Snakehandler,

Yeah Mike on Outside the lines was something and the whole situation is sad.  There is a point guard last name Quinn from Notre Dame who tooks Mike's spot with the Miami Heat and Quinn is currently on the Heats 12 man roster but Mike would have earned that spot if his health was there.

The Heat make their rookies wear knee pads during the summer league and thats how he got the infection in fact he had two surgeries at the Cleveland Clinic to remove the first one than it spread down into his Ankle and had to have a second surgery.  As you saw hes skinny as a rail and lost more than 25 lbs of muscle.

Luckily he is training and getting back in shape at WVU and will give the NBA and maybe Euro ball another chance this summer.

Just found this in the Bristol Herald Courier:

"...Four of his teammates, including Caleb Jennings, the southwest Virginia Offensive Player of the Year as named by the Herald Courier, will sign with Emory & Henry on Friday at 2 p.m.

The others headed to E&H are linebacker Brett Clayburne, defensive back D.J. Simmons and wide receiver C.J. Arms."

It seems Emory will have quite a Richlands contingent next year with Keene, Thad Wells, Cain Ringstaff and the above mentioned.

Guilford is notoriously slow in posting their upcoming football schedule, but I can usually figure it out by checking the sites of the schools GCQ traditionally plays.  It looks as though two things will change in 2007:  1) a season opener at Southern Virginia (the 2nd game for the Knights) instead of Ferrum and 2) the Quakers will go to Methodist for the 2nd year in a row (I guess to balance the schedule at five home and five away).

9-1 @ Southern Virginia (probably at Parry McCluer HS)
9-8 @ Methodist
9-15 Averett
9-22 Hampden-Sydney
9-29 @ Greensboro (Grimsley HS)
10-6 Open
10-13 @ Bridgewater
10-20 Washington & Lee
10-27 Randolph-Macon (Homecoming)
11-3 @ Catholic
11-10 Emory & Henry

Hey now, I have the Tar Heels winning it all ... but I also have State winning it all (NIT). ;)

Not I! Although if Hansborough keeps the mask off they have a better chance. One knock to the nose and a lack of defensive stops will eventually do Carolina in. You have to like a Big East or Big Ten team if they get to the final four. The refs eat their whistles and physical play rules supreme in the Final Four. ;)

Well kid, looks like the Tar Heels lived up to my expectations. All it took was one 10 minute drought at the end of an Elight 8 game to do them in. They have been having those lapses all year long so it was bound to resurface. Bad for this Tar Heel fan but good for my bracket, 7 of 8 in the final 8 and 4 for 4 in the Final 4. Now on to two exciting matchups on Saturday.  ;)

I was 8-for-8 for the Elite 8, but only got two of the Final Four teams correct (Florida and Ohio State). :-\

Tough year to pick ... good bit of parity and a lot of youth (thanks to the NBA rule).

Now I'm cheering against Georgetown ... them winning the title is the only way for me to lose my office pool. ;)

The Tar Heels screwed me up for being 4 for 4 in the final 4. I think it was an NC lapse or should I say collapse but you have to give G credit on D. (as much as it pains me to do so) When they switched to zone, the Tarheels looked like they didn't know what to do.

Kid,

I see your football knowledge also expands to the basketball at the D1 level as well.  Pretty good picks goign 8 for 8 and also 4 for 4 in the final four.  Much easier this year to pick with all the big guns still around late in the tourney but still good predicting by kid.

I had 6 of 8 in the elite 8 and 3 for 4 in the final four with Florida, Gtown, and of course The Buckeyes of Ohio State.

I only hope that Greg Oden realizes his offensive game is not ready for the NBA and stays another year to develope his game.  With his return the buckeyes would only be losing two senior's Ron Lewis and Ivan Harris.

The buckeyes have 7'2 Center Kousta Koufas coming in from Canton, Ohio and the kid would be a perfect compliment to Odens inside play.  He can stroke a jumper anywhere on the court, and led his team to the Ohio state semifinals this year where they lost.

In replacing Ron Lewis the Bucks are bring in Jon Diebler 6'7 of Upper Sandusky, Ohio.  This year he became the all time leading scorer in Ohio Prep School History.  The kid averaged 48 points a game on the season.  His tem lost 85-87 in the div 2 state championship game where he poured in 46 points.

Ohio State will be reloading and not rebuilding...

SnakeHandler,

Did you happen to catch the commerical with Gansey and Beilin for the West Virginia Lottery?

Pretty funny if you dont live in West Virginia you probably wont see it but you can go to Utube and put in Mike Gansey West Virginia lottery and check it out.

I wonder how much he made off of that commercial?

Snakehandler

No, I haven't seen it.

By the way,

6 of 8,  4 of 4

Of the 8 possible outcomes, I will win my office pool in 5 of them (only $40). My wife will win a HD DVD player ($500) in another pool if the other three outcomes happen.  Kind of freaky.

I just to do not see home advantage for GC-Q or MC when they play each other. It's slugfest with the roaders getting the win a ot of the time.

Anyway Hasa....tell me what Apostle did  the 3rd Gallica Legion save in 47 AD...twice. I know you know this...come on

Good morning, abnrgr.  Nice to see you online.

You're right about the Quakers and the Monarchs.  Guilford and Methodist have played each other every year since MU started football in 1989 - nine games at each venue.  So far, the Quakers have a 12-6 advantage, winning six times at home and six times on the road, while MU's won three times at home and three times on the road, so that means the road team has won half the time.  lol  Here's hoping the Barnette-less Quakers still have a passing game potent enough to take the Monarchs one more time in Fayetteville this September.

Gee, abnrgr, I'm not the military historian you are!  lol  I do know the third Legion of the Roman Army was a favorite of Julius Caesar before Christ and about four centuries later, Mark Antony.  If Rome needed a "road" win all over Europe and the Middle East, III Legio got the call.  :)  Their symbol was a "bull", so they must have been hard-charging road warriors!

Et tu, willierobin!  Bravo!  I like it!  lol
