Bridgewater at H-SC has me very, very curious for next week. R-MC at Catholic, W&L at E&H and Guilford home for Shenandoah are ALL much more interesting games than they seemed to be just a couple days ago.

You are right about interesting.  BC could beat HSC, CU could beat RMC, WL could beat EH and none would be a huge upset.  I doubt this all falls in place but it is interesting. But one thing that's certain - either GC or SU will be in first place after week 2.  Who would have thought that?
Not me, but I'm glad to see it!

After only one week of ODAC play we already have two huge surprises. I guess this season is going to be really interesting as predicted. Seemingly any conference team can beat the other. Makes for fun and a bad case of heartburn.

Interested to know how you see/predict the ODAC matchups this weekend. Based on last weeks results I will not hold you to your educated guesses.

Yeah. Cause I did so well last week! You can see my guesses in the pick em section. HSC beats Bridgewater at home, RMC takes Catholic in the non-functional capital city, E&H throws over W&L at home, and Guilford takes Shenandoah at home.

I have never been completely sold on Bridgewater and, while I'm assuming they will be duly chastised after last weekend, H-SC has more quality across the board. Playing at home is the trump card. RMC looks good to me. They lost to JHU, but JHU is the second or third best team in the South. No shame in losing that game, so I think they'll have the horses to win in D.C. I've said since the spring that RMC was my pick based on the schedule this year, I'm not ready to go away from that yet.

W&L is struggling offensively. The defense is a bend don't break kind of d, so they have to put up points to win. They didn't get them against Guilford at home, not sure they can keep up with E&H. E&H has, traditionally, been a tough place for the Generals to play. Even two years ago when W&L had what I think was their best team, despite not winning the conference, they needed a long last second FG to win at E&H. Shenandoah took advantage of some really bad play by Bridgewater in the first half. The second half they did just enough to hold on. Guilford didn't make too many mistakes in Lexington. Unless they have a massive let-down game, I think they have more than enough horses to win after Shenandoah makes the long trip south.

I will say the game I am feeling shakiest about is Guilford. They are still learning to win, and this smells like a trap game. Big win last week in Lexington, avenging two years of massive losses. I could see Guilford looking ahead to Bridgewater as championship thoughts float in their minds.

If it makes you feel any better, those would be my picks as well. I don't see CAU beating Macon, I think E&H has too much O for W&L unless the W&L offense can keep E&H's offense off the field, really no clue about GC vs. SU but I go with GC at home against SU and I think HSC will beat BC at home.

No science to the picks just gut.

Let me but in if I may Messirs JKzenek and tigerfan. There is no science such as numbers, escape velocity but there are some points here. All my days playing coaching and passing gas I have see teams go 9-1 on to the playoffs. You look at the one loss as an aberration as the team that beat the 9-0 team had a long losing string. But if you look back over years you will see (sorry have to use NFL analogy) you'll see a history. It boils down to the old saying: "they have their number". It may not even be the spy that is hidden in the linebacker line or even the secondary. It just plain bad luck in the universe.

There was a streak back in the late 90's and early 2000. Saints would win no more than 3 games sometimes but they almost always beat the Cowboys. Why?  Dallas had the Vikes numbers during that time but the Vikes would blow up NO.  Hell we finally beat the Vikes in 2009. They have just creamed us in the playoffs over the last 15 years.

The year NO lost to the Bears in the NFC Championship games started a Chicago thing that NO's could not beat but NO would rock the Lions. But then the Lions rocked somebody the next week? Yep that's right.  Bears! crazy.  ;) We finally got the Bears at home after 6 tries up there

It also seems that Abraham Zapruder was really Hasanova but called himself Zapruder and HSC Tiger was the second gunman on the grassy knoll.    ;)

abnrgr, the Warren Commission already established three points:

1. My parents were not Russian
2. I was in Claudville, VA and not Dallas, TX in November of 1963
3. At age 11, I couldn't afford a stick of gum much less a Bell & Howell 8mm camera

There are, however, still lingering doubts about HSC Tiger's whereabouts and motives.  I rest my case.  :)

WAIT! WHAT?   :o
No way, Jose. I was sitting in the auditorium of my elementary school in Lenoir, NC for the weekly assembly. My only motive was getting out of class for 30-45 minutes.

You have to have more evidence than that.  Even Seinfeld blew Kramer and Newman out of the water when he disproved the Keith Hernandez "magic loogie" story that "allegedly" happened outside Shea Stadium!

I was not born until 69 so I have an airtight alibi.

I think CUA has a really good chance to beat RMC.  Mostly because I was so impressed with their running game.  Coach Dunn has always had a good passing game which was made better this year the WL transfer.  Pedro is going run the ball too.  Both teams playing ball control tends to lead to low scoring.  If this occurs CUA has a good shot - especially at home.

Plus let's be honest - I cannot pull for RMC!

This is news worthy; the HSC defense is ranked 3rd nationally for yards given up per game. Been a long time since the Tigers have been news worthy on the D side of the ball.

Offense is 6th in the country (i think) in turnovers with 10. If those numbers continue it will be a problem in ODAC play. Lets hope they finish the year with 10 turnovers.

Thanks for the info on the Tigers' D. This is something that I've been griping about ad nauseam, pretty much since I first signed on to these boards. It appears that they're finally making progress, and I'm hopeful they can keep it going for the rest of the season.

I know it's a long way to Tipperary ... uh, Greensboro ... from Winchester, but I was wondering if any Shenandoah supporters are making the trip south for this Saturday's 1 pm game at Guilford.
