GC2005

HSC's defense is still very good and under rated; just the way we like it. 8 of the defensive players you saw last year are back and the ones starting for the first are better than the players they replaced. Lots of football to play before 11/8 but it sure would be fun to have GC come to town with both GC and HSC undefeated in the odac. I'd start my tailgate at 7:30 just to make sure I have the right mix by kickoff !!!!!

HSCTiger,

Trust me, I know Marty Ball is about scoring lots of points regardless of the weather.  I don't recall the 2009 game, but I recall some of the games I played against HSC.  I think sometimes I left the field going "what just happened?"   :)  I think guys like Ricca, Singh, and Clemmons gave me nightmares...it's my way of saying they were good players in a good system.  In fact, I think sometimes HSC has an underrated defense because the offenses are usually so good.  I recall the HSC/GC game last year.  I went to the game thinking, "wow, this might be a fun game to watch this year", only to quickly have my hopes dashed.  I think the HSC defense did a great job last year of flying around and putting pressure of Pawlowski and the rest of the offense.  It was certainly the best defensive effort I saw all year against GC.
I was at the 2009 washout and, I think, HSC put up 31 against a GC team on the decline.  It was raining so hard, I could not see the coin toss at the middle of the field.  Awful.  Last year, it was a beautiful day and the Tigers put up 52 against a team on the rise.  Again, perhaps more awful because I expected more than I did in 2009.  Hope springs eternal, but after 14 years, you have to be a bit philosophical.

2013 ODAC champion HSC lost to SC
2012 ODAC champion WL lost to BC
2011 ODAC champion HSC lost to RMC
2010 was the last time a team went undefeated in ODAC play. WL went 6-0.  They upset HSC.  HSC got an at large bid that year to the NCAA tournament.
2008 There were 4 teams at 4-2 in the conference. RMC was the champion and 1 of their 2 conference losses was to 1-5 WL.  By the way RMC started that season 2-4.

Way too much football to play to look past this weekend.

I enjoy your input and ask that you outline how you see the odac playing out this week.

RMC shouldn't have too big a problem with Catholic. Especially at home Friday night. 10+ points. Unless last week sent RMC into a tailspin...
HSC should beat W&L by 17+ points. It could be a lot more if W&L falls behind by 14 or so early.
Guilford should beat Shenandoah. Even on the road, they've got to be a 14 point favorite. How Guilford plays with the favorite tag will be interesting to see this year.

The only really interesting game should be E&H at Bridgewater. One of these two undefeated teams is going down. E&H should be the better team, but we all know Bridgewater, for whatever reason, can be a miserable place for visitors. E&H by 7. The Wasps are much more tested. Winning at Maryville and Sewanee should have knocked out the road jitters.

Pretty much the way I see it as well. E&H vs. BC is going to be interesting as you mentioned and as previously stated I'm not so confident about the spread in Lexington. Tigers have not won there since 2008 and I'm hoping it has not become a mental thing. Also interesting to see how CAU rebounds from the beating they took last week. If RMC runs them off the field, CAU is done for the year. RMC must rebound from the licking it took at E&H and I'm fairly certain they will. We'll see how GC handles itself on the road. I'm hearing pretty good things about the quality of athletes at SU and how much better they are being coached. GC should win fairly easily but if they let down just a little, that game could turn into a fist fight.

If CUA plays anything like they played last week again this year they won't come within 10 points of anyone.

I thought we made them look bad. Not sure what to think of that game. It was so bad I wanted to leave at halftime but my wife would not let me. CAU should schedule CGA; that would probably be a good game.

Rain is projected for all of the ODAC games this weekend. Always seems to mix things up a bit.

The only game I see the rain playing a factor into a surprising win would be SU and GC.  I think rain or shine HSC and RMC will win. EH and BC are a toss up regardless of weather.  GC lost to 1-9 Averett last year in the rain.

Oh yea that game was a fumble fest. Painful to watch.  Guilford had 10 fumbles in that game (lost only 3).  However, it appears they fixed what was broken as they are 9-2 since that game.

It's not that I don't think GC will win. I think they will. The rain might help slow down the GC passing game. I doubt it does much. SU leads ODAC in rushing - nearly 300 per game. The same things could be said for HSC v. WL. But based on the results I've seen thus far IMO GC and SU are closer in talent this year than are HSC and WL.  Anything can happen.  No one for any team should take anything for granted.

7 Turnovers will do that to you. CUA will clearly need to do better with the turnover battle the rest of the way. Tough game tonight at Macon which in my experience is the toughest place to play in the ODAC. Especially Friday night games at RMC I've found to be very difficult. Good luck to my cards tn hopefully getting their first ODAC win this season

SU up 22-0 in 1st qtr at 5:42 mark over Guilford.

Holton Walker TD pass to Nash Nance...yes, you heard that correctly. Walker to Nance. Tigers are up 21-3 in the 2Q.
