Roocru here just checking in.  :D

Good luck to BC and all the Stone Station crew.  Olinemom, thanks for the shout on the ASC board!  ;)

Llamaguy, so you ever wear that UMHB stuff we traded for?  My BC cap looks good when I wear it.  :)

I am going to mostly watch my Austin College 'Roos  this year since I don't have quite the incentive to watch UMHB, but I plan to take in a couple of UMHB games.  I think my Roos will have another good season and sneak up on some people!!!

Crualum39 starts his season this Friday night.  They looked pretty good in their scrimmage against a last year's playoff team from a higher classification.  He is hoping for another good season and another trip to the Texas high school playoffs this year.  By the way, he also got promoted to the Head Track coach at his school.  Makes a dad proud!! ;D ;D

Talk to you guys soon!!
Anything that you ardently desire, vividly imagine, totally believe and enthusiastically pursue will inevitably come to pass !!!

Have not bought the tickets yet but am planning on coming if at all possible.

As a matter of fact I wore it to dinner last night!  :o I told Jack Johnson it would remind him of home. Funny thing as we were talking about your boy. He said he had been keeping an eye on things down there and was quite impressed with the turn around with the new coaching staff. He said had he not gotten the BC gig he would have probably been there coaching right beside Crualum 39! ;)

Hey guys, I'm in a "football pick'em contest" and I need some help with the Shenandoah vs. Catholic game? Who's gonna win? I live in Winchester and have heard that Shenandoah is bad. I saw that Catholic is picked next to last in their conference. So who wins?

I'm in the ODAC pick 'em contest, and I had a very easy time choosing Catholic seeing that it's at home, and they have 21 of 22 starters back.

The Cardinals also finished last season playing Bridgewater VERY tough.  They'll definitely make some noise in the ODAC this year.

To the ODAC fan who has attempted twice in the past 24 hours to register for the message board from AOL:

1) Your e-mail address must be real
2) You must have it set to accept messages from D3football.com

These points are both in the instructions, I'm fairly certain. Please, please make a note of it.

Catholic(3-7) and Shenandoah(2-8) were both bad last year. Catholic won 17-6 in their matchup last year, with just one participating senior on the team. With a home game for the Cards, I think it is a fairly easy decision to pick them to win this game.

Not many players go from D-III to a scholarship division because you have to sit out a year.
I agree with Pat.  It's not unusual, however, for guys to "move up" to DIII for a variety of reasons.  In some cases, for example, they were originally recruited by a DIII, found they were going to have considerable pine time at DI and realized they just wanted to play.  There are lots of other reasons for a transfer, of course, but many DIII schools get a few DI, DII and DI-AA players every fall ... and they can play right away!

The only ODAC kid I know of to move to D1 is the kid from H-S a few years ago that transferred to Clemson. His name escapes me at the moment. He was actually starting or getting considerable PT until he got hurt. (broke his leg I think) Maybe someone can add others to this list. Bet there aren't many.  8)

Cole Downer was the kids name. Transferred to Clemson in 2003. Played in 2004 and 2005 until he was injured. Had to have his spleen removed. Not a broken leg as I stated above. Below is a link to an article about him if anyone is interested.

Cole Downer was a great player. He was truly a D1 player playing at the D3 level and living proof that the D1 recruiting process is not exactly scientific.  D3 has many players good enough to play up but don't for many different reasons. Just another reason to love D3 athletics.

Good luck to all the ODAC teams this weekend. Make us proud !!!!

Good luck to the GC Quakers on Saturday against the Knights at Southern Virginia University!  I'll be in Raleigh for the NC State game this weekend, but plan to make the trip to Fayetteville for the Methodist game on the 8th.

I'm looking for lots of Averett and Hampden-Sydney fans on the 15th and 22nd, respectively, to help kick-off the first night games on campus in Guilford's 100 plus years of football.  These games should be fun!

To echo TFA's post, good luck to all the ODAC teams in their opening games!
