It's not a game, you are correct. If Bridgewater doesn't win the ODAC this year it will be 7-2 overall, and 6-2 in-region.

Kid, the departure of Austin College to the SCAC leaves the ASC with only 9 teams, much more need of non-conference games and some scheduling flexibilty for some South Region opponents.  As I review the D3 history of the ASC, there has been no non-conference ASC opponent east of Huntingdon.  Lots of Wisconsin, West Coast and even D-2's, but nothing off the East Coast.

Maybe we can see a BC-HSU or a BC-UMHB game. :)

To the players, coaches and fans it is.  I could careless if D3football.com had the game on it's schedule or if the NCAA didn't recognize it.  Our players will still play, our coaches will still coach, and our fans will still cheer! :)

Not to mention this game meaning a whole lot to Mason.  Most likely the the biggest game since they started their club program.  DIIIers can dismiss the game all they want, but to the 50 or so kids on the Patriots' squad (and the coaches and parents), it means a lot.

With BC going 6-2 in region, I have a 9.5 Quality Index projection. This would rank them in th 35-40 range. I don't think that will cut it.

Oh well, guess we'll just have to rain on Sydney's parade again and lock the deal down.  Just the same as it's been the past two years after our early season losses, it's do or die.

Our guys will win.  You know it.  I know it.  And no matter what they try to tell you, deep down inside HSC knows it too.   8)

What makes this game the biggest game since they've started their club team? What makes playing Bridgewater any different than any other game for GMU. It might be some of the better talent they've played against, but why does it make it any bigger of a game for them?

Yes, everyone is preparing like it is a game Kid.  BUT, I think this discussion was linked to playoff criteria.  I know Outsider mentioned that 8-2 with losses to 2 playoff teams would warrant consideration, and I agree.  But 7-2...well, that may just put BC behind the 8-2 teams.  And there may be a lot of 8-2 teams this year.

First ranked opponent (in any Division) that they've faced.  Not to mention, like you did, the step up in talent from the level they face vs other club teams.

Had we played Linfield ... it still wouldn't count.  We'd still be 6-2 (if we lose to HSC) in region.

You're right that it wouldn't count in the primary criteria for playoff selection.  But it would count in several areas of the secondary criteria, which can be used to seed teams more accurately, or put one bubble team in the playoffs while keeping another one out.

I posted a simplified version of the playoff criteria on the USAC board, page 21 for anyone that's interested.

What happened with the BC/Hanover game last weekend??  ??? Is there something wrong with the defense this year?  I have also heard through the grapevine that they have been making some moves and adjustments defensively this week?

Man, am I out of the loop or what?!

The BC Photo person for Kid's website should make it down to the E&H game this weekend, we are gonna have another great crowd! ;)
