Skoal, you going to the Liberty/JMU game?   I'll be at BC Saturday, with rain gear, anybody else making it in  for the Lycoming game?
I am planning on being at the BC game.  I have a cheese bread round and a cherry strudel like I bring to the Stagg Bowl and 2 kinds of brownies.  I don't have a tent but I have a table.  What else and who else is coming?  Let's hope for a break in the rain!!

HSC leads 10-6 at halftime, in a driving rain. Nice 80 yard drive by Guilford near the end of the half, with assistance from a couple of pass interference penalties against the Tigers.

Hampden Sydney and Guilford played in a driving rain storm for the whole game last night.  I don't know how each team was able to accomplish what they did.  Really thankful for the new field turf.  I was impressed with the Guilford team and how hard they played and how they stopped as soon as they heard the whistle.  Penalties were significantly one sided and HSC can't make that many mistakes this week and expect to win.  HSC defense had a good game and an extremely good second half.  I don't think Guilford had a first down in the second half until 5 min to go in the 4th quarter.  Dry out Tigers and get ready for Bridgewater.

HSC85 - you know how bad the weather was if I left before the end of the 1st quarter at homecoming!  :)  Three others were with me and their (our) hearts weren't really in it - today, wouldn't you know it, is picture-perfect!  Really a shame since I think it kept the crowd to about a fourth of what it should have been, but the weather didn't affect the outcome - HSC is the better team in 2009.  Guilford's players are young, but I honestly think they'll catch someone before the end of the season.  In the past, this would have been a quagmire, but the field turf allowed several events on the same field to go on as GC soccer topped BC, 4-1.

Hasa,

I agree that Guilford could surprise someone by the end of the year.  They made some plays last night but not enough to generate enough offense against HSC.  As they get more confident they should improve.  The defense looked good and they were prepared for all of the different looks that HSC gives you.

I agree.  Guilford's 0-4, but Greensboro and Methodist were games the Quakers could have won.  GC had the ball on the one in the last minute in a 12-7 road loss to the Pride and had a 19-10 4th quarter lead versus MU - the Monarchs hit a FG with 40 seconds to go to win 20-19 while the Quakers missed a 39-yarder for the win on the last play.  The GC kicker had hit two FG's earlier in the game, one from 40, so well within his range.  There's a huge psychological difference between 2-2 and 0-4!  I had no illusions about beating HSC, but think there are a few teams still on the schedule with whom we'll be competitive.
