Bishop,

Did you see the NCWC game against Ohio Northern?  If so how would you compare the two teams?

HSC appears to be the stronger, however the two schools did not play the same team. NCWC played a much stronger game against ONU and that is by no means to take away from the whacking they took against HSC. There is no doubt HSC was ready and we were....well, I don't know where we were! However, I would have to say HSC is probably  stronger than anyone we will see this year...
The only easy day was yesterday

Tigers are looking good ... offense pretty much what you would expect, defense much better than expected, special teams in good shape as well.

Don't know what the Ferrum Panthers will bring to Death Valley but I'm looking forward to the first match up between the two schools. Should be exciting.

ODAC looking good through week 2. Don't know if the winning % will continue but if it does ODAC might get two teams into the playoffs again this year, maybe !!!!

Good luck to all this weekend. May your team win and stay free of injury.

Yep, some tough games. I think every game in the ODAC is going to be tough, minus one.

If the Tigers can stay relatively healthy they should be able to make a run at the title. Last two games will be very difficult and going to Emory will not be easy.

ODAC will suffer 3 hits this week. WL RMC and GC-Q.

I really want GC-Q to win so the "House of Job" (Hasa) does not suffer so much...

Thanks, but it's more like the "House of Sisyphus".  Guilford seems to have offended the football Gods and been doomed forever in win/loss Hades to keep rolling that "rock" to the top of the mountain, watching it fall and then starting all over again!  :)

I think I should pay to have "Sisysphean" carved in stone somewhere on campus!

What does Ferrum have this year ? Should the Tigers be concerned ?

Running a new offense so it is hard to judge from their week 1 performance.  Stop Mayo and you should be ok.  That kid is tough as nails.

Congratulations to Catholic on their 3-0 start.  The recap I just read of their 29-28 win over Carnegie Mellon last night sounded like an exciting game!

W&L and Centre are in a real dogfight. End of 3rd qtr, W&L up 35-28. A couple early stops for the Generals, but Centre seems to be rolling on catch up. Both teams have scored on a short field after recovering a fumble, both have had some big 15 yard penalties called on them. Generals have missed a field goal. Could be an interesting 4th qtr. It would mess with my pick-em, but go Generals! Lets pull this one out!

jknezek

W&L working hard at throwing the game away. After a bad Centre punt they wasted a short field with a couple penalties and then followed that up by giving up a long TD run to tie the game. Ensuing possession is going well until a long pass is intercepted at the end zone and returned 64 yards. Short field for Centre, and despite a few penalties manage to punch in for 7. Mid 4th qtr, Colonels on top of the Generals 42-35.

Centre runs out the clock on the Generals. A tough game and a disappointing loss, but too many mistakes, on the road, against a good team, will do that. I still like the Generals to finish behind H-S in the ODAC, but with 2 losses I don't think we'll see two bids this year. Last year the Generals got off to a bad start and rallied but it was a young team. The kind of mistakes they made tonight are tough with the seasoned squad. Congrats to Centre, they really did well in the second half and the Generals, especially on D, looked out of ideas for how to stop them. 42-35 the Colonels muscle past W&L.

Good for RMC pulling one out I did not think they could. I am glad they proved me wrong for ODAC's sake.

Good for the Cardiac Cardinal Kids ala the Brian Sipe led Brownies.....

Football.....cannot beat it

Lot of starters (including the QB) out for the Quakers versus Averett, but there was plenty of competitive play nonetheless.  Hopefully, the bye week will allow some healing.  Guilford had two touchdowns called back on penalties and fizzled at the one-yard line just before the half.  The 35-21 final may be deceptive.  It was 28-21 and we were driving when a turnover led to AU's last score.  I realize the "ifs and buts" game is flawed, but Guilford could have won this contest.  I'm encouraged and I hope the players and other fans are as well.  Go Quakers!

I'm really happy for the Catholic Cardinals, but, if I was a betting man, I'd predict their winning streak will come to an end at Hampden-Sydney on Oct. 1.  The Tigers look tough!

I am sad to admit it, but I think that it is going to be a very long year for my beloved Yellow Jackets.  I have been to all 3 games and from what I can tell we are far too one-dimensional.  Thaddeus and Drake are incredible running backs but we have no passing game.  From what I could tell, almost every one of our passes were short passes to our RBs in the flats or 4 yard crossing routes.  And we only had 57 yards passing.  Thank goodness for 4 Shenandoah turnovers, 2 that gave us the ball inside the 10, otherwise I don't think that we win that game

What has happened to our passing game?  I hope that Arruza doesn't think that we can continue to run the ball down everyone's throats.  That may work on the Averett and the Methodist teams but teams in the ODAC are far to smart for that.

Do we have anything in the hopper?
