I abstain.  Generally, I think some of these polls do little other than tabulate the number of posters from each school.  :)

Snakehandler

hasa,

I haven't voted yet. Having not seen Guilford play this year, I am inclined to give them the nod. Can you talk me out of it?

ALAKAZOO...ALAKAZAM...ALAKAZAK...who has the best team in the ODAC?!?!

Drum roll please................and the winner is: HAMPDEN-SYDNEY TIGERS OF COURSE!!!

Ok..ok...I'll be serious. As much as I would like to give the award to H-SC or W&L or E&H or GC or CUA or hell, even Macon  ;D... the award goes to the Bridgewater Eagles. IMHO...they would give the ODAC the best shot at winning a first round playoff game.  Why? Because: 1) even though they may be down a little, they are still a pretty darn good football team. 2) they are playoff tested. 3) they thumped the team last week that most thought (and may still win) had a lock on the title. 4) no other ODAC team has asserted itself enough to lay claim to the throne. Even the teams that beat BC did not get it done against other teams that are probably average.  I will say this though. The rest of the ODAC is closing the gap fast. I think there will be parity in the ODAC for at least the next few years.

The NCAA regional rankings were released.  After W&L was ranked No. 9 last week in the South, they only dropped to No. 10 after losing to Bridgewater.

I wonder why BC (or another school) wasn't ranked No. 10?

He gets karma from me for the incantations.  I'll second the analysis as well, but always have liked a little magic when forecasting on this site. ;D

That's Bogus Man! Use Putty's voice from Seinfeld when saying that.

I think the Quakers have some weaknesses on special teams and defense (as evidenced by the AU and W&L defeats) and Vogelbach's heavy interception total.  Until we play E&H, I'm not sure.  It looks as though everyone in the conference has some weaknesses based on BC over W&L, W&L over GC, GC over BC, E&H over BC, HSC over E&H, etc.  I don't know who to say is the strongest, but I don't think it's Guilford and I've personally seen them play four times and once on video.  Your guess is as good as mine.  :)

I cannot comment with authority on GC-Q either, but they are one sight better than they were 2 years ago.

They are still in the hunt (barely) with 2 games to go that says something for that program

Oh, absolutely no argument there.  There is a world of difference from 2+ years ago.  The question is whether they are the best in the ODAC and I have some doubts.  Like you, however, I have no doubts about the great improvement.

Bangwell

With Sitterson/Paciccio/Ward out last week W&L's offense was severely hampered...not to mention a banged up D-Line which got run all over (even healthy they are still the Gennies glaring weakness)...alot of young guys were forced to step up in a place that I found quite tough to play at on the road.  Neutral site and a healthy squad, I give the nod to the Generals this year.  From what I hear Sitterson should be back in full strength next week versus Emory.  Generals by 2 TD's.

Sounds like the story of a lot of teams.  Nothing new.

Bridgewater has been playing without one of our best offensive threats (Blake Warring) and defensive studs (Antwaine Campo) all season.

At least you had Ward and Pacicco on the field for part of the game.

And it wasn't even your "banged up offense" that didn't show up.  Where was this hyped up defense?  Had it not been for the ridiculous 40-mph winds, it could have been 41-8 or worse.

For those of you familiar with Guilford County, Eastern Guilford HS has been burning since 2:30 this afternoon.  At this point, the firefighters have given up and are just letting it burn.  Reports say it started in a Chemistry Lab and the teacher was unable to put it out when he discovered it.  He pulled the alarm and, thankfully, no students or faculty were injured, but a few firefighters have been hurt.  The fire is so bad, students and staff were not allowed back at the school to get their cars from the parking lot.  Students are out tomorrow and Friday at least until school administrators decide what to do.  I'm sure some options are doubling up at EG Middle School, GTCC (community college), other area HS's and so forth, but it'll be a big mess since EGHS has over 1000 students.  The news reports say the school is a total loss.  It is, among other things, the alma mater of St. Louis Rams/NCSU alumnus Torry Holt.  This is certainly not as important as the school itself and its academic significance, but I would expect a major disruption in EGHS's athletic schedules as well.  Good luck to all of them!
