Bridgewater and HSC look like best teams. They play Oct 12 2nd game of Conference schedule. RMC , W&L , also could be there. HSC QB was hurt before CNU game and could not run. HSC had numerous players hurt last 2 games and Defense is much improved. Like Bridgewater because they are well rounded  team on D & O . E&H and Catholic could upset some teams too. Guilford may have an upset in them too. Don't see Shenandoah beating an eventual conf champ. If HSC QB gets healthy just don't see them losing. The fun starts Oct. 5th !

If and I say if, BC wins conference it will be well deserved. They travel to HSC and W&L and E&H , 3 Of the top 5 in conference. That's a tough sled to push but I like their attitude and this is a  very good coaching staff. They aren't satisfied with any early success and are willing to evaluate players and schemes weekly to improve. They're all rowing in the same direction which is sometimes hard to do. Go Eagles.

Difficult to know which ODAC is best at this point but I do know this; if HSC does not get healthy they will have a difficult time winning the ODAC. How good is CUA & E&H ? I think I have a handle on RMC, BC & W&L.  USCGA fields a poor football team but that campus is impressive and the view is even better.

Tough loss Saturday nite. Hopefully your Quakers will rebound for conference play.

W&L just can't win at Centre but sounds like the game was competitive and you lost to a good team.

Danville is just brutal on the Generals, but this was self-inflicted. Gave up something like 34 pts in the second and third quarter with some turnovers and big plays. The defense was good against F&M, the offense was better against Centre, but to be competitive in the ODAC they are going to have to play more complete games.

Part of the problem, and it seems strange to say this regarding a triple option team, is the passing game. W&L is 3 for 17 with 2 picks and a total of 19 yards IN 2 GAMES. I don't expect much, but they need to complete 25 or 30 percent of the passes for 30 to 50 yards a game. Really missing Alex Evans, which I knew was going to be a big deal when I first realized he wasn't on the roster.

Sewanee next week, at home. I think Sewanee is improved, but W&L has owned them for almost a decade and Lexington is no picnic for visitors. It should be a quick game with two option teams, but not always the most entertaining to watch. Last year Sewanee held tough for 3 quarters before getting rolled, we'll see how this year goes.

I thought you'd like the Coast Guard Academy. It is beautiful and well worth the trip. I think everyone but W&L and Catholic is on a bye next week, so maybe H-SC can get healed up.

HSC is not that unhealthy. We were missing three starters at last weeks game. If anything the starters being out has allowed some of our backups the blossom. Brady Macko scored four touchdowns in the game at the Coast Guard. That's got to provide him a tremendous amount of confidence. Another starter that was out his senior captain TE Mike Goad. We all want to see Mike healthy but if we have depth anywhere it's at TE. Senior captain Steve Fogelman is also out. But his replacement is Rohle, a tremendous football player and a great leader.  Sure we have our bumps and bruises but who doesn't?

Sewanee is a much improved football team. Last year it seemed like their offense was a mess with poor ball security when they played Maryville, but this year was a different story. They chewed up the clock, but have a few athletes to do some fast strikes.  One thing that was evident was the tendency to shy away from running the option to the left.

But you're right. Tough nosed football for 3 quarters, then just falls off.
I really think they are just a few more "somethings" away from being a pretty good football team. I just don't know what the "something" is right now. Linemen? Defensive guys? Skill guys? Bigger roster size? At any rate... No, Sewanee's Wrong.

I know last year they just didn't have the quality and depth of the Generals. Both teams were doing similar things, W&L was just doing it bigger, stronger, faster and deeper into the team. By the time the middle of the third quarter came around, Sewanee was out of guys that could stop W&L's offense and they still weren't able to push the defense around. That might still be the case. We'll see this weekend, although actually I won't since I'll be at Birmingham Southern. I guess I'll see next year when I get to the mountain again.

I hope you are right but I'm told injuries are a major concern at this point; QB, TE, RB, WR, WS, Punter & Kicker.
Others are dinged but playing. The week off comes at the right time.

I assume you've been at the games too. I did not mention K and P since they were out before season started. I forgot about the WR since he has not played either. But getting a few of the back-ups in can only benefit us in the latter parts of season.

Injuries are always a major concern but HSC is fine. Playing best D in years and still has an incredible scoring machine offense. We'll be ready to rock in 2 weeks.

Here's to taking care of business and arriving unbeaten for both teams. Hope all the injuries heal up so we get you at full strength. Wouldn't want it any other way.

Yes, I haven't missed a game in three years. I agree HSC will be stronger down the road with others getting playing time because of the injuries and I agree the defense is really good which will help us when ODAC play begins on Oct. 5th. If we can get everyone back to 100% I think HSC is good enough to make a serious run at the ODAC championship.

Will do. My only problem on game day is I have so many family members/friends on campus for the game, it is hard to get away and trust me, you don't want that crowd at your tailgate. But I will come down and introduce myself. I bet we have already met.

Glad to have Ferrum in the rearview. Good team except pass defense.
BC offense has balance and is getting smoother every game.
Surprise of the day, Averett over Guilford. Never would have guessed that based on previous play this year.
That's why we play the games though. Anything can happen.
It was torrential rain in Greensboro throughout the game.  GC gave Averett three easy TDs on turnovers, had a TD called back on a penalty and missed two short FGs - including a 22-yarder to tie with 5 seconds to go.  I give credit to Averett, but GC should have won.
Wow, that's a lot of gifts. Knew something bad happened because Guilford wins that game 99℅ of the time. You guys will get back on track I'm sure. It was a nasty day for sure.
I hope so - very frustrating to watch.  Christmas in September for the Cougars.  We were driving for the winning score in the last two minutes and thought we were in at the right pylon, but the ref spotted it at the 1-foot line.  I think GC took a delay of game penalty which moved it back to the 5.  GC let the clock run down to 5 seconds and called time before missing a 22-yard chip shot to tie wide left.  We gave away at least 28-35 points on the night.  Maddening, but both teams had to play in the same pouring rain - we just didn't handle it well.

Don't really pay much attention to ODAC Football since VWC doesn't have a team, but I recently stumbled across the fact that former Tennessee QB Nash Nance plays for Hampden-Sydney! How is he looking out there? Does he look like he would have solved UT's current QB woes? lol
