Hey Pat, how's it going? Long time no see. Don't know who the W&L guy is. Probably just picked that hat up at a yard sale somewhere.  ;D ;D

Now Allsky you know they don't sell those kind of things at a yard sale. I'm sure it was donated to a Charity fundraising event held at a local Country Club dinner.  ;D JK

Now as for a BC hat, I see those worn proudly all the time at Pizza Hut and Walmart. ;)

What WAS I thinking Llama?!  :o A hat of that stock wouldn't be caught dead at a yard sale.  ;D   Now a MC Fighting Scots hat can be found just about anywhere, but commonly atop a cowboy boot wearin, Copenhagen dipping, truck drivin, good ole TN boy. Of course the hat must be rotated regularly with a TN Vols cap or the wearer risk being exiled to a Florida swamp.  ;D
W&L folks.... we wouldn't pick on you if we didn't like you.   ;)

Walmart doesn't let me wear my BC hat when I am working anymore.  I can wear it when I am delivering pizzas, but I have to take it off when I get out of the Pinto to take the pizzas to the customers' door.

This may have been discussed in the past...

BUT...

Who is wearing the Washington & Lee hat in the background on ESPN's Pardon the Interruption?  I have no clue.

Good eye!! I had never noticed, but then I can count on one hand the number of times I have seen the show.  You can queue it up on espn.com and see it plain as day.  I am working on finding out if it is just random or if there is a story behind it.

I'd be interested in this story, too.  W&L got thousands of dollars of free air time and publicity by having that hat exposed.

they had just switched drivers an hour before the accident.
and one of the players heard the driver's wife scream "this is not the highway."  The signage there is terrible and the last set of overhead signs don't say anything about there being an exit.  There have been soooooo many accidents at that place and 2 prior deaths.  I sure hope they do something.  Seeing those 4 young men lined up under sheets will stay with me forever.  http://www.ajc.com has a lot of information about the accident and investigation  if you are interested.

The streets in and around Atlanta are horrible when it comes to street signs and how the streets are set up.  (I honestly don't think ATL has one road that doesn't curve every few hundred feet)  It took me at least 2 months to get used to the HOV and city streets here in ATL.. the signs are not very clear and the HOV lanes are actually the most confusing lanes to be in on 85 and 75.     There are several places where HOV lanes exit and merge with traffic that make absolutely no sense and are not clearly marked.   GA DOT really needs to reconsider how they develop roads here in ATL and they MUST go back and redesign the sign set ups.   One thing I AM impressed by is the fact that motorists jumped from their cars to help at the scene of the accident.    Very sad, but it is nice to know there are people that care enough to endanger themselves to help others still.

But how many people honestly noticed the logo on the hat?   ODAC alumni know what the logo is but outside of the world of small colleges I would imagine most wouldn't notice it.    I TiVO  PTI nightly  and I believe the hat appeared around November if I remember correctly.. of course I missed that particular episode!  >:(

On the topic of Georgia.. who here is planning on attending the LaGrange game this season?  I traveled by the town on my way back from a wedding this weekend (a W&L grad got married.. Blue and White Generals napkins were used for the bar areas)  and it seems to be about 45 mins south of Atlanta.   Now that I'm in the ATL area I'm more than willing to help with the food/drinks for tailgating!    8)  The weather for a September game should be pretty nice.. it's a cool 70F here today.

W&L has more of a national reputation than most people realize.  I'd say that plenty of people outside of the ODAC region recognized it.

W&L's alumni network is one of the best.  Period.  VMI's may be better, but only to a degree.

Gotta be something about that Rockbridge County water. ;)

Does anyone know the true story behind why LC dropped football in the first place?  I know    there were plenty of stories floating around at track meets that I attended at LC.. but none of them seemed legit.  I hope LC gets a team.. if their track program is any indication of the athletes they can draw they'd be pretty decent within the ODAC.

Snooze & Regress. :D  Aptly named.

I guess I'm for it, but it would just further water down a recruiting base that's already watered down.

Oh I understand, my sister graduated from W&L so I have a pretty good working knowledge of what the school is like.  My point is the average viewer of PTI PROBABLY isn't a fan of division 3 sports and may not be familiar with smaller schools.   The school name is very well known but often school logos are not as well known in general.   Not all sports fans even KNOW there's more than 1 division of football...let alone the trident logo.  ;)

Watered down recruiting shouldn't be an excuse.... it may just force some of the ODAC coaches to look outside of the VA/MD/DC area a little bit more.

Agreed.  Solid point! :)

It'd also add another thing to do for us Lynchburg folk who want more to do!! ;D
