ODAC has gotten 2 spots in the playoffs before. CUA and RMC in 2008 and WL and HSC in 2010. Both times the ODAC runner up was 9-1.  With so few at large spots available there's little room for a conference runner up - especially one that is 8-2.

Don't forget 2000, when Emory and Henry won the title, and BC was a one loss wild card at 9-1.
NO, Tusky, You cannot MOON Dr. Geisert!

Guys I'll give you an honest answer and the ODAC championship was decided for this reason. HSC won the games it was supposed to win. They have the best player in the ODAC in QB Nance. HSC may have the weakest OL & DL in the ODAC. But they still won. In both of HSC losses BW and RMC hit Nance on almost every pass play. BW and RMC won because they neutralized Nance by attacking HSC weak OL.  Most QB's in our conference could not take the kind of beating Nance takes every game . But he played great against E&H and GC. Without Nance this year HSC would win maybe 3 conf games ? HSC defense has 1 sack in all of ODAC play. But they are the champs. HSC also has Walker too that can change a game at any time. Pawlowski has great stats but Nance was just better every time they played heads up.  Naccarato is 2-1 against Nance but Nance won the game that mattered last year for the ODAC championship. Guilford had their chance at HSC last week. The truth is that this kid was really good. I'm sure all the ODAC coaches would agree. Back to back ODAC championships prove my point . Kudos to BW and RMC on figuring out how to stop him. Shame on GC and E&H for not being able to stop him. I do not see HSC getting within 3 TD's of any good playoff team. Poor OL play and weak pass rush dooms HSC in playoffs.

As for Shenandoah ... it was very disappointing to see them end up the season on a 4 game losing streak while giving up 40+ in each of those 4 losses.

45-27
47-23
42-34
40-23

Not sure what to make of it ... things need to tighten up for next year.

Guilford is the best team in the ODAC right now!
Blasphemy!  Right now BC is playing the best football and Guilford was given two spots that won the game at their place.

Guilford's beaten BC three years in a row ... all due to good spots at our place ... oh wait, we have to alternate home games.

When I saw the Hornets in Winchester on Oct. 11, I thought they were going to have a breakthrough season.

ODACSuperFan I disagree with a few of your assessments. First the OL is not nearly as bad as you make them out to be.  They gave up 10 sacks in ODAC play - 5 of those came in one game. Shenandoah and RMC combined to have 31 sacks in ODAC play this fall. They combined for 1 sack against HSC.  You also mentioned how the HSC defense struggles to sack the QB. That is a true statement. But in the end they finished 2nd in the conference in scoring defense and tied for first in turnover margin at +6.

I doubt anyone has sang Nash Nance's praises or came to his defense more than I have on this board.   Sometimes even great players have bad games. So what. It happens. He's had sub par games before. EVERY time he has responded with a spectacular effort in his next game.

2012 at Averett 16/39 169 yards 1 TD and 2 INTs Next game vs. CNU 25/31 5 TDs 0 INTs
2013 at CNU 45/72 345 yards 0 TDs and 5 INTs next vs. USCGA 20/34 282 yards 2 TDs in first half!
2014 at BC 15/34 204 yards 1 TD and 2 INTs next vs. GC runs and throws for 375 yards and 5 TDs
2014 RMC 16/44 171 yards 1 TD and 2 INTs - next week we'll see.

I don't know why it is everyone dogs on our oline so much, they've really come in to themselves the last few games, and they definitely do not deserve the blame for the Macon game,  in fact they had one of their best games facing a very good RMC dline. Also a lot of those sacks come from Nash's  happy feet when the pressure isn't especially bad

Don't deflect. I'm talking right now today. So BC was in the title game what has that got to do with now. Do you get the premise?Would love to play tomorrow but we'll have to wait till next year.

HSC posters, first let me say that I mean no harm against your players or your team. It is just my opinion and my opinion only that your HSC line is very inexperienced and not as good as in years past. Losing an All American last year at Tackle and experienced lineman with only one returner ? would usually spell doom in the ODAC. Im sure your kids have improved and give it their all every game. It was only my assessment on complimenting your QB on his talents. I sincerely apologize because there was no intent to hurt kids. You guys won back to back ODAC titles no matter what my opinion is on this subject. You guys deserve the  championship. I just felt your QB was special. And I thought your 3 losses exposed your inexperienced line on Offense and Defense. I also forgot to mention that Favret probably had bad gameplans  in your losses. He refuses to run the ball . With that said , good luck in the playoffs. Congrats on back to back ODAC titles !

What do you think the HSC seniors (and fans) will remember in 25 years?  Losing to RMC in convincing fashion (being beat in all phases of the game), or backing into a Championship when they may be the fourth or fifth best team in the conference.  I think that several HSC guys this morning would rather have the RMC win than a less than stellar or convincing ODAC championship.  I suspect that GC, EHC, BC, or even RMC would fare better next week than HSC.

You have 33 posts - congratulations.  Don't patronize me.  I attended the BC at GC game.  The Quakers were the better team  and it had nothing to do with favorable ball spots.  HSC has an edge on GC this year and I wish them well in the playoffs.  BC had a great year and I clearly saw the Eagles were quite talented, but I don't think BC is the best team in the ODAC ...  honestly, I don't know who is ... a four-way tie for first screams parity.  Best wishes for many, many well-reasoned and less inflammatory future posts.
