Holy crap. Even the equipment manager!!! Wow. And what was up with that DB in the back row? Where in the heck was he looking?

Kid & Rugby,

I think I'm most worried about #16 in that GMU link.  Not on the football field, but worried for mankind in general.

Hahaha ... well, good news (football field wise) ... he isn't on the gameday roster I received yesterday.  Bad news is, he is unaccounted for ... which means he could be anywhere doing anything  :o

From what I've heard, they have six legit D1-AA players ... here are pics of three of them:

B.J. Quigley
6'1'' 200-lb QB

Dwayne Punter
6'0'' 205-lb RB

Tim Coogan
6'4'' 350-lb OL

Their other studs are their leading rusher (Tyrone Nunnally - 5'9'' 200-lb RB), leading receiver (Ray McCarter - 6'1'' 175-lb WR) and leading tackler (Jeff Remick - 5'11'' 200-lb LB).

from what i've heard the water has 20

Mason's head coach - Joe Pascale - also knows the ODAC well.  He was the head coach at Catholic from 1972 to 1984, going 66-46-1, during which he took it from a club team (72-76) to a varsity one (77-84).

One of his quarterbacks at the time - Steve Stanislav - set the school record for passing yards in a game, 465.  Oddly enough it was against Bridgewater in 1980, the same year Bridgewater won their first ODAC title.

Pascale is 2-4 versus Bridgewater; 14-7 CUA (1978), 16-0 BC (1979), 34-31 BC (1980), 26-15 BC (1981), 14-13 BC (1982) and 17-14 CUA (1983).

Interesting that Catholic is ranked 9th in the nation in passing yards a game, despite being 0-3.

The eight teams above them in the rankings have a combined record of 13-4.

The only other "defeated" teams in the Top 20 (for passing yards) are Louisiana College (6th) and Texas Lutheran (20th) who have a combined 0-4 record, with three of their losses coming to #2 Mary Hardin-Baylor, #4 Hardin-Simmons and #13 Trinity (TX).

Maybe Kid is on to something (IRT to GMU) but I cannot see a close game. Unless BCs QB trips on one Skoal's PBR beer bottles.  ;) Per this link (date unknown) they seem very excitable about football.

Unfortunately for Catholic kid...they also probably rank high in interceptions thrown. I believe they have 10 thrown in 3 games. That was one reason why they lost to McDaniel, and also why the score against Augustana looked so lopsided. Keith Ricca will be great when he eliminates some of the mistakes he is making right now.
On that note...if you look at the ODAC statistics, the conference as a whole has a very negative turnover differential. W&L seems to be the only team that does a good job of taking care of the ball, while also creating turnovers defensively. This probably has something to do with the ODAC's bad winning percentage to start this year out.

Yeah...tough competition in that Seaboard conference...a school for the deaf, a school for undisciplined delinquents that need a military atmosphere to straighten them out and two schools for air-conditioning repair men.

I wouldnt sleep on George Mason this week.  I dont think the game really matters(except to stay healthy and get ready for next week) but GMU has alot of players on their roster from the northern va schools.  They always had good talent when i played them in high school.  Not to say they will beat BC or even give them a great game, but im sure they have some talent.

On that note....BC by 42.  :)

Pat Coleman

Traditionally this team has a few studs who could make just about any D-III roster and several people in the starting lineup who couldn't start for the last-place team in the ODAC. The talent level varies widely.

Had I been arguing Mason's "conference" play, then you'd have a good point.  But I wasn't.

Having talked with the head coach, he wants to play as many DIII or better teams as he can.  Needless to say, not many want to take him up on his offer.

Catholic has nine in three games (the NCAA stats site reports that).  That's as many per game as the other Ricca (HSC) has thrown.

Just like the last 3 years, there's one game that matters... Sydney.  Win it and you go to the playoffs.  Lose it and you don't.  Nobody else in the ODAC will beat B'water or HSC; and with losing to McDaniel, we don't go anywhere if we don't win the conference.

So it's great to talk all this every week, but in the end there's only one game that matters.

Outsider14

that's not true. bridgewater at 8-2 w/ 2 losses to playoff teams (if mcdaniel keeps winning) and scoring 40+ points per game and 500 yds of offense a game and the history they have in the playoffs would be tough to ignore. of course that's all hypothetical. that's a pretty hefty monkey that's been riding them tigers... and w/ BC's offense clicking like it is... MAN, i'm hoping we have that day off so i can get off the plane from rutgers and head straight to farmingville or whatever its called (sorry i really can't recall the town; no offense intended)

Agree, but would it be 8-2 or 7-2?  From what I read on this board a few months back this George Mason game essentially is a scrimmage.  As I understand it the win and any stats we accumulate do not count for anything and will not be added to our team or individual season results.  Somebody correct me if I'm wrong here.

And that preppy all-BOY school that we all love so much is located in Farmville, VA.  Hope to see you there next week.  It's gonna' be wild.
