Colorado College dropped football as you can see. I was around Lees-McRae when they dropped. Everyone at least protested.

I see a lot of hand ringing about "hearts going out" etc etc.... ad nausea.... but living here in Colorado Springs it was like sheep going to the slaughter. Everyone just rolled over and of course the interview with a female sophomore that said on the news and I quote :I think I knew a football player....giggle....he was uh like big".

OMG.  :-[

Just dump the coachs. Perhaps if the professors actually taught the classes instead of their Masters candidates they would not be paid so much. Got to get published you know

I know that was uncalled for but the first thing a school does is drop football and about 100 propective student athletes. Depressing............

Glad RMC players are safe

Guilford hasn't released its 2009 football schedule, but here's what it looks like by checking the schedules of other teams, following the normal ODAC rotation and being involved in homecoming activities:

Sep 5 @ Greenboro 1 pm (Grimsley HS)
Sept 12 @ Methodist 1 pm
Sep 19 AVERETT 7 pm
Sep 26 HSC 7 pm (homecoming)
10-2 @ S. Virginia 7 pm (Fri @ Buena Vista's Parry McClure HS - SVU gen. conf. Sat.)
10-10 Open
10-17 @ Bridgewater 1 pm
10-24 W&L  TBA
10-31 RMC 1 pm
11-7 @ Catholic 1 pm
11-14 E&H 1 pm

W&L hasn't announced their schedule either, so I don't know the starting time.  I was personally hoping we'd add some variety to the 2009 schedule after two seasons with SVU, but I see we play the Knights again.  I also appreciate SVU's need to not play on Saturday when they have their general conference weekend, but they should probably just make that an open date.  It's not fair to fans of the visiting team who want to see the game and can't travel on Friday night.  Guilford even made a late switch of their home game to Friday night last year to accommodate SVU and only had about a third of the normal crowd.   Maybe we have a contractual agreement, but I'd like to see NO Friday games and some scheduling variety ... maybe Campbell, NCWC, LaGrange, Maryville, Shenandoah ... teams we've never played or haven't played in a long time.

For what it's worth, here's what we have on "official" games/times so far for Guilford.

Thanks, Pat.  I should have cited the D3.football source as well.  Based on my work with my Guilford class reunion at Homecoming, I can tell you the Sept. 26 game with Hampden-Sydney will be a 7 pm start.  Also, I got the Southern Virginia information from their site (and they highlighted the Friday, Oct. 2 night game due to their General Conference schedule on Saturday).

At the very least, his name will leave a lasting legacy with Stone Station :)

2.7 seconds. An average football player may need more time to score; a great one finds a way. I've seen greatness happen.

Hey to all. I am new to this board and the ODAC.  There are only 4 months and a few days til kickoff 2009. I am really into E&H Football. My son is finishing his freshman year. E&H should enjoy another good season. Spring workouts went well. Team is strong, fast and fired up.  Offense returns alot, and defense has some holes to fill. Good guys have been waiting in the wings to step up! I am looking forward to the season and various exchanges on this board. GO WASPS!!

Welcome aboard, waspermike.  Maybe you can make the trip to Greensboro when the Wasps and Quakers close the regular season.

Not gossip really, but I had a nice chat with Jim Belcher (RMC '85) at my local Greensboro YMCA this week.  We'd seen each other many times, but struck up a conversation when he was wearing a Randolph-Macon T-shirt and I'd worn Guilford gym shorts.  Any posters know Jim?

Hey all...No Gossip Here...Just an an observation...I think that I saw where Guilford had listed some of their new commits (recruits). I was glad to see this. Hearing about incoming prospects is good for the fans and good for the prospects. Also, it gives us something to talk about, while waiting on camp in August.!! I don't have details, but I understand that the Waspers have a good class coming in. There seems to be alot of emphasis on the O-line. Why don't we hear more about recruiting in the ODAC?

Hasanova...Still trying to figure this site out!! Reply...Quote...etc. Thanks for the invite to G'boro this Fall. I'll be there!! As a kid, I remember Guilford playing Emory. That is the neat thing about the ODAC, almost every game is a rivalry. The teams have been playing each other forever.

Guilford's had 21 commitments ... I'll add a link later in the day.  You don't hear about it much in DIII because it's not as binding as DI.  You really don't know who you have until they enroll in the fall.  Sometimes, a kid will express interest in a DIII school only to back out if a DI/DII offers a walk-on or a scholarship.  Guilford Coach Kiesel doesn't publish a name until they've paid a non-refundable deposit and indicated their intention to attend ... even then you don't know for sure until August practice!

PS  You'll get the reply/quote.  Reply means you start with a clean slate.  Use quote when you want to include what someone else said immediately before your comments.
