!!!! Just let it go, man.  Shenandoah and Guilford cheated !!!!!

I must say on behalf of the cheaters!!!! Not my words.. But sometimes there are actually innocent circumstances the bring these things on... And yes they should have nore knowledge of incoming players but some times IT happens...

This is not just a DIII problem. Probably just not as profitable as DI cheaters...
Football !!! The ultimate team sport. Anyone who plays DIII football is a winner...

i'm going to let the guilford situation go after this last comment...'nova, please don't take offense, but i think the question needs to be asked...

does anyone think guilford, a school rooted and founded in the quaker tradition, would have forfeited the games rich played in if they weren't in the thick of an odac race?

su self-imposed the forfeit last year because they apparently felt it was the right thing to do given the circumstance that they were in and given the wording of the ncaa bylaws pertaining to the use of an ineligible player - no other school turned them in, and quite honestly, from what i understand after receiving an email from someone who works at su, the infraction probably would have never been known had su not self-reported the incident - i have a lot of respect for su which, quite honestly, i didn't previously have - many on the usasac board hammered su for allowing this to happen last year, but now i think most have the utmost respect for the su program for the steps they took to rectify the situation and do the right thing

i would expect a school like guilford, which has such a history and tradition of honesty and integrity, to acknowledge that they used an ineligible player, knowingly or not, and take the steps to rectify the matter in accordance with ncaa bylaws...i'm afraid that i think the heat of the odac race and the possibility of the first quaker ncaa trip are superceding integrity and clouding judgement - it seems that guilford is simply saying "it's not our fault, so we shouldn't be punished", and it also seems that many on this board and the odac conference take a similar view - i would expect that type of attitude at a big-time athletic factory, but not at a school and in a conference that, in my mind, have to this point been models for all that is right with division 3 athletics

i'm moving on now...hope i haven't offended any guilford or odac fans too badly

p.s. - in case anyone wonders, dion rich did not play against mc, according to the game participation section of the mc/gcq box-score, so a forfeit would not benefit the monarchs

Sepiku....ritual suicide....no school except SU is going to do it especially if they think they did not do it. You said it......playoff dough. I mean look at what SMU did and they still had to be taken out back and shot behind the ear.

Rectify. Lets see. Toss the kid out of school because I know he knew and did not give a frig. Kill the coach that handles academics along with the toadie in admissions.

That being said......I would do that for (cannot believe I am saying this) even those dreaded Hank Norton Mutants, the Panthers. ;)

I know if Brian Person was still at GC-Q I would be calling for the eviseration and quartering of some admission toads and that registras office.

You know I love you (not man love) and respect you but it BS.

Narch,

I don't know you, and I have no dog in this fight, being from the west coast, but I think you're spot on with your opinion. It truly surprises me that this is happening in D3. It wouldn't surprise me in D1, but not in D3!

I don't think one can fault the registrar either. Isn't it the responsibility of the AD, or someone in the football program to verify eligiblity? There can't be too many players with a "missing" year, so it shouldn't take an inordinate amount of time.

At my college we had a player who was ineligible years ago, due to a paperwork error on the part of the college, and we had to forfeit a game in which he played. He was only a freshman and played on a special team.  It was a tough lesson to learn for an innocent mistake, but you can be sure it never happened again. Rules are rules, though, and we didn't whine or ask for special treatment. The ODAC situation amazes me, and not in a good way.

Like Narch, I hope I didn't offend anyone, but this deal is bizarre, particularly for D3.

Thanks for sharing these links.  I see that both articles were written by the same reporter from Landmark News Service, so if you read the Roanoke article, you've read the Greensboro article.

Big games on tap tomorrow.  Only HSC plays non-conference.

E&H vs. W&L will be a live video webcast this weekend.  Just go to the EHC homepage and follow the link on the right hand side (www.ehc.edu). Let's go Waspers!

I watched part of the Guilford/W&L game a couple weeks ago on the live video feed from my office.  It was really choppy and froze numerous times (and I'm on a LAN server).

Hopefully it wasn't just me, because having the ODAC do video streaming of games would be awesome.

It wasn't just you.. at times it froze on me or dragged a bit.  I'm on a DSL service that's pretty quick and it still had problems.  I did really enjoy SEEING a D3 game this year though.. my second game will be the Stagg Bowl.. pretty lame year.   Anyway, the broadcast was very cool and I thought it was pretty funny to hear the commentators talking between radio station breaks.   :D

Haha, I thought that was funny too.  You know they had to have known, and yet some of the things they said and talked about made you think they didn't.

Kid,
Did you happen to catch the weird live feed from the VT game back in 2002 on BC's Cable?  In Wright Hall we had a feed from the VT game that was from ESPN that wasn't the actual TV feed, it never went to commercial and was about 20 seconds ahead of what was happening on the ESPN feed.  It was bizzare, the W&L/GC game reminded me of it.  While the commercials were playing the audio was of the announcers just shooting the breeze and the images were from different cameras aroudn the stadium.. which of course were zooming in and on certain college girls.  It was very, very weird but funny at the same time...

The E&H vs W&L game will air on WDRL TV at 4:30 PM Saturday. I will be watching.

QuotePrevious Question: Who is the best ODAC team this year?

I'm a BC fan, and I think it's BC   14 (36.8%)
I'm a BC fan, and I don't think it's BC   4 (10.5%)
I'm not a BC fan, and I don't think it's BC   16 (42.1%)
I'm not a BC fan, and I think it's BC   4 (10.5%)

Total Voters: 38

I think this "proves" that BC fans believe in BC, and non-BC fans don't.

Shocker. :)

I'm a BC fan and I know we lost 2 games but they were pretty close games (not making excuses) and I think that if they were to be replayed BC would fair pretty well.  (not saying we SHOULD have won either)   I'm proud of the guys this year.. they took their lumps, didn't make excuses and came out and played hard against W&L and I think they will play well the next two weeks.   It's funny how a potential 8-2 season is disappointing. ;)

Yeah, I just wish we could have that EHC game back.  It is one of those things that was just a complete organizational failure that day:

The players didn't play well.  The coaches didn't coach well.  The cheerleaders probably didn't cheer well.  Hell, I grilled like sh*t at the tailgate.  Just wasn't our day.

wrighthall220

Can't complain too much about the EHC game though.. when you have a player commit a personal foul in the last 4 minutes and then you have two WR open in the endzone only for them BOTH not go for that ball... the BC comeback magic just wasn't there!  :P
