We didn't win it, you lost it.
Thanks.
Hope the injuries are minimal.

You're right. Linfield gets the notch In the win column but that was a game given to them by the Tigers. Wish we could have kept the tempo going in the 2nd half but that was the tale of the tape for the season. Get up in the first half and then go stale.  Good game by both teams. Now I just hope the NW posters don't act big and bad like they were the previous week. Good luck putting up your 40 and then calling off the dogs at the half from here on out.

That's Martyball though. HSC  is always going to shoot all their bullets. They just ran out today.

Not sure if I agree with the bolded statement.  It looked to me that Linfield adjusted and took away what Hampden had been doing that worked and they did not have a second plan.  got more pressure and the turnover, but I will never understand the fake punt up 4, mid 3rd.  gave all momentum to Linfield and Hampden never recovered.  Shame too, would have been a huge win for hampden and the odac.  congrats on a nice season and you will be tough next year.

Congratulations HSC for a great season and great game today.  For your first second round playoff game flying 3000 miles to the Catdome you did yourselves proud.  I found myself most concerned with your smash mouth first quarter at our expense and for beating us handily in the first half.  Best wishes for a great season next year.  Who knows but what we might meet again.  Though we are a pretty deep team I am most concerned with us losing so many seniors next year.

Great effort Tigers. You did everyone proud. Still wish I was planning on eating a hat

Tiger Fans,
I only saw bits and pieces of the game, but by checking the score frequently, it is obvious that you guys came to play and represented yourselves well.  From experience, I know that it is a painful loss, but you guys showed alot of people how you play football in the ODAC.
Don't forget your booties cause it's cold out there!

Oh yeah....HSC had me very nervous....

What a game! You had us scared for a while, but I always have faith in the Wildcats to come back.
One of you mentioned that you would be the toughest team we had faced all year or some such thing, and you had us on the ropes at the start, just like you said.

Congratulations on your fine season! You will be back in the playoffs again, and you guys travel well. I hope you all enjoyed your trip out to the left coast.

Tigers,
You clearly earned our respect today and deserve to be in the D3 Top 25....I don't understand how you could have been overlooked by the pollsters based upon the way you played against our Cats today.  You truly lived up to your promise and caught us taking a Cat Nap in the first half and showed us who was boss on the field.  With your QB and Walker returning next year I suspect you'll be back in the mix again next year.  Hopefully the next time we meet we'll take the contest more seriously and show how we can play when we play four quarters.  Nice job today, you earned the accolades you are receiving.

Tiger press release says:

Tigers Nearly Pull Upset, Fall 31-21 to #2 Linfield in Second Round

Hampden-Sydney hung with the number-two ranked team in the nation in the second round of the NCAA Division III Football Championship but ultimately fell 31-21 at Linfield College. The Tigers end their season at 9-3 overall and 6-1 in ODAC play while winning the school's eighth conference championship and capturing the program's first-ever playoff win. Linfield (11-0, 6-0 NWC) advances to the quarterfinals and will face University of Wisconsin-Whitewater next Saturday.

Fabulous season for the Tigers!!!!  A great trip west, and I'm sure that the players' memories will last forever.

I have been tremendously impressed with the words of praise and congratulations coming from Wildcats fans on this ODAC board.  It is clear that you guys are great people, and I'm hoping that you will be making a trip to Virginia in 3 weeks, after you travel to Wisconsin and Texas/New York over the next 2 weeks.  Go Wildcats!

Yeah..I'm with WD. Linfield made the adjustments they needed to at half and shut H-SC down in 2nd.  That was the difference. Great game Tigers. Heck of an effort.

HSC, great game against our Wildcats.    I do not understand how you lost two regular season games.  You were the best team we have played this year.   Your passing game was VERY impressive; Nance best QB I have seen this year, Walker, best receiver.

Next year you should be even better.

Never know for sure if DOC is serious or not with his comments (e.g. "we didn't win, you lost") but I agree with others that the halftime adjustments were huge.  Once the Cats were able to shut down the short passes, it forced HSC to hold onto the ball longer which allowed our pressure to get there.  And the lack of a running game certainly hurt as well.  Still, heck of an effort by the Tigers.  As a Cat fan, I can related to being up at half time only to watch it disappear in the 4th quarter.....not fun.
Go Cats!

If they played like that every week they wouldn't have been left out, of course.
