The Linfield guys won't say it, because they are too nice no matter what HSCTiger fan thinks (he's just pissed his kid got knocked out), so I will:

Comparing the NWC and ODAC with this one game is tough because second half Linfield is the team we saw in the NWC, week in and week out. Of course I'm on the ODAC board so I should probably pretend like HSC did some amazing things to force false starts, Yoder interceptions, etc. But they didn't. Guys lined up wrong and Yoder threw bad balls, a lot of bad balls (after driving down to the red zone no less). These weren't plays where a DB made a great read and jumped a route. They were inaccurate passes that went right to the defender. Overthrown, underthrown, take your pick. Nobody should be praising HSC's defense (they did give up 31 points), they should be worried of what Yoder is going to do against a real defense next week.

Linfield had a bad half that was augmented by the fact that HSC does have a great QB and an apparently very aggressive playcaller. Linfield shot themselves in the foot for 30+ minutes and you still lost by 10.

Should I say congrats on scoring 21 or holding Linfield to 31?

Christ on a cracker, these hits hurt my teeth to watch. Still impressed with what Sydney did out West.

But did you read the article?  He effectively makes the claim that such violence is inexcusable for the risk of permanent brain injury that occurs at a measurable and statistically predictable frequency.  The next step is for society to eliminate football as a "civilized" sport.

Any opinion can be given. HSC played who was in front of them. In the first half they were a better team. In the second half Linfield was a better team. Linfield's second half ended up being more dominant than HSC's first half. Linfield won the game. However you want to parse those facts is up to you. If it makes you happy to imply the game wasn't a blowout because Linfield started slow and HSC was lucky, well that's your prerogative. Would you like a cookie for such insightful and helpful analysis, or are you just trolling to start a comment war because you are bored?

Yep. And I'll pull for Linfield next weekend because I don't want to believe "WIWA" or whatever it is UWW posters are threatening again. So go get them and good luck. Hopefully the Cats won't play as bad as they did in the first half of this playoff game or the second half of their playoff game last year. Because we all now know it is never the opponent doing well when Linfield gets outplayed!

Yeah, the goaline and endzone interceptions where no pressure was generated and the ball fell into the DBs lap were all HSCs vaunted defense

Last I checked the QB is one of the players on the field for the team. So if he makes a mistake, it is part of the team winning or losing. Same thing with a missed tackle, a bad penalty, or a fumble. You can pick and choose the plays you want to represent your team during a highlight film, but the entire series of plays during a game is how the team played.

Linfield won because they were the better team. If you want to dream and slobber over how much more they could have won by if they played mistake free football while HSC played a game with mistakes, then feel free to do so. It's a pointless exercise. Linfield was better by 10 points on Saturday. That seems like a pretty good thing if you are a Linfield fan.

FWIW, (509)Rat is not a Linfield fan. In fact, generally roots against them as he is a Whitworth fan.

Again, congrats on a fine season.

You asked what you should say. I suggest say nothing.  You obviously did not see any of the interceptions. None we routes that were jumped. They only scored 3 TDs in the second half on drives of 33 yards, 30 yards and a fumble recovery.

Would Linfield have won the ODAC this year. Yes. Would their average margin of victory been 54 to 12. No.  Top to bottom the ODAC is solid. No one would say that about the NWC with Puget Sound and Lewis and Clark.

By the way, my kid was fine. He played the entire game without injury.  I'm sure it's surprising to you to know that I care about ALL our players.  The injured player was not my son.  I was not the only one to find replaying a play on the big screen that caused a injury over and over again while the kid was being attended to as distasteful. I was the only one that pointed it out on this board.

I'm sure you don't want to believe WIWA. It's not necessarily good news for you. But it happens to be true. It's not a threat. It's a reality.  As I posted last week, if someone else wants to take out Mount, be my guest.  But until someone else does, I would think you would appreciate us doing the heavy lifting for you.  ;)

How about congratulating them for flying 3000 miles and giving Linfield a better game than most any of us could imagine. After all, the team you follow has lost to the Cats:

2013: 51-17
2012: 54-14

And then we come to a game in 2011 in which your team led the Cats 25-14 at half-time only to lose 42-38. I'm guessing, although disappointed, you were proud of your team for that game and wouldn't have appreciated some of the comments you are laying on the Tigers' fans.

Congratulations Tigers. You did a great job and earned much respect.

As a W&L fan it doesn't matter to me in a practical football sense. I just don't care for a UMU monopoly or a UWW and UMU duopoly in D3. Just my personal opinion that I spent way too long developing and defending in a long dead and forgotten thread in the General topics area.

Completely understand.  I just like typing WIWA.  :)

Truth be told I think you provide some of the most well thought out posts on the board. Plus k

Yeesh. Compliments on a sports bulletin board? Someone check the temperature in hell. Just kidding and thanks. Good luck this weekend, even if I'm not pulling for your boys!

Gig Harbor Cat

HSCTiger Fan,
Saw your comments on the NWC board about getting into it with some of the cat fans on your sideline.  For years and years, a lot of former players , dads of former players (like me) and Cat fans in general roam the far sideline and north end zone, we kind of go with the flow of where the game action is.  And yes we all are diehard fans, but we never talk at or too your players, mostly cheer for the Cats.  I think I know the conversation you are referring to as I was about 10 ft away at the time.  Now there were also a couple of your guys, I remember one of them had a smokeless cig.  he was working on.  Early on, near the north end 20 I yelled something out to our D and He made a smartass remark directed at me and walked away.  No biggie to me, I just laughed, everyone was fired up and your boys were on their game at the time.  If you would have found us and did pre game longies things might have been a bit more chill !!  We do back our boys, always !!!  and we always respect who we are playing--

Peace Out

GHC
