Pretty good post. A players level outlook is always good. You are looking at the films and across the line.

Guilford AD (and former Greensboro College football HC) Marion Kirby is retiring effective August 31.  Looks like Basketball HC Tom Palombo is taking over interim AD duties:

RMC- They are the bottom rung and unless something drastic has happened over there its going to be another long year. Gamal Alwan's nice little spin move and motor is something for the fans to watch and appreciate, but that offense is unimpressive, their line play is meager, and their defense except for Alwan is the picture of uninspired.

This was a fantastic post, even though my team got panned. :'(

Hope we see you again, generals08. 8)

I was disappointed in Kirby in that he did not help out Mike Ketchum more. Where was the $$ for adult coaches (not grad assistants in disguise), field house, and field. I am sure there was something under the rug that no one knows about but he did not help Mike. Retirement in his case is good.

I am glad you are still tenured. ;)

Hey, abnrgr.  Kirby and Ketchum coached and recruited against each other for the first five years of Greensboro football and then worked together for at least three years at Guilford.  As far as I know, they got along fine.  The old saying goes "the new coach gets what the old coach needed."  Sadly, since I don't work for Guilford and only teach one course for another Greensboro college, tenure does not apply to me.  :)

Hey everyone. I made a yahoo fantasy football league devoted to D3 fans. Everyone is welcome as I have 9 spots left open. All I ask is that you name your team after your favorite Div. 3 team.

No, I have never worked for GCQ or, for that matter, any school full-time.  I am an alumnus, former athlete and a member of the booster club.  Peace  :)

From Washington and Lee's athletics web site:

The 2007 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Football Media Day is set for Tuesday, August 7 at 11:00 a.m., in the Salem Civic Center. All seven of the ODAC coaches will be on hand to give insight into their squads leading up the first week of play beginning on Saturday, September 1. This year's media day also inaugurates the first LIVE broadcast of the event via the Internet. In conjunction with Future Media Inc., the ODAC will air the entire formal media day in a web broadcast that can be accessed from the ODAC homepage (www.odaconline.com) and/or from Future Media's website (www.futuremediaworld.com). The broadcast is free of charge to all those that wish to take in the event, with live coverage beginning at 11:00 a.m. The formal segment of the event should last roughly 30-45 minutes in duration.

Word is that E&H is having JV games this year. Is this not common in the ODAC? They are both a great teaching and recruiting tool. Not to mention, it helps to find that diamond in the rough.

They just announced the coaches poll:

1 - Bridgewater
2 - Washington & Lee
3 - Guilford
4 - Emory & Henry
5 - Hampden-Sydney
6 - Catholic
7 - Randolph-Macon

Matt Barnhart (kid)

From the coaches' speeches...

Bridgewater
"There were two surgeries over the summer on the defensive side of the ball." << Unfortunately, there was a chance both could have been starters

Catholic
"We have 21 of 22 starters back."

Emory & Henry
"We're bigger and stronger." << He said that over and over (and over)

Guilford
"Every game will be a war." << Makes sense, he's a military guy

Hampden-Sydney
"We are doing away with the two-headed QB monster."

Randolph-Macon
"Our roster is the deepest it has ever been."

Washington & Lee
"We only have two RBs on the depth chart, and hopefully that's all we need, because that's all we have."
Former Publisher of BridgewaterFootball.com

Pat Coleman

Wait -- W&L talking about lack of depth? Why should this year's media day be any different? :)
