Guilford announced nine student-athletes who've indicated their intention to enroll academically and play football at Guilford (see link on home page of d3football.com and on Guilford's athletics page).  Any other news from ODAC land?  Would love to see some Shenandoah fans chime in as well.

HSC is putting together an outstanding class. I'll more detail in about two weeks and will share. Hoping to compete for the ODAC title again this year.

The Tigers are singing Rocky Top this Greek Week.  Welcome to your new home, Nash Nance.

The ODAC is getting ready to see what a SEC caliber QB can do. Recent news brings a transfer from UT to HSC. Should be very exciting to watch this kid for the next three seasons and should help HSC compete for the ODAC championship and hopefully to get over the hump in the playoffs. Defense is going to be much better next year and with this news the offense will improve as well.

More exciting news on the recruiting front coming in the next several weeks.

I'm not sure how much the offense really needs improving (although it's great to get a guy like Nance) but it certainly would be sweet to get an SEC caliber transfer or two for the other side of the ball. I hope you're right about the defense being much better; it would be hard to believe they could get any worse.

Interesting. This could be good news for the ODAC and especially H-SC. For those of us who aren't Tigers fans, however, I'll reserve judgement. Back in the late 90s when I was at W&L the backup QB from Air Force transferred in. It is my recollection that he never played a significant down for W&L. Of course, UT today is a far cry better than the Air Force teams of the late 90s, so mileage will vary. I do think its interesting that at one point his father announced he was ONLY interested in Ivy League schools. I wonder what reality brought about the end of that sentiment.

I feel this is great news from HSC.  It could really answer the largest question mark the Tigers have coming into 2012 with Travis Lane completing his career.  The defense was playing 9-10 players that were Freshman or Sophomore first year starters.  They had to replace 3 all-conference defensive lineman that were multiyear starters with one All-American.  The secondary was new as well and the most experienced DB was lost in week 4.  I think they will be better on defense in 2012.  They may not be as strong as they were in 2009 but they will be better.  They need to find a new center with All-American Ben Rogers ending an impressive career having started every game during the past 4 years. Kyle Vance and Kirk Rhole are other key contributors on offense that will be missed.  HSC will not be the pre-season favorite but they have a chance to repeat as ODAC champs.

You never replace a player the caliber of Ben Rogers, however the OL will be in good shape next year.
The defense will be better, much better. The main concern was finding the replacement for Travis Lane and I think that has been done. At every position on the offensive side Marty has a way to reload each year. One great receiver after another graduates and the next group seems to be very good as well. Perhaps it is Marty's system but the quality usually does not vary too much from year to year. All will not be All Americans but those that are not seem to be very affective in Marty's offense.

Not sure about the comparison of an Air Force Academy transfer vs. a kid that received a ride from an SEC school (two of them actually). Nobody pays to go to Air Force so many kids get accepted, show up and try to make the team. SEC schools only have 85 rides to give and this kid received one. Time will tell if he is the real deal or not but common sense would indicate that a kid receiving a ride from UT is probably going to have a pretty good career as a QB in the ODAC

Well you remember the kid from NC State who showed up at Guilford's doorstep and broke almost every ODAC air record. So if somebody does not make the travel squad comes down he will have something.

As for the AF Academy they recruit  specific athletes that can make it there and play D1 ball. AF and Navy regularly tangles with the big boys and go to bowl games. USMA a little harder.

Taking trig and electrical engineering exams the night prior to playing Notre Dame makes it a little hectic there.  USMA usually has a 12 mile force march at the end of one of their evolutions sometimes the day before a game. The players do it and still play. Off my soap box

I think Vogelbach was actually redshirted at East Carolina when Chip Holtz was their coach, but your point is on target.

abnrgr

Sorry Hasa. I knew he was D1 from the state. He was "Air Vogel", was he not?

If this guy is 75% of Vogel the "Kittens" may be unstoppable in the conference.  ;)
