I spoke with GC Coach Rusiewicz at the Quaker Club breakfast this morning.  He said preseason practice started with 131 and he still has 124, so good numbers for the Quakers.  A couple of injuries, but enough depth to still field a strong team on both sides of the ball.  Seven PM Saturday cannot come soon enough!

Also, Quaker defender Satiir Stevenson getting a photo and some props on the opening page of d3football.  Nice!

Catholic vs. McDaniel game getting very interesting. McDaniel pushing to make a comeback.

D3MAFAN

Catholic blows a huge lead against McDaniel and missed a game tying FG as time expired.

Wow!  Has someone checked to see if our new buddy CUACARD is ok?  Or Pat, for that matter?

Seriously, ouch.  Flipping through the game summary, it looked like CUA was in the clear after the fumble recovery with a 31-14 lead in the fourth.  And then, incredibly, after giving up the 17-point lead and going down with 26 seconds to go, they managed to get into position to attempt a tying FG that missed.  What a gut-punch loss.

Kudos to McDaniel.

As ADL70 points out ... it came foreshadowed.

#22 Hampden-Sydney goes out to Indiana and keeps it very close, losing to #16 Wabash by less than 2 touchdowns, 34-21.

Randolph-Macon goes to Maryland and gets shattered by #14 Johns Hopkins, 42-3.

Hampden-Sydney probably will need to win the ODAC to get back into the NCAAs, but the Tigers are certainly very capable of winning the conference championship again.  First home game in 1 week, with Coast Guard Academy coming to Fulton Field.

My thoughts exactly...  Close?

About W&L handling Averett...

Yep. Hats off to Averett. They made plays and bottled up the Generals forcing W&L to throw a lot and not well. Too many mistakes and penalties killed the Generals. On the other hand it keeps alive W&L's streak of having never won a D3 road opener. You have to go back to the 60s to find a Generals' road opening win.  W&L has a lot of work to do if they are going to match last year's totals.

Close I'll give them. The actual quote is very close. Seems a stretch given how Wabash was going in the second half. HSC flattered a bit with the last TD, but the game is 60 minutes so you take the score as it ended.

Close? Maybe for the first quarter and part of the second. Time of possession tells the tale Wabash 37:39 and 22:31 for Hampden Sydney.  Wabash 6 sacks and  +3 takeaways.

Woodshed is closer then "close"

Nash & Walker were good... But pressure got to Nash/ their offense.  "Hammer"

The great thing is that they will not have to face a defense like that again before the playoffs.

Good Luck to the Tigers the rest of the season...  They are going to do some very good things.

Why should you go for it on 4th down?

Guilford put a thorough beat down on Greensboro tonight, 52-0.  Greensboro's in for a long season, I think.
