have close to 15 private school kids ... although not known for football (especially in Tidewater), I do think the Hovis kid mentioned above could end up being their best recruit.  I am surprised they only have six out-of-state recruits (four of which are from NC).

Only knock I have against their list is that they have so many kids from particular high schools.  Generally speaking, if you have three, four, five kids from the same school, one or two might be legit.  Sydney has five from Brookville, and three each from Mills Godwin, Richmond Collegiate, Mills Godwin and James River.  Who knows, maybe they're all legit.

Richmond has been, and probably always will be, a big Hampden-Sydney town.  Godwin and James River are public schools, while Collegiate and St. Chris are private.  There always seems to be a certain amount of kids from these schools that go to Hampden-Sydney.

Brookville is a public school in the Lynchburg area.  They never used to send kids to private schools like H-S or R-M;  E.C. Glass was the big school for that.  But Brookville has come around over the past five or six years and is now sending a lot of people to Hampden-Sydney.

Oh yeah, I know Favret knows the head coaches at Mills Godwin and Brookville real well ... and I knew Richmond Collegiate (I HATE how they went to just "Collegiate" ... they're thing to be like UVA with "The University" ... anyway ...) and St. Chris were private ... I went to Norfolk Academy, a school that's in their league (Virginia Prep League).  And when I went to NA (graduated in '99), NO ONE in our leagues (TCIS and VPL) had any good football.  Lacrosse, yes ... football, no.  But that doesn't mean there aren't a couple good players at these schools.  I went to NA with Ben Watson who is currently the starting tight end for the New England Patriots.  So yeah, there is some talent.

I know Norfolk Academy really well, and a lot of their graduates went to R-M in the '80s and early '90s.  It's a fantastic school, and the oldest private school in the state (I believe).  No wonder you got irritated at Collegiate!!
