SU is the best odac team I've seen to date. Hard for me to believe their record is not better. Lots of talent on offense, fast at every skill position, big strong qb that can throw it. They will improve going forward. Lots of weapons that really spread the defense.

Bold statement. I keep expecting them to take a step forward but I don't see them winning more than 2 or 3 ODAC games, again, this year.

Not really a bold statement but more of a summary of what I saw on the field. Those guys can flat move the football.
I know HSC defense is not the best by a long shot, but few teams move the ball on them the way SU did, thank god for turnovers and stupid penalties. I expect SU to be a factor sooner than later.

...Guilford sits at 16th, Shenandoah in 33rd, Catholic 48th, H-SC 70th, E&H 87th, and RMC at 100. Bridgewater at 149 is the ONLY ODAC school not in the top 50% of DIII for offense...

Those stats don't lie. But I think if HSC had scheduled Averett instead of Wabash their stats would rank significantly higher nationally. Especially on offense. In ODAC only games HSC ranks first in points, yards, passing and first downs. They also rank third in rushing. Not too bad for a team that everyone outside of HSC said was going to be a rebuilding year.

An excellent point. Though playing Catholic and Shenandoah, the two worst ODAC defenses (in conference games), helps balance it out. Oddly enough R-MC leads that stat. So are Catholic and Shenandoah that bad because they played H-SC, or is H-SC that good because they played Catholic and Shenandoah?

going to miss playing Wabash next year. I love watching their defense and I'm afraid we will end up with an OOC schedule that will not be too inviting. CNU will be good competition, I hope we don't go the way of the odac ooc scheduling for the other two games.

I was impressed by the Freshman QB for Shenandoah, Hayden Bauserman.  He is a big kid with a strong, accurate arm, and he has the courage to stand in the pocket and deliver the ball.

The games are close every week this year (again)--such a fun league.

EH needs to step up this weekend. They've shown that they are not the best at defending the pass which should not be as big a problem this weekend. If WL wins, EH cannot win the ODAC and it would require WL to lose their last 2 games to give possibly HSC or GC a chance assuming one of those win their remaining games.

An EH win gives EH, GC and HSC huge hopes.  A WL loss to EH will keep the excitement of the ODAC title going at least extra week. So this week Wasps the Quakers and the Tigers are with you!

That was a "press release" that came into my e-mail inbox.

The press release did not mention the low rent punch thrown by Qlyl Middelijn. Heck SU honored his play by putting his picture catching a pass against HSC as the cover photo for the game article on their website.  The guy was ejected. It was not a shoving match, this was a full blown sucker punch after an incomplete pass in front of the world. Anyone know ODAC rule for him playing this week?

I wouldn't count on that happening; W&L's week 10 game is in Lexington vs Catholic.

The D1 rule is ejection in the 2nd half, out for the next game; ejection in the first half, out for the 1st half of the next game.  I don't know if D3 has the same rules (but I suspect they do for this).  And while conferences can have more severe penalties if they choose, I'm pretty sure they can't have LESS severe penalties.

I'll admit the games set up OK for W&L and I'm excited to get to Selfie. Leaving at 5 a.m. for the drive which should put me there a little after 11. Looking like a nice day, which is a real bonus.

W&L game notes are up:

http://generalssports.com/sports/fball/2015-16/releases/EHC_Notes

W&L is 4-1 in their last 5 games at Selfe, but 5-15 all time. We had a 18 year futile streak against E&H at one point, so I'm not surprised. The two best rushing games in ODAC history have both been W&L's this season, running for 600+ yards versus Averett and 500+ yards against Bridgewater. And it has now been a full calendar year since W&L threw for a touchdown. Mildly surprised they haven't gotten one yet this season since they have been as effective through the air as I've seen in the last 3 seasons.

Jk

Are you grading your own paper ?

I don't think your Generals have anything to worry about @ E&H IF they play their game. E&H will score but I see a 7 point General victory. It appears W&L is just better than the rest of the odac this year. That goal line stand at HSC is looming large.
Shame on us for not scoring. I refuse to watch the film of that play but obviously W&L excuted when it had to. All I can say is congrats on a job well done.

jknezek

We will see. I do think the SID does a good job with W&L's game notes. A lot of it is repetitive but they do try and find something interesting about every match up or new milestone. The biggest problem with football is there is only one game a week. Leaves a lot of dead time. Fortunately the men's and women's soccer teams are also going for regular season crowns this week. The Generals are trying for an early jump on the Commissioner's Cup! I don't think the men's teams appreciated their third place finish last year and needing the women to bail them out in the overall.

Also saw the new athletic field master plan has purposely mentioned and left space for a softball diamond. I expect within the next decade W&L will start up the only ODAC sport they don't participate in.
