I always figured the HSC posters were friends and family of the Ricca's but I guess I was wrong.. they'd still be here supporting CUA if that were the case.. my best guess is that the posters we've had the past few years were PLAYERS.. who couldn't back up all of their talk...  :D

I'm not sure if it's a local commerical here in GA but have you all seen the Yella Fella?   :D    I guess he was a HSC football player!  ;)

They have scholarships now. They're phasing in to reach the NEC limit of ... I think it's 30.

It is 30 scholarships.  Then they'll evaulate if the NEC wants to add more over time.  I believe the D1-AA limit is 68 scholarships (ie. U Del, Richmond, James Madison).  The primary reason the NEC added scholarships is because no non-scholarship D1-AA program has ever received an at-large bid to the NCAA playoffs.

interesting take by the quaker fan in around the region. in essence, "i'd rather pass and lose than run and win"... that's one of those things you read over and over and each time you finish you look confused and say "HUH?!"

granted i get the point that guilford football is "fun" finally. but still... HUH?!
"99% ain't good enough"

I've always thought a long run is more exciting than a long pass.. maybe that comment was made out of frustration over an incomplete offense?

Does anybody (CBE?) have an update on Mr. Taylor's Motown Adventure?

I read he was supposed to meet with Lions' coaches yesterday.  Did it happen?  How did it go?

We are still with ya, JT!

I'm living proof that HSC fans still read the board, just haven't had too much to talk about so far this season.  The Tigers still struggle on the defensive side of the ball, offensive seems to be improving week to week. Both freshmen QB's have made mistakes but both have shown the ability to play at the DIII level. Overall the Tigers will do well to finish 3rd in the conference with an outside chance at 2nd. I attended the Guilford game last Saturday and I must admit; I don't understand all the hype. Their defense makes HSC's look pretty good and their offense is good, not great.

Good luck to all of the Eagle fans attending the game this weekend ; may the food be good, the drink be cold, and the game be at least competitive.

That's not what I said, so you should not put it in quotation marks implying I did.  Of course I'd rather win.   If I thought the Quakers could do it by running, then that's the best "asset" to use.  As you said, Quaker football is fun again.  I think our best chance to win is by passing, but if we're going to lose I'd rather do it in an exciting, high-scoring fashion rather than with a dull, unimaginative offense.  Read it again, please, and I think you'll see what I meant.

I think they're equally exciting.  You have a running game, we don't.  So dance with who "brung" you.

But I've ALWAYS felt that way.. even as a kid playing flag football and as a coach.  The run is more fun!  :D ;)

By the way.. if the Guilford O-line can pass block.. why can't they run block?   ???

Someone quoted Woody Hayes as saying when you pass three things can happen and two of them are bad.  First of all, Woody Hayes was an a$$whole.  Secondly, he didn't live long enough to see how often the officials call pass interference nowadays.  So when you pass four things can happen and two of them are good or two are bad depending on whether you are a cup is half-full or cup is half-empty kinda guy.  I agree with Hasanova's point, that a coach should go with whichever he is more comfortable.  Obviously, a mix of pass and run is best.

Another point to consider, a long pass and a long run are both exciting if you are a fan of the offensive team.  However, if a penalty is called on a long pass play, it is usually against the defense.  If a penalty is called on a long running play, it is usually against the offense.

If your team is on defense, then a tackle for lost is better than either a long pass play or a long run play.  Captain obvious will now get back to work.

As someone who played Oline my entire football career I've always felt the long run reflects better on how well the line blocked and as such it was more exciting to me and still is to see a long run..I'm not trying to be an anti-pass-ite but passing just isn't as fun!  ;)
