Thanks for the link, 1775.  +1  Speaking of Nash Nance, he's been on this forum's radar since at least March 30 starting with post 14900.  :)

Should be interesting to see if Nash can have a positive impact.

at 6'4" and 230lbs with a rocket for an arm, how can you not make an impact in the odac ? time will only answer the question. lets get him on the field and see what he has to offer. my gut is he'll not just be good, he'll be really good

Players report in about five weeks so hopefully this board will light up soon. Anybody know when the coaches meeting is scheduled ? Be interesting to see how those guys view the 2012 season. Will SU make a dent ? Will GC continue to improve ? Will BC compete for the title ? Will it come down to the RMC vs. HSC game or will W&L continue to be a factor?
Will CU stay in the ODAC long term or they go to another conference ? Any finally, will the ODAC finally when a playoff game ???

Fun questions. But I don't think you'll get much interesting out of the coaches meetings. Those guys know what to say and, more importantly, they generally know what NOT to say. I'm long on the record as saying this year will once again come down to RMC and HSC.

Catholic is interesting. With the CAC possibly gaining steam for football they might return there for all sports. But if they are staying in the Landmark Conference for everything else, I don't see why they would affiliate with the CAC for football. If you consider the CAC is likely to include Wesley, Salisbury, CNU, Frostberg, and Southern Virginia, you would be staring at quite a tough schedule. Plus, even including Catholic, they would still need one more to get an AQ.

Shenandoah gives the ODAC the flexibility to care less (though making a schedule is easier with Catholic in than out), but I'm thinking Catholic stays unless they give up the Landmark altogether. They aren't exactly the cream of the crop of the ODAC right now, and staring down Wesley and Salisbury, plus CNU as no slouch, and that wouldn't be fun for the current state of their program.

Big stories for the ODAC this year? 1) how much impact an SEC transfer QB has at H-SC, 2) Guilford's continuing renaissance, 3) R-MC at H-SC to play for the crown.

Now that Catholic has moved from the Capital AC to the Landmark Conference, I think that Catholic considers the ODAC more aligned with mission and vision of the institution for football.

I think you're right.  Catholic has the resources to travel and their longest ODAC road trips are E&H and Guilford.  Academically, and with regard to mission and vision, I agree that overall the ODAC schools align very well with Catholic.  In the CAC, Frostburg, CNU and Salisbury are all state-supported schools and, realistically, SVU still has work to do to build a great athletic and academic reputation.  It's not my decision, of course, but I'd rather be affiliated with the ODAC.

Guilford will continue to improve.  The Quakers were +2 last season and I think an additional two wins this fall is reasonable.  My prediction is 4-6, 2-5.  I hope I'm being too conservative and we're even better, especially in the ODAC.  Coach Rusiewicz has energized the program and he and his staff have done a good recruiting job, so hopefully the effort will yield results on the scoreboard.  The key, I think, at any level of competition, is to have juniors and seniors on the field.  Let's see if the players recruited the last two years are still making a positive impact in 2013 and 2014!

Under the heading "things you learn while researching something else", here's an RPI (Rensselaer) cheer:

E to the x, dy/dx, E to the x, dx
Cosine, secant, tangent, sine
3.14159
Square root, cube root, log of pi
Disintegrate them, RPI!

Makes an old math major smile.  :)

I remember hearing Northwestern came up with:

"It's alright, It's ok, you'll be working for us someday."

But I wonder if that is correct. I've heard it from a variety of places at times.

I also like fellow Quaker school Earlham's (IN) cheer (keep in mind The Society of Friend's penchant for both "seeing that of God in everyone - i.e., inner light" and consensus):

(paraphrased)

Fight, fight, inner light!
Kill, Quakers kill!
Beat them, beat them, beat them senseless!
'Til we all can reach consensus!

Perhaps the equally important tenet of peace and harmony is suspended on Saturday afternoons!  :)

Also heard by "Dookies" at Carolina games ...

After reading the Earlham cheer, it must have been quite a battle the last two seasons going up against Sewanee with their traditional cheer, originally reserved for Vanderbilt in the 1890's.

"Rip 'em up!
Tear 'em up!
Leave 'em in the lurch.
Down with the heathen.
Up with the Church.
Yea, Sewanee's Right!"
