Note:  I also posted this here because some ODAC schools play NCWC.

The Associated Press ran a story today which was carried by the Greensboro News and Record about a serious proposal to turn NC Wesleyan into the 17th NC state supported school to be renamed UNC-Rocky Mount.  It's interesting to note that this northeastern part of the state is underdeveloped economically and there is a slight void in the UNC system in the area with nothing from Raleigh (NCSU) to Elizabeth City (ECSU) and Greenville (ECU).  NCSU and ECU already teach classes on the campus and 1300 students are in continuing education while 900 are traditional age students living on the 200 acre campus.   NCWC has admittedly had some financial troubles in their 50 year history, so maybe this is a way to get and stay in the black.  To cover both sides, there is some opposition (including from UNC System President Bowles and some Methodists), but it does seem to have some serious support, especially in the Rocky Mount business community and, one would guess, within the college itself.

Hasanova, I tried to find that NCWC story online, but the only thing that caught my eye on the News-Record site was this headline...

Coming Friday: Judgement (sic) Day for Some Schools :D :o :D ;) ;D
Here's a similar story out of Raleigh.  If you google UNC-Rocky Mount, I think you will get plenty of links to this proposal.

What can I say about our public schools?  I'm glad I don't still have kids in K-12 secondary education.   lol

Judgment is listed in the dictionary as acceptable either way. We usually choose the shorter spelling in newspapers in order to save space.

Well, duh! I found the alternate spelling (with the "e") in dictionaries as far back as 1963!  I had just never paid attention! :D :D :D ;) :)

On  the Washington & Lee home page there is a mention of the Templeton Guide to colleges and character.

What is fascinating is there are several ODAC schools listed (heck the Eagles made it along with the Tigers) no suprise there, but equally interesting is who isn't listed.  Randy Mac didn't make it.  In the SCAC Centre, Sewanee, didn't make it, and the list goes on.

Just some summer reading before the season starts.

So camp finally arrives and this place starts talking about UNC Wesleyan and spelling? How about some camp updates from anybody.

Any BC fans want to go ahead and invite a W&L faithful to some Stone Station action before the big game?

I've been to most of the practices at BC.  Been posting pictures on my Summer Camp Central.

So far *knocks on wood* we haven't had any injuries since the start of camp.  We've had the usual/expected 10 or so kids hang it up.  Today is BC's annual open practice, and over 200 people RSVPed, so I'm sure there will be some Eagle fans that will weigh in on what the saw.  I'm just being cautious about what I say since I'm privy to certain information.  I will say that the young kids are developing fast, which is good to see at the DB, OL and TE positions especially.

E&H has a scrimmage today and I'm going to make the short drive up there.  So far they've had a few injuries, but nothing out of the ordinary for this time of year.  I must say the defense reminds me of the old Wasp teams that dominated and that the offense looks a lot better than last year.  Overall the Waspers are looking strong and fast.  I don't think this team is close to reaching its potential, but they look pretty good so far considering the youth.

Chiming in on the BC Pigskin Preview Kid. I did not see a thing that made me think BC would be the class of the field in the ODAC this year. It will be a seasonlong dog fight. ;)

We have no seasoned tight end, no depth at any position but wide receiver, injury-riddled at linebacker (again) and tough road games (McDaniel, Ferrum and Guilford).

Going to be a looooonnnngggg season. :-\

E&H Dad!  It's you! Finally I hear from you after all these months off.  I'm still here, just lurking in the background ready to pounce on some rookie poster bashing Bridgewater.  You know how I work.  From the looks of Llama's and Kid's posts, I think they saw something at Bridgewater on Saturday that gives me chills.  A long run into the playoffs.  I can't wait to see it pan out....

Peace! I AM the SkoalTrain.....

Don't your predictions are a little early?    Coach Clark will have this team in good form for Ferrum.. what time is that game again?  :D
