Congrats to the Tigers and Gennies.  I'm curious as to the logic of the seeding.  HSC a 4 and W&L a 6??  I realized W&L had 2 bad losses, but they were early in the season and they beat the Tigers by 11 just two weeks ago.  It would seem the Tigers SOS is higher.  Thoughts???

IMO....a bad loss is a bad loss....no matter when it occurs. I don't crunch numbers like many of you do, but me thinks the Salisbury win on the road really put the Tigers on the map. Especially, in hind sight with Salisbury being 8 and 2 playing Wesley to a one TD game.

I'm quite sure that the final (but unpublished) ranking that guided the NCAA committee in its decision-making placed Hampden-Sydney ahead of Washington and Lee.  That's because, even though the Generals won the H2H with the Tigers, HSC had only 1 loss .... and a much stronger strength of schedule than the Generals did.  The Tigers defeated a Regionally-Ranked Salisbury (7-2), North Carolina Wesleyan (7-3), Averett (5-5), and Sewanee (1-9) and had one of the highest SOS in the country (#34), while the Generals defeated Sewanee (1-9) and Juniata (0-10), while losing to Franklin & Marshall (6-4) by 4 touchdowns and also Averett (5-5).

It is pretty clear that the Generals didn't get it together until the 4th or 5th week of the season, but they have certainly been very, very strong since then!  Nevertheless, to the NCAA, the first weeks of the season count just as much for the rankings. (Those first weeks also count as much for Pool C bids .... just ask Rowan about that.)

In future years, the Generals would do well to replace Juniata on their schedule with a team like Hopkins, Muhlenburg, or Salisbury.

I will definitely be rooting for Washington and Lee for as long as they play, unless we get a Generals/Tigers matchup on Fulton Field in the NCAA quarterfinals on December 4.  That's not likely, but stranger things have happened ....

Congratulations to W&L and HSC ... glad you both got in!

Just a couple of thoughts about The Game on Saturday.

1.  It was PACKED.  I've never seen that many people at this game before at Hampden-Sydney.  Anyone have any idea what the gate was?  Estimates? ???

2.  Congratulations to the Tigers on their win and good luck to them in the playoffs.  I'd like to see one of us get through the one-and-done scenarios that typically get the ODAC teams. >:(

3.  I enjoyed watching Tim Petrohovich play for us, even though we lost.  Hopefully he'll give us three more excellent years. ;D

4.  I am really, really, really, really tired of losing to H-S in football. :P  While I'm glad we're not getting killed any more, we don't seem to be able to close the deal against the Tigers.  Aruzza has done great things for Macon football, but he remains 1-6 against Favret.  Any thoughts?  ???

Thoughts? Yes....keep up the good work Jackets against the Tigers.  Sorry Jacket.....you asked for that one.  :D
I too was impressed with Petrohovich. Not too shabby for a FR in his first ever start.
As for the attendance....seems I heard 12,000 somewhere. It is so hard to estimate at H-S, but I thought that a little high. Course, if you count everyone at the tailgates, and at the frat houses that may have breezed through the game, and the dogs.....OK maybe 12k.  ;D

The bracket looks reasonable this year, let's hope for an all ODAC showdown on 12/4!

Let's not go there ;)  .... but Aruzzo can take pride that he has the second best coaching record in the ODAC against Favret.

And, yes, you really DID ask for it ....   ;D

Update the ODAC game board. I am dying to see it in writing. I mean my last place finish.  :)

I thought that Petrohovich did a great job.  Do you think that Arruza will stay with him or go back to Sellers who started the previous 2 games?

Jacketlawyer-I feel your pain.......and you shoulda started ducking the minute you posted that ;)Those HSC boys just couldn't resist that one..... :D....I can only tell you what my college roomate at R-MC,Rob Stanley, told me.(Ironically-he does color commentary for HSC on the radio at WFLO-FM in Farmville-he's a local Farmville boy)He said that Pedro has the full backing of all the football alumni and they love the discipline and hard-nosed attitude he's instilled(unlike his predecessors)in them-He's still a year or so behind offensively in getting the talent that Marty has gotten and also that HSC had put more money into facilities, etc before we did(that is changing now)and that had helped them.We thought we had evened it out earlier this year-until Faulkner got hurt. That was a KILLER for us.He made us much more than the one-dimensional team we had been in the past and turned us into a PASSING threat to go along with the running game we've always had.I tell you -the last three weeks of the season was PAINFUL to watch and I have felt so sorry for Earl Peoples, who IMHO is the best receiver in the ODAC and one of the best in the country-because he hasn't been able to get the ball because our QB's couldn't get him the ball. They always looked a step late or a second behind in getting it to him and it KILLED us the last two games, especially. The soph QB threw TWO pick-6's last week against Bridgewater and that was the difference in the game.I'm not making excuses,though-the Tigers beat us saturday and they clearly deserved to win-Good luck to them AND the Gennies this weekend-I'll certainly be pulling for both of them!.......But you're right-BRING ON BASKETBALL! Go JACKETS!!........and PS-I thought the freshman QB did a good job saturday,too-he just wasn't Faulkner...... ;)

I guess if you get a few tools you can do great things. Just tells "Iron Mike" did not get the tools at GC-Q. I know he was hard headed as I remember trying to knock him out in 1976 or 77.... :)

I don't think there's any question he will probably stay with him.....or at the VERY least-It's his job to lose..... :o......That's how Faulkner got the nod in the first place.......somebody else(can't remember who)either got hurt or was pulled for not doing the job as Pedro saw fit..... :-[
