It will always be Prince Edward Academy to me....I'm a proud graduate of York Academy, which has been closed for some time now, but I have a lot of love for the small, private schools of the VCC.  A lot of great memories....

Good ole PEA. Still hear stories of the good ole days.
Nothing like small college football, and small VA academy football.

ODAC had a lot more of an interesting Saturday than most conferences.
As a neutral observer, Nash Nance is an animal. From what I read over on the news pages of d3football he had a mind-boggling game. The kind of game that makes you think, "Man, I wish he played for [my team]."

JK, what year did you graduate from W&L? I have three high school friends who graduated in 1992. Also friend who went to law school there, but he's old as dirt.

I played at Southampton Academy in the late 70's for Dickie Surace......we now play 8 man football and our coach is Former H-SC star QB and Hall of Famer Dale Marks....

Nance is good. When he's on, he's the best qb in the league. On the rare days he's off, he's really off. Yesterday was not one of those days and he buried the Generals. I graduated in 2000, so well after your friends. They were close to when the school went coed, a very different place in those days.

SA came back to 11 man when I was in high school and we had some pretty good battles. I think we went 2-2 against them, but I'm not quite sure. I was 0-5 against IWA (lost 21-14 in season and 14-7 State Championship game in 2007) and that STILL chaps my a$$ a little. Hope you can find some more kids to come out and get back to the VCC where your boys belong.

Your Generals are tough to defend. I think the HSC defense did a better job then most by holding W&L to 272 yds on the ground, an average of 3.8 yards per rush but 272 is still a bunch to give up.

I've got to ask; your take on THE GAME ?

Hasa

Sorry for your Quakers loss but I didn't think CAU was a good match up for you guys. They are just a bit more physical at this point.

Well, the game went pretty much as I was afraid it would go. HSC got out in front early, for at least the third year in a row and I'm getting sick of watching that! W&L just isn't good enough to come back from that. Nance did not make mistakes, and the Generals turned the ball over 3 times (twice were killers). So the Generals made the mistakes and HSC didn't. Since I thought HSC was a better team this year, that needed to be reversed for the Generals to have a shot.

It was nice seeing a bit of a rally in the second half, but then Nance came out and salted the game away. W&L is missing a viable pitch recipient this year. So while Hollerith (the giant first year who did most of the damage) is going to be a beast up the middle for a couple years to come, W&L is going to have to find a way to compliment him with the speed and outside option. Right now the threat is there, but the qb is not getting the ball to the pitch man effectively. It's been this way all year.

I thought the Generals played as well as could be expected on defense, but there was a limit and it was reached in the fourth quarter. Overall, W&L is slightly better on defense, but not as good on offense as in the past, and they are losing the turnover battle almost every game. An unhealthy combination that has them staring at 5-5 or 6-4 this year. We have a first year QB that showed some promise at times, if we can pair him with Hollerith I think in two years W&L will be challenging again. Not sure about next year.

Thanks, tfa.  I had a bad feeling about this game ... and didn't even get to watch since my home computer is out of order.  Hopefully, the Quakers can regroup against E&H on Saturday.  Both teams are 5-4, so still a lot to play for as there was last year at Emory.

Well stated but I was requesting your take on THE GAME (HSC vs RMC).

It's kind of obvious that I completely missed that, isn't it? Ah well. HSC should win if they play like they did this week. 10-14 pts. Wipe out a touchdown for every +1 turnover RMC has. So if HSC had at least a 2 turnover margin versus W&L, I think they only have a 1.5 margin versus RMC. RMC had HSC's number the last two years in the game, but I think HSC has the momentum this year and the warning of what happens if they don't play their best.

RMC will need to get out ahead early and slow the game down, the same things the Generals needed to do. I think RMC's more conventional offense will be a bit easier for HSC to stop this week, and therefore Naccarato is going to need a big game. I picked the Jackets to win the conference pre-season, mainly because this game was at home, but with the way HSC played the last two weeks it's hard to keep that faith.

HSC is tough to stop if you are trying to cover "Marty Ball" passing and have to worry about Nance running all over you. That's what happened to the Generals. The solution is to win the line of scrimmage and I'm not sure RMC can do that.

tigerfanalso

I pray you are right. I could not stand losing to those guys three straight years. That would be way too much for me to handle.
RMC has run the ball down our throats the last two years. I think our defense is a lot better than it was the past two years, particularly against the run, so hopefully RMC will not be as successful with their ball control offense. I don't see RMC stopping our offense. Hopefully my thoughts are not full of HSC bias !!!!

There are always a LOT of people at The Game, but with both teams at 7-2, 5-1 and the ODAC title/NCAA bid on the line it has to be a fever pitch.  Any thoughts on how many folks will attend?

15k to 17k will try but from what I hear the parking is really bad. So maybe 10 - 12k actually watch.

JK - Franklin lost the other day.  Do you still see them getting an at large bid?  Their tough OOC (Mt Union and FCS Butler) losses leave them with an at best 7-3 record. I still think playing tough OOC games ONLY matter if you win them.

Won't need an at-large if they win next week. Still control their own destiny since Blufton has 4 conference losses. Shock loss though. Even more shocking than H-SC's loss to Shenandoah.

I should have researched that. Wow. That's a huge upset. They will certainly be a tough first match. Got to think they will be on the rd.
