W&L's turf field handles the water pretty well. It's an advantage for W&L to some small degree, but I expected Guilford to play a balanced offense anyway. Wind would be better for W&L than rain because I think W&L is more susceptible defensively to the pass, so if the weather shifts Guilford's play calling a little bit that might be the most help the Generals can hope for. Offensively, as was pointed out, W&L is as likely to slip on wet turf or mishandle on option pitch as any other offense slipping and dropping passes. Rain might lead to seeing how good Guilford's front 7 is against the non-stop pounding of Marshall Hollerith. But that only works if W&L can stay close going into the second half when the pounding starts to take its toll.

How much rain is forecast for the Lexington area ... and will it be raining from 1-4 pm?

4 to 10 inches. Wind blowing 15 to 20. Rain begins Friday nite through Sunday morning. Going to be a mess all through out the entire odac. No where to hide from the elements. Entire Commonwealth will be impacted by first the low pressure system and then by the hurrican. Hurrican should begin to affect us early Sunday morning, low pressure system will begin affecting us as early as tonight, no later than Friday afternoon.

Don't know if anyone noticed, but Austin and Southwestern of the now 4-team SCAC (with TLU and Trinity) are playing each other twice this season - home and away.  That's one way to fill your schedule!

The conference instituted a double round-robin schedule in 2016, probably because it's hard for everyone to find 7 non-conference games every year.   With the ASC adding McMurry and Belhaven into the mix, they won't have as many open weeks to schedule the SCAC teams as they do today so it's probably a matter of helping the SCAC teams fill out their schedules without having to travel all over the country to find open dates.   I'd rather see the SCAC get back to seven teams but there doesn't seem to be any motion by Centenary, Schreiner, Colorado College, or the Univ of Dallas to start a program, and there just aren't any independents out there any more.   I'd hoped the SCAC would snag Hardin-Simmons, whose profile could fit quite well in the SCAC, but they seem happy where they are.

For all of those planning to attend HSC vs. CUA game. All on campus activities scheduled for Parents weekend have been postponed. The football game has been moved to a high school in Lynchburg (not sure which one, formal notice pending) and will kick off at 1pm. Not having turf makes weather conditions like these very problematic.

Good luck to all this weekend, minus CUA of course.
Not just the lack of turf the problem. Soccer plays on turf and their game is being moved to Lynchburg. Both fields stand a strong possibility of being flooded if we get as much rain as they are projecting.

I hope the football field is covered !!!!

What happened to Pawlowski? Boxscore says he only had 10 pass attempts today.

Injured mid 2nd qtr.  Sideline hit that left him addled. Walked off but my guess concussion. Score was 3-3 at the time. W&L is for real guys.

Tigers owned the last LOS today. HSC is once again the team to beat in ODAC. Is anyone from RMC out there?  1-3 to start the season pretty much stinks. Is Arruza's job safe?

Didn't see much of the W&L game since I was at B-SC watching Chicago. Big win for my Generals as I kept up with the online play by play and video when I could get it. Hopefully Pawlowski is OK. His understudy did a good job and Guilford played it out to the end, but W&L looked sharp defensively. Took everything the Generals had, but that is a very good win in Lexington. This isn't last year...

W&L lost the turnover battle (2-0), the penalty battle (marginally), third down efficiency, and the kick return battle but still won TOP, total yards, and average gain per play. Underhill also hit a 51 yard field goal. He is a weapon but that whole offense is looking strong. We usually struggle on the bye weeks as teams get an extra week to prepare, so I'm happy to be through it.

Got to believe the weather helped, but I'll take that win however the Generals pulled it out! Good luck to Guilford the rest of the way and fingers crossed nothing serious for Pawlowski.

The weather may have help but not much. HSC played in Lynchburg today and there was a little wind and little rain. No it was not perfect but not horrible. The weak OOC schedule hurt GC sooner than I thought it might. Boom goes the ODAC!  Wide open for every team - except RMC.  They started their 3rd qb this year. Yikes!

I watched it and was most impressed with W&L defense. They got after it all game and made key stops.

Too early to start discussing next week's W&L at HSC game? Talk about a tough way to start your conference play for W&L...

HELL NO!  It's never too early to talk football. The WL game is always tough. This year they have the QB and RBs to get the job done.  If WL can win this week they have to feel as if they are in the drivers seat for a ODAC championship. HSC found some new fans this week in the Quakers. GC fans have to be rooting for an HSC victory this weekend.  The GC QB being out for a large portion of the game I'm sure affected the offense today for GC. But injuries are a part of this game we love. Let's all hope he's healthy and can play again soon.

Koonce is the real deal. As is the HSC OL. Koonce has over 400 yards rushing in last 3 games. 203 today. This is the second week in a row HSC ran for over 200 yards. The passing attack is still there but HSC has shown that they can adapt to what the defense is giving them.

Congrats to WL on a nice win. The Tigers are hungry for another home game. There should be a huge crowd this weekend. Today's "home" game was played an hour from HSC on a turf field due to weather. Looking forward to a great game this weekend.

I'm telling you. It was 3-3 mid 2nd qtr when he went out. Their defense was stout. Catholic came back to Earth and played a decent team and you exposed their weak defense. HSC will have all they want from W&L. In other news BC ov er SU  39-21. I think BC found an identity if the coach isn't too obtuse to admit it.
