Looks like Wesley has already called off the dogs.  This was getting nasty early.

Wesley has their playoff roster. There are no dogs to call off.
Hampden Sydney College
ODAC Champions 77, 82, 83, 87, 07, 09, 11, 13, 14
NCAA Playoffs - 77, 07, 09, 10, 11, 13, 14

They would still have a second string.

That's not how it works. They don't just bring everyone in the 2 deep.

Understood, you bring 53 players, so you can certainly do so (bring the 2 deeps).  Or, bring the best 53, regardless of position.

Wesley shows a lot of class and sportsmanship.  They probably could have easily scored over 100 points.  No ODAC school would have won today, but HSC faded fast at the end, probably the fifth best ODAC team at the end of the season.  Hopefully, next year there will be a clear ODAC Champion with no tie breaker.  HSC injuries didn't help, tough position and tough draw.

No need to talk about the game much as it got ugly fast with all the ints in the first quarter leading to the blow out.  I hope that Nance's injury is not too serious.  Question for the HSC fans, does your team usually leave warmups with 30 still to go before game time?  Seemed weird to me and they come out totally flat to start the game and get run over.  Not sure if it made a difference but with how the game started it looks like it may have.  Hopefully everyone has safe travels back home.

Nice season for the Tigers.  Sorry HSC wasn't at their best in November ...

To my knowledge, the NCAA does not "hire" bus lines for playoff teams.

Yes and no, right? The NCAA pays for it; not sure who makes the booking.
The schools book all that stuff.
Well I must correct myself, NCAA handles this stuff, so you can blame the NCAA for yet another thing.

I'm not sure when Wesley went in from warm up, but I do remember looking at the game clock and it was almost 19 minutes before kickoff when I sat down and neither team was on the field. We came out I thought fairly good. First drive 3 and out. Then a Wesley TD. Second drive picked about 30 yards before punting, then we picked off Wesley and returned it 50 yards. Not sure that going in from warm-up 10 minutes later would have helped.

On a side note. In the first quarter there was a Wesley supporter standing in the end zone being exceptionally vocal. He was basically making an ass of himself.  Before a kickoff an official went over to tell this guy to shut up. Wesley head coach Mike Drass walked out of the coaching area down nearly to the 15 yard line and interrupted the official by saying something to the effect of "get him out of here". Very cool and the right thing to do. Best of luck to Wesley in the playoffs.

Another side note. The bus carrying the offensive players broke down AGAIN!  This time on the way BACK to HSC. It was a really bad day for the offense.

You can still "call off the dogs" through the play-calling.  Mount Union usually has to do this in their first round games.  But I think the Wesley guys have said they didn't play well in the 2nd half - I'm sure HSC's defense had something to do with that.

I didn't see the HSC standout WR on the stat sheet and was curious if he was hurt early on ?

He was out for the game, as was arguably our top defensive player in John Moore.

Walker was in a boot. Warmed up but didn't play.

HSC fans you had another good season in conference play. Also what a great moral victory by your defense after the first quarter !  Wow !  I know the score don't indicate this but your defense really stepped up on a very athletic team. It seems your defense played on a short field most of the first Quarter. Your underclassmen and Seniors on defense have to feel pretty good today for finishing the game so competitively against much better athletes than they see in the ODAC . The offense on the other hand looked like a victim of "Marty ball". The poor man doesn't have the personnel to throw the deep ball but he continues to do it every series ! It was a recipe for disaster with the athletes Wesley puts on the field. I really feel sorry for your QB. Nance's athleticism and strong arm may of helped you win the ODAC but it was a detriment in your losses because of your coaches play calling. Favret puts him in no win situations throwing deep balls into heavy coverage over and over . I'm really not sure if Favret may not be a good enough coach to upset a better team or teams with better coaching and athletes. HSC recruits really good players but the coaches in the ODAC are better now and may  be "knocking at the door" to end Favret's reign. Favret is so predictable with his downfield passing and trick plays that every ODAC team and all the head coaches may be getting wiser at defending his offenses. HSC had a great run these last few years but the tide may turn soon. Congratulations on winning the ODAC ! But I will say that yesterday was no surprise to any of us watching and listening to "Martyball" ! Sorry but I speak  the truth guys. Most of you HSC posters defend your team (which you should ) but I'm just stating the facts and it is only my opinion.

HSCtigerfan, I think Wesley went off the field with about 15 or so to go.  As far as the fan being removed, I heard him yelling and then noticed that he was no longer there.  Drass is not a fan of ignorant fans and has had ex-players who have become too vocal removed from games.  Again, as has been stated many times on this site, cheer for your team as loud and proud as you want, but keep it clean and appropriate.  I can't believe you had another bus breakdown.  That really stinks for the guys after a tough game.
