I can remember being a player and reading the boards back when the Bridgewater crew was posting on a regular basis.  I always enjoyed reading everyone's posts even though I didn't participate.  Football teams usually run in cycles, right now, GC may be on an upswing, but I plan on staying around even for any potential downswing.

HSCTiger74,

I think I will keep your idea in mind, but I better use these last two weeks as practice before I step into that arena.  Thanks for the heads up on it though.  Never crossed my mind until you brought it up.

The highlighted comment is a true alumni. Always a Quaker you are. You played with Brian Person? I just hang on to torture Hasa. I am hoping to find his Nova in the parking lot and make off with it
I've been a Quaker fan since the fall of 1970 and, truthfully, the down years have been more frequent than the up years.  The Quakes were 3-36 the four years I was on campus ... started 2-2 my freshman year and then lost 32 straight until the 8th game of my senior year.  Ouch!  Back then, it was men's hoops and we won the national championship when I was a junior.  The Nova can probably be hot-wired, so I'll have to buy one of those steering wheel locks or a boot for the tire!  lol

Abnrgr,

I sure did.  He was a few years ahead of me.  He was a great interior defensive lineman.  I had a few classes with him as well.  I hope he is doing well.  Yeah, we still try make it to get when we can because we live local.  The atmosphere at GC sure has changed over the years, but it's been for the better.

Mr. Ypsi

For the right price, I can be an armed guard for the Nova.

Hampden-Sydney can wrap up another ODAC Championship today, with the help of Shenandoah and RMC.  These outcomes will end it today:
  HSC defeats Guilford
  Shenandoah defeats Emory and Henry
  RMC defeats Bridgewater

If BC coach hasn't figured out his qb situation, he must be obtuse.

abnrgr

+ one for regaleagle for syntax. Obtuse not usually associated with in football. LOL :D. I am still laughing

Glad I could provide some laughter on a great football Saturday. Looks like a lot of close well played games today in the ODAC.

Does anyone know the ODAC rules for breaking a 4 way tie for the title?  Looking at 2008 when RMC received the AQ it's possible conference point differential was used. I am not 100% but I am pretty sure that is what is used in case of a 3 way tie where there's no head to head advantage.

If head-to-head doesn't resolve the tiebreaker, then it goes as follows, explanations courtesy of the ODAC manual:

1. 5-point tiebreaker.
Point values (in multiples of five) are assigned
to teams according to their order of finish during the regular season. Unless there is a
tie for first, the first place team is awarded a point value equal to 5 times the number of
teams in the league. (If there are six teams in the league, wins over the first-place team
are worth 30 points - a tie would be 15 points). IMPORTANT: The total number of
points distributed remains the same, regardless of the number of ties. Thus, a six-team league
always has 105 points for distribution, an eight-team league always has 180 points for
distribution. Here are the total points for distribution for the different sizes of leagues:26 ODAC Operations Manual
5 teams = 75 points for distribution
6 teams = 105 points for distribution
7 teams = 140 points for distribution
8 teams = 180 points for distribution
9 teams = 225 points for distribution
10 teams = 275 points for distribution
11 teams = 330 points for distribution
12 teams = 390 points for distribution
13 teams = 455 points for distribution
If teams are tied for a spot, their point values are equal. However, rather than assigning them a simple
multiple of five, the teams will divide the total points available for the two (or however many) spots they
take up, and that result is their point value.

2. Top-down comparison
A comparison of the tied teams based on their head-to-head results with
other teams in the league, starting from the top position in the standings and working down. The tie is
broken when one of the tied teams has a better record against the position in the standings in which the
tied teams are being compared.

3. Point differential between tied teams

4. Pre-determined lots. 2014-15 ODAC manual isn't up yet, so I don't know what the lots are. It's extremely unlikely it ever gets to this point in football given the scoring nature of the sport, unlike a sport like soccer where nearly every game is decided by 1, 2, or 3 goals. Football it's all over the map, so point differential between tied teams would surely resolve the tiebreaker if it even gets that far.

Probably last uttered by Andy Dufresne in The Shawshank Redemption.

Great game Quakers ! One great thing for the 2015 season. Nash Nance graduates !

Dufresne reference acknowledged. I want a 4 way tie with a coin flip in a seedy truck stop ala "Friday Night Lights"

It was a great game ... Guilford had a chance to win.

Nance proved his metal yesterday. I was worried that after last Saturday he might be nicked up too much to be effective on the ground. Great players always bounce back and he did.

Guilford stay in cover 2 with 6 men in the box and dared HSC to beat them by running the ball. It was not a bad strategy. But HSC showed yesterday that they can run the ball when they have to. Certainly a great team effort but Nash Nance showed his tremendous abilities and will to win with one of his best performances of his career.  375 yards running and passing with 5 TDs.

This is Beat Macon week and once again only RMC stands in the way of another ODAC championship for the Tigers.
