...and there are times when 3's and 4's  give the 1st and 2nd teams a run for their money.   With the play experience from JV the 3's and 4's are often a pretty good unit by week 8.

Also something that is often not noticed is that not only does BC run 3-4 deep in skill positions but the O-line and D-line rotate 2 complete lines through out all games.  I don't know if this practice will continue now that Coach Colbert is gone but the starting offensive line was really 2 starting offensive lines meaning the 3rd/4th  team O-lines are not that far off from playing.

QuoteSniff, Sniff?  What's that smell?  The smell of charcoal heating up.  Fresh cut grass. The sound of "tops" "popping." The gathering of fans on a grassy knoll under a large tree for a day of fellowship.  Canopy's being set up.  Ice being placed in coolers.  The sight of Crimson and Gold everywhere......

Tis' the season......

Hug? Llama? Kid? Religion Major? Rugbyguy? Gal?  Time to get to work....

What about me ???We will be there Friday night-camper and all. Can't wait.

You know it Bro!! That very tent just may be set-up with beverage this coming Saturday at high noon! Anybody joining us???? ;D
Why I think that's a swell idea!!  Don't you think we all need some practice after a hot parched summer?  I know I do.  Where might you put the tent?  In the usual place?  You know--a few pictures of our ideal home situation might be helpful for those who hear about it but don't get to come and participate except at away games and at the Stagg Bowl.I'm sure I can make up a brownie or two for the occasion.  Let me know where.  I know I'm making brownies for the picnic after the practice as well. I've been out of brownie mode and out of the apt and over at my Moms (that translates to NO COMPUTER!!) since I fell and broke my left shoulder and left arm in June.  So I really need to get in some practice soon.

... sorry to hear you had an off-season injury Olinemom.  I hope you'll be in good form by the time the season starts.  Peace

Olinemom

So when did our guys come in?  Over the weekend?  I'm so out of the loop because of the stupid injuries from the fall this summer.  I'm so ready for football.  I hadn't heard about Sunshine.  That's great.  I didn't like having to face him last year against W&J.  No fun there.  I am coming to the picnic on Saturday evening.  Should I send you another e-mail at your other address?  I am baking some brownies for the guys for that evening.  It would be nice if llama, Skoal and all would get up a Tailgate for Lunch that day.  I saw it bandied about earlier in this column.  That would be a nice touch!  Now it's time for PT exercises, UUUGGGHHH.
Brownies for Film Day--Now there's a Slogan I can live with!!!:)  Go EAGLES!

Shoot, you think Emory & Henry having 80+ or Bridgewater having 70+ is a lot of newcomers to handle ... try Howard Payne having 105 new guys.  Now that's a lot.

And how could I forget PhotosforBC?  Sorry, a slight oversight on my part.  Looking forward to it.  This year should be much bigger than last year.  My guess is we'll have to be preparing for 150+ each week.  No prob!  Stone Station can handle it!

The Buccaneer.com camp notes today.....

LB Jermaine Taylor had a very physical PBU against Stovall in this same drill. Taylor arrived a beat after the ball and collided with Stovall while going for the strip. The play knocked Stovall to the ground, though Taylor quickly helped him up.

PBU = pass break up

Sounds as though he's having a good camp.  What are Jermaine's chances to make the Bucs this year?  How many guys do NFL teams keep at the final cut - 45, 49 or something like that?  I know they also have a "taxi squad" of players who can't dress for official games unless someone is put on the DL.  I can't remember all the details.

The NFL can keep 53 players on the Active Roster.  I don't remember how many "Practice Players" they can keep but I think it is under 10.

LLama, Kid, and OLINE mom,

Hope all is well in your neck of the woods and goodluck to BC this year also.  From what it sounds like they have a real nice team coming back and could very well be poised for another run at the playoffs.  I would look forward to a BC vs Thiel meeting again and also to some more of OLines moms famous brownies!!! Take care

All is well in Cleveland and also Thiel is looking tough already in camp which is exciting.
