Hello,    I am a first time poster.  I wanted to shed some light on the '82 HSC season since I was a member of that team.   The Tigers that year was led by the defense.  In fact the defensive co-ordinator was Coach Frank Miriello (sp), currently head coach at W & L.  Three of the four ODAC wins were by three points.  One of them was 3 - 0 and another was 6 - 3.  Hiter Harris was the kicker that made the difference in all of the ODAC wins that year. 

I enjoy reading the posts and I am looking forward to the upcoming season.  Surely sometime this century someone will be Bridgewater.

Is this the same Hiter Harris that's has/had an association with PNC Financial/Bank?

Honestly, how many 45 year old men could there be in Virginia named Hiter Harris?   

Better yet how many men in the US are named Hiter... I'm suprised that a 45 year old would be named Hiter.. consdering how close to WWII he was born.  (I know it was a few decades) When I first read the name I read HitLer..

True - what are the odds?  When I first saw it, I too did a double-take until I noticed it thankfully did not have an "L."  It could be worse, I guess, at least his middle name is not Hiter (or at least I don't think it is!) and hopefully his first name is nothing resembling "heil."  Guten tag und frieden!

Harris, who kicked the winning points in every Hampden-Sydney victory in 1982, has the distinction of being the only kicker to receive ODAC Player of the Year honors.  He also earned second team All-America honors in 1982, and was named Virginia State College Player of the Year by the Norfolk Touchdown Club.

He is one of only six Hampden-Sydney football players to be named an Academic All-American.  A three-year letterman, Harris was a member of the KA order and a mathematics major.

After his Tiger career, he had tryouts with the Dallas Cowboys, Houston Oilers, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and the Chicago Blitz of the USFL.

Instead of pursuing a professional football career, he attended Harvard Business School, graduating with distinction.  He went on to co-found the Richmond investment banking firm of Harris Williams and Co., which specializes in mergers and acquisitions.

Ok that's even more disturbing.. the guy was pretty good at grading papers and getting them back to us.. maybe  he had some Oompa Loompa's helping him?!?!

Hey, you don't have to be a Math major to realize the coveted spots in the Parks & Recreation major fill up fast.  I just took what was still available after the smarter (and bigger) guys got first pick!  lol  Peace
