Interesting reading the post relative to Wesley's victory over CSU. In your opinion how does UWW & Mt. Union stack up against 1AA programs ? Could they compete with the middle of the pack 1AA's or would they get blown away. I've watched Richmond, W&M & JMU play many times; have seen Mt. Union & UWW play in Roanoke most every year and I see a wide gap but I also find it very difficult to compare in many ways. I do feel that many of the players on both Mt. Union & UWW teams can play at the 1AA level, but I don't think there are enough of those to allow either of those two teams  to compete for an entire game against 1aa competition. Your thoughts would be interesting.

i am not Ralph (not as knowledgable nor as good looking) but i'd like a shot at the question, as it is very interesting one.
i also have watched the past 4 stagg bowls, and eaten some AWESOME BBQ with yall ODAC folk.
White water or union appears to be close to the mid pack and also ran but in good conference D-1fcs near me, OVC winner Jax state and low end SoCon Samford.  jax state drew a bye in first round of D-1fcs playoffs but lost its second round game last year, but beat a bad SEC team (if there is such ) ole miss in oxford last year.

i have no doubt you are correct about richmond or app state vs The 2 top D-3... as i have not seen those play (sept on the tube)

living in bama i couldn't help but follow D-2, as it was dominated by bama teams in mid 80' =>mid 90's ( UNA played in 4 championship games and won 3, while Jax state-then D-2-played in 3 and won one) and UNA is in the champ hunt every year
in 1994 UNA played thier equilivant in D-1aa (ohio's Youngstowne State) and lost 14 -17 in a tough close game. This is one of the few top vs top matches i have remember.  real real close, but the upper division team won on a field goal.

in D-1bcs all i watch is SEC, and the drop from SEC to D-1fcs is phenominal... usually (but jax did beat ole miss last yr )

so............... i believe (but will probably never know) Udubdub/Mt Union would beat most mid range D-2's, lose to D-2 champ by a TD or less (or eck it out in 1 of 5 games if the moon is right),
I thank they hang with most mid level D-1fcs maybe ekk out a win now and then, and possibly lose to most mid level D-1bcs but play them close for 3 quarters
If they played the top end D-1bcs,  Auburn (of last year-War Eagle baby) or the evil Tide of 2 yrs ago or this yr (boooooooooo).... it would not be pretty (but then most D-1 team god or bad ain't gonna hang with the tuscaloosa cheaters this year).....just my opinion (and i am probably way way off base)

I agree with Dr Pugh, especially the low D1-FCS! :)

The indexes like LazIndex, Bornpowerindex and MasseyRatings bear that out, too.

I think the responses are good but I would say that UWW or UMU could not play an entire season against FCS teams and do well. In my opinion, the size and depth isn't there. I'm more than willing to put them up against any team in FCS 2 or 3 times, but a full season would end badly. A balanced schedule in a good conference, they finish toward the bottom. A weak conference, they finish toward the middle. Just my guess.

Pugh and Dr Ralph
Helped me understand better. I saw Charleston Southern (CS) eviserate GC-Q back in early 2000 or late 1999. Cannot remember exact date. Anyway it took them over a half to put away the Quakes that night. Lost a bunch of turnovers too. So CS may have systemic problems with talent. And it is humid as hell  :)

I think it's a talent issue.  The Citadel is just a few miles away and I bet they'd beat Charleston Southern handily.  At the time you mentioned seeing CS, I think they'd just moved up a division, but 11-12 years later no real strength within FCS.

yall all know a bunch more about this than me, Dr Ralph (one of my heros, works on humans...i keep my hand in horses fannies for a living) said LazIndex agreed with what we were saying..or was close i looked his link up and awesome info
http://www.lazindex.com/CFALLRANK.htm

not to say they are at all correct (as opinions are sorta like fannies, everyone has got one) but they rank bama #1( i ain't arguing that point as they seem loaded this year-booooo)
the first appearance on this list of a D-3 school is UW Whitewater at #90. LazIndex ranks  ~ 78 D-1 BCS, 8 D-1FCS, 4 D-2, and no NAIA teams above whitewater. The first NAIA ranked teams comes in at #131 (just a side note)
Mt Union is ranked at #118, and the Huntingdon Hawks (4-1, independent) come in with a ranking of #372 out of 723 ranked teams

who knows ?, but this was fun to come in to eat lunch, get to look all this up, and read all yalls posts (i washed my arm off prior to eating)

Don't want to give anything away online that might help SVU prepare - I'll send you a PM.

No, I haven't.  The closest I've ever been to a hot room or a room full of hot air is this forum.  Now, as far as your bifurcating is concerned - as long as you never do it in a Turkish bath, we should all be safe!  :)

Thank you for the Trukish update.... ;)

What about your QB. Is he up or down

It's OK.  Personally, I have a mind like a steel sieve - or, if we're still under the porcine-themed cloak of espionage, it's like an "eelstay ievesay."  :)

Any thoughts on the RMC / Catholic game?   Other than not throw 4 ints like last week, What does RMC need to do to come home with a Win?  I am concerned because a loss this week would make them 0-2 in the ODAC with a strong W&L team coming to Ashland...It looked like E&H greatly slowed down our potent running attack b ut we were able to complete many short passes.  Some that turned into good gains with some good yards-after-catch.
