It takes a while for any new HC to establish a system, unless the team was strong to begin with.  Tom Mueller at Texas Lutheran went 2-8 in '02 and '03, 7-3 last year as the kids he recruited came to the fore.  Steve Mohr went 1-9, 1-9, 2-8 at Trinity before leading the school to its first winning season (6-4) in a decade.   So good grief, folks, have just a little patience with Montgomery.

And a little closer to home (the E&H folks will forget this because they were too busy winning the ODAC in those years) Mike Clark had several 0-10 seasons before going 5-5 in 1999 and making the playoffs every year since at Bridgewater.  It takes to to build a program. ;D

23Dangerzone!  Won't be making the trip to Hanover.  I don't have 18 hours in me to drive that far.  Nor would the wife allow it.

I'm looking forward to Oct. 1st.  in Farmville.

BC by 21 this coming weekend.  Too many weapons and from that stats I see, Hanovers' D is lacking.

I almost forgot:

I am E&H's Stepson, The SkoalTrain.....Peace!

agreed, but that last 5-5 team really got after us down at Fullerton. Chris Ratcliffe had to block a long field goal to win the game, regardless of the final score, there was no let down in that team until the final buzzer.

As for being critical of the effort, this is not peewee football where everyone gets to play and you can not critique. It is still COLLEGE football, those are not 12 year olds on the field. Sensitivity should go right out the door when you lose 2 games by a combined 50 points and only rush for 23 yards combined.

Thanks BC for whipping SU and making them mad!!!

Thanks...a whole bunch!! :-[

Just make sure the CNU coaches put in the cheerleaders at the end of the game so the SU faithful don't whine about you running up the score.

In Defense of Frenjr:
I agree with all the discussion about giving Monte a chance ...however my perception, as well as that of the preseason E&H posters, was that since the Todd woods era the wasps have been significantly more competetive and expectations were that there should be some immediate improvement.

From what I've seen so far it reminds be of Jimmy johnson coming into Miami with Marino at QB determined to have a ground game whether he had the horses or not.  I've never been a coach or even very smart, but it seems some coaches are gifted with making use of the talent they have while building where they want to go.

It's none of  my concern, but frankly, i'm surprised there is so much discension in wasper city. It's too early to get excited but this is not what I expected at all.

I am not saying that you should not be critical when effort is lacking all I am saying is that it will take time until E&H can challenge for the ODAC title.  I look forward to the prospect of an all around better ODAC and good luck with the building of the E&H football program. ;D

;D nah, just using those Bridgewater teams as an example. Bridgewater is a classic example. You can go 0-10 and be garbage (which some pre Mike Clark teams were), or go 0-10 and get after people, which leads to better things. I think Monty will turn it around, but it is obvoius that the turnaround won't happen with these upperclassmen.

This is not the underswell that alot of people around EHC already want Montgomery gone, far from it... the man completely replace the staff and is being paid well. Because of his presence, EHC is putting in a new dorm (mostly to handle the large number of incoming freshmen) for the first time since Hillman went in 40 years ago. He has carte blanche and the alumni's blessing to go out and do whatever he feels is vital to turn the team into a yearly national championship contender. If he is weeding out the rats, so be it... but that was not EHC football on saturday...that was Guilford football.

The unanswerable question is how did it get so bad. How do you go from recruiting elite D3 players like Sandy Rogers, Gary Collier, Patrick Buchannan, BI Salyers, JD Davis, Jamie Harless, Chris Barbour, Aaron Fuller, John Carmody, Peedee Peterson, Oliver Jordan, Mikey Hughes, and Nathan Tuck to what I saw Saturday in such a short time.

I believe it is the curcumstance of to two issues. 1) The aging coaching staff at E&H (albieit a great staff in its hayday). It means alot to kids these days to actually have coaches at their games, especially higher quailty ones that may be worthy of a scholarship somewhere bigger. 2) The emergence of new State run D3 Football programs.(ie. Shenandoah, CNU) Regardless of the tuition argument, what kid doesn't want to go play under the bright lights, and in a shiny new Stadium if given the opportunity. Just my 0.02 cents worth.

I was surprised not to see Marcus Washington's name on Week 2 Team of the Week.  I know his yardage was less than last week but he had a hand (literally) in 5 of the 7 touchdowns.  Oh well, some good performances listed as well.

Neon Deon!  I've got to pick and choose my games wisely.  Farmville is only 45 mins. from Lynchburg so you know that's on the list.

Let me know!!!!

Rugbyguy will be there along with most of the "Stone Station" contingent.

Has to be really frustrating to have a coach come in and refuse to do things that team can do well and lose when they could be competitive or better yet winning.

Reminds of a certain situation I had to play through. The pain! Still pretending it never happened.(playing for playoffs in last game, 3-7 next?)

There's nothing more frustrating. If you have a kid who can throw it for 300 yards a game and he is handing off for 1 up the middle every game, you have to start worrying that the new coach has no clue. E and H guys should be pissed about this situation. This will kill the program.

My way or the highway only works for guys who go 10-0 in their sleep.
