Who ever gets the keys to the car will have to change the oil that's for sure.
He will be on "final approach".
He will need buckets to save the boat

Either way he will need to "row well.....and live"

ad nauseum.....

First time I used the automobile metaphor...sounded good. "Jeez Mav, I crack myself up"

Never shall I leave a fallen comrade

More like pulling the engine and doing an overhaul.   I think I'd have a meeting with returning players my first day and say, among other things, "Are you tired of losing?  Ok, here are the academic, physical and social expectations I have for us to be the team we can be."  Then, the second day, I'd go find some more players who know how to win, study and stay out of trouble.

Any big names from the D1 or D1 AA level?
There may have been some DI or DI AA level candidates, but the finalists all have DIII experience.  I know where the finalists are working now, but it wouldn't be appropriate to comment until the committee makes its decision.  Any way it shakes out, I think Guilford will get a solid coach.

Can't be any worse than what they just had! Hope they bring in someone from the Quaker family and not an outsider too!

I wish Coach Kiesel and his family well.   From what I hear, I don't believe any of the finalists have a Guilford College connection.

Again I concur with you my overlord.  :)

When people yell "he's got to go" there are more than the one that has to go. A staff of 8-10 has a possibilty of 8-10 families. So in essence you got possibly 30-40 people on the street. Sadly I think I have called for a head or 2 over the years.

It's the nature of the business that is the most distastful and I do hate it as the assistants may or may been really good. I will say it takes guts to be a head coach above the high school level...knowing the ability to eat could be cut off at any second...

In this day and age, I'm not sure that's different than any other job. The only thing I can say about being a coach is that you have probably two main metrics to meet, 1) win and 2) graduate your kids. I know I'm over simplifying, and clearly those aren't easy achievements, but I'd love to have a job where I was pretty much judged on 2 main characteristics. Beats the heck out of having a parade of bosses all with different ideas of what I should be doing and in what priority with no guarantee that a) my company will be here in a year or b) my company will want me here tomorrow.

I can offer no opinion about Coach Kiesel's effectiveness on the field or in the locker room other than to state the obvious:  the Quakers were 0-10 in 2010 and 24-36 in his six year tenure.  I have met Coach Kiesel many times away from football and always found him to be pleasant and engaging.  I also know he has a wife and three kids, a daughter in college in NC and two sons still at home.  As go his football fortunes, so go their lives and stability.  Kevin has a lot of coaching connections, so I'm sure he'll be back on the sidelines in some capacity soon - I'm just not sure where it'll be.

Sometimes, the only metric is winning.  Sadly, in this case, the team was 0-10 and kids weren't staying with the program.

moskowe

I hope we can get some help my son jeremy moskow has a youtube highlight and we would love some feedback to see if he can play in this conference any feedback would be appreciated. We dont want to chase a blind path, if anyone thinks he is ok and knows what coaches we could contact we would be greatful

You have to feel bad for anyone out of work these days. The job market is not a pretty place to be. I do hope he and all his assistants land on their feet somewhere soon. That being said, as a W&L fan, I sure hope Guilford can do no better than one loss more than the Generals under their new coach. ;D Honestly, for all of the kids who work hard and play D3 for the love of the game, I'd never wish 0-10 on any of them. Everyone deserves some joy for their efforts.
