Congratulations to W&L, BC and CUA.

Here's wishing W&L the best in the NCAA playoffs.  Well played gentlemen!

Speaking of the Guilford/Catholic game, what do you say when you jump out to a 14-0 lead, take the lead with about 4 minutes to go and then lose the lead on a TD return on the ensuing kickoff?  Guilford's 0-9, but the Quakers aren't that far from being a decent football team.  You are what your record says you are, I guess, but there were at least 4-5 this year that GCQ let get away.

Good luck next week at E&H!

If Hampden-Sydney wins their home game against Randolph-Macon next Saturday, they will finish 9-1, with a win over regionally ranked Salisbury, and they should have a fair shot at getting a Pool C bid.

I've posted my questions/thoughts about this at http://www.d3boards.com/index.php?topic=4102.2175

Tough to believe that W&L has run the table!!!

I really wish I had gone to see them play at Catholic in my own backyard.  Alas, an opportunity missed.

Go Generals and here's hoping HSC gets a separate bid.

Any of the H-SC or R-MC men tell me what to expect if I attend THE GAME on Saturday.
Are tickets available? What size will the crowd be? Parking? Ant intel would be
appreciated.

AUEagle,

I would highly reccommend attending "the Game".  It is the oldest small college rivalry in the South.  This will be the 116th edition.  Hampden Sydney is a unique place to attend a football game.  The field is set in a natural ampitheater (sp?).  There is a hill that borders more than half the field.  There are seats for about 3000 - 4000 but we have had crowds of 10,000 or more attend The Game.  HSC does not collect tickets for each individual.  The volunteer fire department collects $10 per carload no matter how many people are in the car (1-20 if it is a VW full of clowns from the circus).  There will be parking areas on campus.  You can tailgate anywhere on campus.  There are designated tailgate areas where alcohol is allowed, but noone is going to look into any cups at your tailgate if noone is causing trouble.  Alcohol is not allowed around the field at all and cups will be searched at the field.

I have seen every HSC=RMC game since 1981 which was the first one that I played in.  Saturday, my son will play in his last Macon Game.  It is a special experience.  While the results of this edition do not carry the weight of the past three.  Each team would trade a season full of wins for a win on Saturday.  Hampden Sydney plays two season every year.  One is a 9 game season and the other is Macon Week.  Let me know if you decide to come and I will happily welcome you to our tailgate to share some food and beverage.

HSC85: Thank you for the reply...I've seen many games (like most of us)..Rose Bowl, OSU-Meechigan, Stagg Bowl, NFL Championships, etc. HSC-RMC & Wabash-DePauw are two I need to witness. If I can make the Ohio Wesleyan-Hiram game in Delaware, that is my first choice. I'll advise you of my status...again, thanks.

What HSC85 says....... ;)......It truly is a unique place to see a game and I actually like it better at their place because of the Charge per car(what a GAS!)but mostly the fact that at HSC you actually get a chance to SEE the game.At our place its difficult to get a seat to watch it because its so crowded-at HSC the natural BOWL-Shape of the field and the fact that you can sit on the hill and watch makes for a great atmosphere.Plus-Even though I have a season tailgate spot at R-MC it has gotten to be such a HASSLE to go sometimes. The rules and regulations are RIDICULOUS .I mean,REALLY-do they have to ID check EVERYBODY that comes in,even the ones that are quite obviously old enough.A friend of mine who was coming into the area with his 87YEAR OLD father(who was obviously 87!) was carded!!Its almost gotten to be a police state sometimes, and it didnt used to be like that.I can understand them ID checking kids but it really has gotten ridiculous-most of the people in the area are obviously old enough and most are alumni.....in this case ,we could use a little common sense from our friends and rivals in Farmville. If you're old enough and not causing any trouble LEAVE THEM ALONE!You will enjoy the atmosphere and the hard-nosed rivalry at THE GAME......and also the fact that AFTER the game we're all great friends again!!  :D......Enjoy!

If I roll into town, I'll be with my 80 year old father!! I'll tell him to bring his driver ID, Military/Veteran ID...he will get a chuckle out of it...He is a former high school/college ref...I know he hasn't seen the ODAC crews work; he's tougher on the refs than most fans.....I should know by Thursday if The Game is a reality.

aueagle-Its not that bad at HSC-In fact, like HSC85 says, they won't give you a hard time there-Its at R-MC where it has gotten bad.I love my school and I love going to games there but they need to lighten up a little....... ;)

While I agree that the results of this edition do not carry the weight of the past three and that each team would trade a season full of wins for a win on Saturday, I'll also note that Hampden-Sydney has an NCAA berth at stake on Saturday.  If they win the game, it is probable that they will get into the tournament; if they lose the game, then their second loss of the season will put them on the sidelines with Randolph-Macon.

Weather forecast, according to http://www.intellicast.com:  "Sunshine.  Highs in the upper 50s .... 10% Probability of Precipitation = 10% ... Cloud Coverage: 4% ... Wind Speed: 5Mph."  The leaves on the Hampden-Sydney campus are absolutely at their color peak ... it is gorgeous today ... and I'd say that, with the forecast for Saturday, it doesn't get much better than this for a football game.

For those of us too lazy to look it up, how many years does this make for The Game?  :)
