It's a big game tomorrow, Quaker fans!  I invite all Guilford (4-2, 3-0) and Randolph-Macon (5-1, 3-0) fans to be at GC's Armfield Athletic Center/Appenzeller Field for tomorrow's 1 pm kick-off.  Both teams are undefeated in the ODAC, so the intensity will definitely be there.  If you can't get up for this, you need to take a pulse.  lol

There is a free pre-game lunch and giveaways for Quaker Club members from 11:30-1:00 pm.  If you have not yet joined, drop by and we'll sign you up!  The Quaker Club has moved its location to the Pepsi Fan Zone at the corner of the north endzone.  Enjoy lunch and fellowship plus everyone is welcome to check out other regional and national games before and during the game on multiple HD TVs.  See you there!

Go Quakers!

Quick question for you Hasa,

Is Armfield Athletic Center on the Guildford campus? I was looking at the USAC composite schedule just a minute ago and saw that Greensboro is still playing at Grimsley High School. Just got me wondering about Guildford. Thanks.

Hey, Scots13.  Yes, Guilford's (one "d") Armfield Athletic Center is on campus.  Football, baseball and both basketball gyms are in a row just east of the quad.  Guilford has approximately 300 acres, so we have plenty of land.  Guilford was once outside the city limits, but, over time, has been surrounded and absorbed by Greensboro.  So, this large tract is a bit of nature refuge in an otherwise urban/suburban environment.  The main body of Guilford's campus is in a corner of the tract and the balance is still natural.

Greensboro College, on the other hand, is downtown and quite landlocked.  There really is no land for a football stadium there, so they play all their "home" games at 10,000 seat Jamieson Stadium, home of the Greensboro-based Grimsley HS Whirlwinds (Whirlies).   I've seen 4,000 there for a Soup Bowl game between the two colleges, but, as a rule, it's too big for Greensboro College.  Grimsley HS and Page HS, however, will fill the place!

When the Soup Bowl is played at Grimsley HS, Jamieson Stadium is between the two campuses - two to four miles from each college.  In effect, I almost view it as a sixth home game for Guilford.

I have no idea why I put an extra D in Guilford. My apologies and thanks for the info.

You're welcome.  Not a problem - there's a "Guilford" and a "Guildford" in England, so it's an easy typo to make.  Trust me, I know about typos!  +1 for you

Go quakers. Today is going to be a great game vs RMC. Two great explosive running backs.

RMC can not stop that wide receiver.

Congrats Quakers! Tense final quarter. Nice setup for next weeks HS game. Cant wait.

That's it. I'm done picking against the Quakers...

Generals are burying Bridgewater. The Eagles kept it close for a while, but too many mistakes let the Generals hang around and wear them out. At this point, Bridgewater simply can't stop the Generals from moving up and down the field. W&L's senior QB went out somewhat early and they are going with a first year QB paired with a first year TB that looks like it could be a good combination for the future. Nice to see a little nasty back in this offense.
