Big game this week between Emory & Henry and Bridgewater.  Bridgewater still has a chance to get the AQ if they win out and RMC beats HSC.  In a three way tie I think it would revert to the "Rose Bowl" rule where the team that has not been to the playoffs in the longest period of time would get the AQ.

The Rose Bowl Rule is a factor, but there are several hurdles  (the "Five-Point Tie Breaking Procedure") to be looked at first. From the ODAC manual:

Conference Champion

The regular season Conference standings shall determine the Conference Champion.

1. In the case of a two-way tie, the "ODAC Tie-Breaking System" included under "General Procedures Governing Intercollegiate Competition" in this manual will be used. The head-to-head game score will be used to establish a winner. If three teams are tied, the team, which has defeated the other two, becomes champion.

2.If Section 1 does not break the tie, the three teams tied will advance to the ODAC Five-Point Tie Breaking Procedure. If a tie still exists, each team will be compared to the teams above them in the standings (record vs. #1, record vs. #2).

If teams are still tied, the conference will invoke the "Rose Bowl Rule" which calls for the team that has not been to NCAA post season most recently to advance to NCAA play that year.

2.7 seconds. An average football player may need more time to score; a great one finds a way. I've seen greatness happen.

RMCFan

First off, I would like to congratulate the Jackets on a great all around game on Saturday.  The Jackets ran the ball extremely well, Faulkner was effective and the defense played great.  This looked like an RMC team of old.

Next, I would like to pull my foot out of my mouth talking about RMC and their lack of running game.  Welcome to the ODAC discussion Thaddeus Scruggs.  The ODAC has put so much hype around Caleb Jennings but Scruggs was the one who stole the show.  The offensive line opened up some gaping holes and Steve Matthews blocked his tail off.  Scruggs is a strong runner (the same that Thornton was) but is much faster.  Although Scruggs didn't break off any real long runs, you could tell that if he ever gets a clean break through the hole that he is taking it to the house.

It was the game of the season (I am ashamed to say) that I got to see in person.  I know Earl Peoples has lit up the stats book but watching him in real life was awesome....great routes, great blocking and extremely sure handed, an all around complete wide receiver.

Now the defense...what a game.  Holding Emory and Henry on a goal line stand to preserve the shut out.  Joe Pricone played absolute lights out with an outstanding one handed interception.  Coach Mollet has that defense right where it needs to be heading into Bridgewater, Guilford and HSC.

Just a question to anyone who was at the game...as I was heading out of the stands, I saw a player get injured lated in the 4th quarter.  Was that Pricone?  I couldn't see the jersey number.

badcall!

I had a very interesting conversation at BC Homecoming at one of the late night festivities with several high ranking folks at BC.  Seems like Coach Clark is seriously mulling over his future at BC and is taking a wait and see approach with the incoming president to see what his/her athletic philosophy will be.  Hopefully he will decide to stick around and try and rebuild the program into a perennial ODAC title contender as it was in the early-mid 2000's.  I fear though that he will only stick around a few more years at best.

Is anyone interested in the ODAC such as myself?  Our champion is an AQ for the NCAA DIII tourney.  I have a vested interest since my son is a starting DT for the defending conference champs, Randolph-Macon.  They are 1/2 of the oldest southern small school rivalry in the nation.  Hampden-Sydney is the other 1/2.  The last two conference champions have been decided by the winner of this game.  This season looks to be taking the same path.  Both are 3-0 in conference and heading for a collision course that will shake central VA's foundation.

Last season, we were 1st round fodder for the eventual champion, Mt Union.  It is tough competing against a team that is more than 50% DI dropouts.

You may want to check out the ODAC Board in the South Region Football Section as the ODAC is in the South region, not the East Region.  Also, before you start throwing numbers like "50% DI Dropouts" on this board, you may want to do some fact checking on that.  I would be very surprised if there were ANY DI dropouts on this year's MUC squad.

Nice first post you donkey!

Congrats to BC on the win and thanks to Stone Station for the great food and hospitality!   I believe the weather forecast kept some back but it was good seeing everyone that came out.

My friend that came with me is still talking about Skoal's famous sauce and plans on taking the hour drive from Halifax to Lynchburg to see if he can steal the recipe!  :D
He doesn't have to steal it.  I'll make it and give it to him.  However, the recipe won't be making the trip with him!  Great seeing you guys this weekend.  We had a freakin' blast!

Is anyone interested in reading the most random post in the history of postpatterns?  I have a vested interest in post patterns since I have posted here before.  I am 1/56 of what consists of the LLPP.  LD, Gro, Reg, Dlipp, U89, The Rev make up 6/56 of the other 7/56ths.  We post about things like hangovers, vegas, thongs and other fun things.  We do the same thing this year.  We post about things like that.

Last year we did the same thing.

I've gotta be 23/56, right? Something like that? C'mon, hook a brother up.

I grew up in Patrick Co, VA, so I can say with some certainty that 1/95 of the Commonwealth of Virginia is not shaken to its foundation by The Game.  The half dozen combined alumni of either RMC or HSC living there might check the score on Sunday morning, but not too much foundation shaking from 1-4 pm on the second Saturday in November.  :)  Now, as for the other 94 counties, let the seismic activity be recorded on the nearest Richter Scale!

b1gpapi

First, is Patrick County considered to be in Central VA, SW VA, or Western VA?  Being a transplanted Yank, I can only use the geographic landmarks that Fox news broadcasts.  When I said Central VA, I should have clarified Petersburg to Stafford.  The game is in Ashland this year, yet does receive a mention on ESPN every season.  Just food for thought...
