Actually, it airs as an infomercial on Sunday at 3 am ... just check Channel 7 in Roanoke.  :)  Not!

RT... Are you a Ferrum fan/alum?  Back in the day, Ferrum was a junior college. When did they go 4 years?

My wife went to Ferrum as a 4-year student, but both of her parents were there during the junior college years. I think the school switched to the 4-year plan circa '84.

As for me, I graduated from Wabash College in Indiana -- but became a Southerner by the grace of God and matrimony  ;)

2.7 seconds. An average football player may need more time to score; a great one finds a way. I've seen greatness happen.

Hey all...No Gossip Here...Just an an observation...I think that I saw where Guilford had listed some of their new commits (recruits). I was glad to see this. Hearing about incoming prospects is good for the fans and good for the prospects. Also, it gives us something to talk about, while waiting on camp in August.!! I don't have details, but I understand that the Waspers have a good class coming in. There seems to be alot of emphasis on the O-line. Why don't we hear more about recruiting in the ODAC?
Guilford's had 21 commitments ... I'll add a link later in the day.

Thanks for the links... Lots of new guys on the D-side. How is the O looking? Did your q-back graduate? He was a stud, but couldn't seem to get on track at E&H last year. Who are the contenders in the ODAC? E&H is going to be good, but we got spanked by HSC and Catholic last year. Not sure who they return. The parity is good in the conference...

You're welcome.  I'm not sure what Guilford's Offense will look like this year with Josh Vogelbach's graduation, so QB and Receivers are a question mark for me.  There was more use of the run last year than in 2005-07, so I'd expect that to be an even bigger part of the attack in 2009.  Yeah, the Quakers finished poorly last year ... I was very disappointed with the 44-7 season-ending loss at E&H.

Well, I guess there's no turning back now ... I drove through Guilford today and the work has begun to remove the grass in Armfield Stadium and replace it with field turf.  It's scheduled to be ready for all fall sports - football plus men's and women's soccer - then men's and women's lacrosse in the spring.

Hasa,

After Guilford installs the new fieldturf that will leave only three schools that still play on grass (RMC, HSC, and Bridgewater).  At one point I thought that teams that played on turf only once or twice a year would have to make adjustments.  Now it may be that teams that play on grass only once or twice a year may have to adjust.

Hey HSC85.  You make an interesting point for the ODAC, as it'll make it Field Turf 4, Natural Grass 3.  I'd have to examine each team's schedule to be sure, but for Guilford this means six 2009 games on FT:

Greensboro away on Greensboro Grimsley HS's grass field
Methodist away grass field
AVERETT home FT
HSC home FT
SVU away on Buena Vista Parry McClure HS's grass field
BC away grass field
W&L home FT
RMC home FT
CUA away FT
E&H home FT

If we switch venues for the same teams in 2010, it would mean 7 on FT and only 3 on grass.

1984 or '85.  Exactly right.

Just wanted to add, RMC adopted a new campus plan which will bring an upgrade to the campus.  In the upgrade will be a new stadium with -- field turf.  I wonder if Bridgewater and HSC have any intentions of replacing their fields???

H-S has turf for lacrosse and other sports.

When is R-M putting in a turf field? ???

Best of my recollection, they offered a limited number of 4 year Bachelor majors when I was there (81-83) but 90+ % got their Associates and transferred on. That increased dramatically along with the switch to D3 in the mid 80's. They offered Associates degrees for quite some time after this I believe discontinuing sometime in the 90's.

My guess would be when they get the funds straight for the new stadium and get that process up and running.  Here is a link for the new plan.  http://www.rmc.edu/News/~/media/531CC13AA66C41B78B006495D5FC0D01.ashx

That is a nice plan for RMC.  I think the conference will be stronger if all of the schools have updated facilities.  I know that the new facilities at HSC has renewed some excitement from potential recruits.
