I thought I remembered reading that LaGrange would travel to BC for 2006 AND 2007, then BC would not travel there until 2008.  Does that ever happen and does anyone know for sure about going there in 2007?  Didn't BC play Shenandoah at home and then at their place a couple years in a row?  I tried to find the article in the archives from last year when they made those arrangements with LaGrange but had no luck.

I believe the Shenandoah deal was due to their stadium not being ready for play the first year and we needed a home game the next year, thus we went up there two years in a row to even things out. LaGrange has facilities so I would assume we would travel next year.

That is how I know it..  LaGrange has a great stadium!   8)

Wrighthall220  couldn't all of Stone Station just bring our pillows and blankets and have a slumber party at your place?  We could start the tailgate so much earlier that way!!
Brownies for Film Day--Now there's a Slogan I can live with!!!:)  Go EAGLES!

Sorry about my lack of talk this week. It's been a busy one.

Anyway, really looking forward to the game tomorrow. I plan to do live updates on the board for those of you who are interested. I think GC will bounce back on both sides and score a big win tomorrow.

Good luck to all the ODAC teams (even you HSC... just not too much ;)) tomorrow.

Pat...
I thought I remember reading a few days back that you were looking for thoughts on GC's O... I'd be happy to share some thoughts or info... just send me a message or leave something on here for the type of thing you are looking for.

Just got in from the weekly High School football game and hold'em tournament. Only 61/2 hours until Stone Station opens for business. ;D
We've got Steamed Shrimp, hushpuppies, corn on the cob, ham sandwiches, Olinemom's brownies and of course Communion. All key ingredients to an Eagles victory. Hope to see everyone at "The Station" in a few hours.

Go ODAC!

I think our defensive coaching is a weak point, which showed once again last week as we were totally unprepared to stop the option.  The talent is there......

[...]

I honestly think Higgison is doing a heck of a job.  Look at what McDaniel's Baer (QB) and Shenandoah's Lacey (RB) -- their team's biggest threats -- did to us last year:

Baer - 12 carries, 92 yards (7.7 yds/per) ... 16-for-28 passing, 180 yards, 1 TD
Lacey - 12 carries, 110 yards (9.2 yds/per), 1 TD

Look what they did to us this year:

Baer - 14 carries, 70 yards (5.0 yds/per) ... 7-for-17 passing, 73 yards
Lacey - 12 carries, -3 yards (-0.2 yds/per)

I think he's done a fine job against the run.  Ferrum just did a heck of a job with blocking and you have to give it to their quarterback.  Pitts has been running like that (albeit not that much) his whole career:

As a junior: 103 carries, 849 yards (8.2 avg), 9 TDs
As a sophomore: 88 carries, 483 yards (5.5 avg), 3 TDs
As a freshman: 75 carries, 392 yards (5.2 avg), 2 TDs

Whatelse would you have done different against Pitts and Ferrum?  Our gameplan was to force him to give it up.  We did that, he just didn't listen. :)

I understand what you're saying, but McDaniel and Shen are two really bad teams this year so I don't think they're good measuring sticks.  And, there are ways to defend the option, everyone has to have clear assignments.  The QB's yards weren't the ones that alarmed me, he was a heck of a player.  What got me was whenever he'd pitch the ball (including toss sweeps) we had nobody covering the pitch except a corner who was 10 yards off the ball at the snap.  Again, not complaining about a win but if we are the #8 team in the country we probably can't be giving up 500 rushing yards in a game.  And to be totally honest we looked unprepared doing it.

This board was a lot more fun when HSC was good.  These Guilford guys are too nice to talk trash on :-\

1 thing i forgot to say prior to the game...
Vogelbach will be in SI's (Sept. 25 issue) faces in the crowd. Look for it.

the announcers mentioned ... barnette is leading the nation (again) with 12.3 receptions/game

Catholic beats RMC 14-7, in another close game between these two teams. I don't know if the weather was a factor, but it looks like both offenses struggled a lot. Catholic has posted the game story here...note the improved athletics website that was a long time coming.

I would love to hear from those who attended today about the BC/LaGrange game.  The offense had a big day, but how did the defense look?

I have been on yard work detail today, and caught bits and pieces of the broadcast, so I don't have a sense of how the D stacked up today...

Bwana,

LaGrange got two big plays in the second quarter on the first team.  They scored in the final quater against the backups on a decent drive.  The defense forced four turnovers, but I think on to the big plays was a result of the DB's getting greedy.  Two DB's went up for the interception and the reciver wound up catching the ball and running it in for a touchdown.  All in all, I think it was a pretty good defensive preformance except for two plays.

Correction RM, Alex Wilkins is NOT first team and he gave up the long TD just prior to the half. Not that it really matters as a score is a score. ;)

Reaction from the HSC-GC game, anyone?  I saw Vogelbach has his usual big-stat game.  I like how H-SC won with the ground game - with Owens and Simpson, that's very smart.  Two of their better athletes.  All the Tigers had to do was get a lead then run, run, run.  Anyone actually go to the game (I'm going off the box score - also listened to the final eight-or-so minutes once the BC game was over).

As far as BC goes, a great day for the offense.  Showed a little bit of everything with only one goof (a Carter fumble - dragging a couple players and a third came in and popped it out).  Other than that, nice game.  Nice to see the BC defense hold LaGrange to -3 yards rushing.  Like Llama said, the two 2nd quarter TDs were given up because DBs went for the INT (which they should have gotten) but missed - open field to the end zone for the WR once caught.  Can't do that against ODAC teams.  BC scored in chunks (30 unanswered to start the game, and 28 unanswered to start the second half) ... so the game was never in doubt (as it shouldn't have been).  I liked seeing the younger guys in the fourth quarter.  Had we not given up the two late second quarter TDs, we would have seen them earlier.  All in all, played well.

I bet it was tough for the BC players to get up for this game with H-SC and GC looming around the corner.  You better believe the Eagles will be focused this week for Homecoming next Saturday.  I think the Tigers will bring a balanced run-pass game to Jopson - something that will give them a good chance of winning.  Can't wait!!

Disappointing.  I'm glad to see 173 yards rushing by the Quakers on 28 attempts to go with the 379 yards passing, but one of the two Interceptions by the Tigers was returned for a 26-yard TD.   After four games the Quakers have scored 153 points, but surrrendered 148.  Please find a Defense and we can win some games.
