Questions for anyone...
- Have stats been posted from any of the other ODAC games? I have seen CUA, BC, and GC.
- HSC? what's the deal? I mean i knew it'd be a "down" year... but that's rough to start off with the loss. you still think it'll be an interesting game with BC or that they finish above GC??
- Anyone know the hignest number of players (from the same team) named to post season all-american teams in a single season?

P.S. Muchacho 6-1 in pick em... nice.  (I think i'm 4-3... curses SHE, HSC, WJ... shame on you all)

Top 25 notes:
- St. John's had a close one with WI- Eau Claire 15-11
- #15 W&J will drop.
- #16 Concordia-Moorhead will drop

Questions:
- How far will Salisbury move up? Can they get into top 25? were 15th on the bubble... BEHIND FERRUM (14th)!!!
- If GC has a 5-0 record headed into BC (w's over ferrum, methodist, Averett, HCS, and greensboro)... could they swing a couple points and be low on the bubble by then? Going into the season GC's sched included Ferrum (17 pts), Averett (1), HSC (3), #13 BC (273), W&L (2).

Was the BC-McDaniel score pretty indicative of how the game went? Basic domination from BC, and no threat of a comeback from McD this year?

Yeah I know what you mean. I know Coach Montgomery and have played for him. I know his defensive mind is rivaled by none. But, I do question his offense. When Dewey was Offensive Coordinator the offense was in the national top 10 in total offense, but the deffense was probably in the last 10. Montgomery is a defensive genious but a rookie on the offensive side. He played as an offensive lineman and a small one he was. I know that he was a great player in his day and that he understands the offense. I just dont think you should fix something that isnt broken. But i believe in due time he will take the wasps back to the top. I just hate it when people say that things will get better when he gets his people in there. Well what about the guys that are there now. They can win games in the ODAC.

Don't know much about EHC prior to Coach Montgomery heading there.  But, I would think two things would make him a good OC.
1)  A great DC gave him all those years watching other team's Offenses.  You have to know both sides so I wouldn't think it would be a hard transition to the other side of the ball.
2)  Being around Coach Kehres all those years and all the Mt. Union prolific offenses surly has to have given him the knowlege to coach on the O side of the ball.

Kirasdad and others...

I had an extended conversation with Monty prior to the season starting.  I have lots of conversations with coaches and I know the normal "speak."

They will improve this season.  No doubt in my mind.

That's pretty accurate 5005.  BC looked to beat them physically as well as on the scoreboard.  Baer had no time to throw and was running for his life all day long.  They took him out early in the 4th qtr as I recall.  I haven't looked at the stats, but Baer had to have had 90% of the rushing yards.

In case you haven't read the release, that was the first time since 1987 that McDaniel has been shut out.  Great job Eagle D!!!

Nice guess CBE ... Baer had 85% of his team's rushing yardage.  It's not good when their starting RB had nine total yards on eight carries.  Our defense looked great.  DBs covered the Terror receivers well, forcing Baer to run instead (he had 14 carries in the game) ... and the defensive line gave him (and the other Terror QB) trouble all day, recording five sacks and three other tackles for loss.

On the offensive side of the ball for the Eagles, Jeff Highfill (QB) was scary.  Watch out ODAC ... he averaged 15 yards a carry on seven tries (105 total rushing yards).  And he added 178 passing yards on 16-for-28 passing.  The running game as a whole was unstoppable.  Didn't matter who it was ... starting RB (4.7 yards/carry), starting FB (7.3 yards/carry), backup RB (6.4 yards/carry), third-string FB (10.0 yards/carry), and third-string RB (9.6 yards/carry).

The scary thing is I still think there is room for improvement and having Shenandoah at home next week will help work out some of the kinks.

If I heard the McDaniel radio guys correctly in the postgame show, this was the first time since 1987 that the Green Terror has been shut out of a game.  Well done DEFENSE!

I was at McDaniel and the game reports here seem pretty accurate.  BC was up 27-0, and I think that was at the half.  Final score was 41-0 in a steady, light rain.  Good to get that monkey off BC's back.

But...Winston Young went out in the first half, and did not return.  Hope it is not serious and he will not miss any more game time.  The officials stopped play about seven times for injuries to McDaniel players.  One was taken by ambulance, but I can't recall his name.  Highfill had a solid game, but I've seen him alot sharper.  Jeff had a great day running the ball, but he overthrew a few guys.  He didn't have his "A" game, IMHO.  Solid, but room for improvement.

Overall, a great effort by the Eagles.

And, of course, great job by Llama and the Stone Station crew.  Llama always brings his "A" game.

BC won, 41-0.   According to the box score the game was played in a 'light rain.'

I guess it depends on if you were actually out in that rain like I was or over in the nice media center where that person must have been ;D.  At times it misted and at other times it just plain rained.  But it doesn't feel bad when your team is doing well in all departments, especially during the first game of the season.  The O-Liners stepped up well today as did the defense.   Kept the Green Terror out of the red zone.  Congrats to Coach Soltis on a great game plan!!

Great job, you BC guys. I guess that means brownies all around.

I noticed that you have a couple new coaches, and that makes it all the better.

McDaniel's coach said on the postgame show that they needed to recruit some more players, that they just aren't at the level that they have been.  It didn't sound too promising for the Terror for this season, and didn't look too promising on the field today.

Did anyone else at the BC-McDaniel game feel like we were getting a little bit of a flashback to BC 2001 on the offensive side of the ball?    The option without fumbles, a quick running QB again, a large target in Copeland downfield, and Young doing his thing in the first half (Carter not doing too shabby in the 2nd half either).  It was only one game, but I couldn't help getting a little excited watching the offense operate on McDaniel's D.

Really, the only negative was Highfill missing badly on a half-dozen passes.  The receivers were usually open... he just overthrew 2 or 3 (including the 3rd and goal pass to a wide open receiver in the end zone), and short hopped a few of the side line passes.  That needs to be fixed by conference play, but he also made some really crisp completions too.

But sheesh... the Oline gave Highfill all day to throw the ball, and the Dline had Baer running all day.   Hard to say how good the secondary was, but I don't think they had any passes completed for over 20 yards.
