I'll make the trip next week to watch Tigers as I've got blood playing. Hope the game lives up to the hype. Most important question is "Where is Tailgate and when does it start" ?

There will be copious tailgating in and around both of the parking lots just outside of the stadium- one on either side of the railroad tracks because this is D3 and of course there are railroad tracks.  When?  Early.

Railroad tracks? Trying to tell me this game is being played at Macon??

We're currently looking for a few more folks who would like to be part of the Top 25 Fan Poll this season over on the General Football board.  There's currently 7 people participating but very little representation from the east and south regions. Our poll even was mentioned in an edition of Around the Nation a couple seasons ago comparing our results to that of the "major" polls.

To participate all you have to do is submit your ballot by PM to me by Tuesdays. Votes for each team may be revealed but no one's ballot will be revealed unless the person announces it themselves.

Preseason ballots are due by Sunday August 31st, but if you're interested and need a couple extra days let me know. :)

Good luck to everyone from the ODAC this season.

Wabash is also planning to host an open tailgate for fans of both schools. I don't know exactly where it'll be located, but I'm sure it'll be well-marked and in a fairly central area.

2.7 seconds. An average football player may need more time to score; a great one finds a way. I've seen greatness happen.

Anyone have any details of how this scrimmage went ... I was unable to attend?

Only thing I was told that stood out to me was that Ferrum only got about 2 or 3 first downs the whole day.

Weather.com now saying the high temp in Crawfordsville, IN on the 6th is 78f, 20% rain and 10mph winds.  Looks like it's going to be a beautiful late summer day.

Tigers looked really good in warm-up against FUMA yesterday.

On the Wabash football home page there's a picture of 2 players wearing undergarments that read "Always" on their right arm and "Fights" on the left.  I like it. It's a cool slogan. Uniform slogans were national news last week when Vanderbilt had "Anchor Down" on the back of their uniforms. The refs started to penalize them a timeout per quarter until Vandy showed them an email which appeared to show the NCAA granted permission. Turns out there was a miscommunication and Vandy had in fact been in violation of the rules.

Is it safe to assume that undergarments are not a part of this rule?  Seems to me they would be.  Just a curiosity more than anything. Anybody out there know the rule?

NCAA rule 1-4-5 talks about what you can and can't do with lettering/numbering on the game jerseys. Compression shirts live in the realm of the unregulated.

It took me a while but I found the rule regarding undergarments - I found it hard to believe the NCAA would not have a rule.

Uniforms and all other items of apparel (e.g., warm-ups, socks, headbands, T-shirts, wristbands, visors, hats or gloves) may bear only a single manufacturer's or distributor's normal label or trademark (regardless of the visibility of the label or trademark) not to exceed 2-1/4 square inches in area (i.e., rectangle, square, parallelogram) includingany additional material (e.g., patch) surrounding the normal trademarkor logo.b. No sizing, garment-care or other non-logo labels shall be on the outside.

It's not a big deal. But one can imagine a referee being hypersensitive after all the noise around Vandy's uniform issue last week.

I stopped by Guilford's practice tonight for about 45 minutes and spoke with an injured player and a parent.  They were both at the Ferrum scrimmage last Thursday.  They confirmed an earlier report that the Quakers had a lot of defensive stops and moved the ball quite well on offense.  The kicker hit a 45-yard FG and only had to punt once.

Sounds like your Quakers are ready to go. Good luck in your rival game on the 6th. I'm bounching off the walls awaiting this season.
