Is Lamar still standing on the side of  I-64 after the golf team kicked him off the van or did some one finally go pick him up ?

Good question! I know that red prelude gave me a ride back to BC more than once from Players in my time at Bridgewater.  ;D

Bridgewater played King's in the playoffs a few years back.  They had a hell of a defense.  I remember it as the best D BC played against.  I recall we were fortunate to win the game.

I agree, pakownr97.  They had two All-American d-linemen that year, but I was equally as impressed with their linebackers.  Those were some big dudes!
Wasn't that the game with the "Divine Wind" at the end that blew away a FG attempt on the last play of the game?

Bwana,

Yep, I believe it was.  "The Divine Wind Game."  I missed the "Ice Bowl" but I didn't miss "The Divine Wind Game."  Let's not talk about "The Divine Wind Bag" Bette Midler.

The stuff legends are made of...

;D

shoot, I thought Lamar Neal was the Divine Windbag...

That's true.  And I bet it took you awhile to come up with someone less pretty than Ms. Midler.

God, We had Lamar Neal and Wayne Geisert.  Why do I have such fond memories of Bridgewater?

;D

Besides Flagpole, Jess's, the Yard, and Bob-a-ria's , etc., I am sure it is the cafeteria food that leaves such fond memories.
NO, Tusky, You cannot MOON Dr. Geisert!

On a slow Sunday I was cruising the websites of the ODAC teams.  I noticed HSC had a new DC.  I then checked the list of coaches and found Cris Bell is no longer listed.  Anybody know what happened?

WLU,

I brought up the same question a week or two back. Someone responded that they though he may have been let go. I thought it odd that there was nothing in the Farmville Herald  about him leaving so that might make sense. I'm sure it's tough being a DC in a system like H-S's. I do have a few connections at H-S  but have been so busy lately with life, that I haven't had a chance to look into. Whatever the case, I wish Chris well.

Thats HILAROUS! Maybe they should take attendance at the start of the game and then again after the 2nd half starts. The 3 games at W&L that I have attended the stands were packed at the start. Interestingly and quite enjoyably, I watched the parents day crowd head across the bridge at halftime. I say enjoyably because it was quite fun watching all those sundresses parade by me.  ;D Funny thing was only about a quarter of those fans returned for the second half. Could that be because the Eagles whip the Generals on the field ???

Was surfing around some websites and saw a blurb on DCRTV.com that Jim Ricca has passed away. He obviously was the grandfather of Kevin, J.D., and Keith, and the father of John Ricca. The Riccas are a tight family with a love for football that started with their grandfather. I know everybody on this board knows the Riccas, if not personally, through their play on the field. My prayers are with the Ricca family.

That is the funniest set of stats I've seen in a long time!  W&L averaging 2930!  Where is Emory & Henry?  Those guys claim to have over 5000 at every home game.  Needless to say, I'm taking those numbers with a grain of salt.  What a joke!

See W&L's stadium below on a Home Football Weekend.  Must be parents day?

As you can tell, I didn't pay that much attention.  And that's what makes it even more funny.  If Emory & Henry averaged 4,059 people then I've got a couple bridges I want to sell you......Amazing but Not True.

Ahh, memories.  I remember before the 2005 season hearing about how Emory & Henry has one of the top attendances in the nation (at least in 2004, they did).  So we joked on here about it and said how we'd count how many were there when BC traveled down there in 2005.  We counted and took pictures and there were only 1,000-or-so fans (they always say about 4,000 per game).  The box score said there were around 1,700.

Funny they chose to be honest that game with their attendance, seeing for their other four home games in 2005 they averaged nearly 4,500 fans. :D

If I can find the picture we took, I'll repost it.  It's fun to revisit the inflated Emory & Henry attendance figures every year. :)

Honestly, I believe the averages for Bridgewater, Hampden-Sydney and Washington & Lee.  If anything, those three schools undershoot their attendance.  But Emory & Henry is just plain funny.

I believe it's on a post on the board if you wander back to the appropriate timeframe.

I don't know how H-SC calculates their numbers but I suspect it is difficult to get an accurate number. They charge admission by the car as you enter the campus. There are only two ways to get on campus so that part would be easy enough to figure if you had someone counting at those two locations. Problem is, many people are there  before the entrances are manned. (students, early tailgaters, girlfriends, frat bimbos, well you get the idea  :D ) The area around the field is so spread out it is practically impossible to get an accurate head count. And the question comes up as to whether people in tailgating areas that never leave should be counted? Even though they technically can see the field.  ;D  8) ;D 8)

Hmm, they must've known the attendance police were coming -- just 1,734 claimed in the box score.

Well, here you go...

I counted 286 fans on the home side (in the bleachers and standing around the field) during the second quarter.  Llama counted just fewer than 100 in the visitor's stands.  We threw in (just for good measure) another 50 who watched the game from their cars ... and another 50 who just tailgated the whole time (by the way, there were probably no more than that many that tailgated from both schools because of the weather).

So that gives us a grand total of 286+100+50+50 = 486 ... and we will be nice and round up to 500.  And actually, since we didn't account for those using the restrooms, at the concession stands, or in campus buildings ... we will throw in another 100 people (an obvious overshoot).

So that brings our (our being Llama and I) EHC-BC game attendance to 600.

So you all tell me (and below are pics of the home and visitor bleachers during the 2nd quarter), where are the extra 1,134 people they are counting?!
