Although the upsets can and often do happen in ODAC play last week with the top 4 playing the bottom 4 picking was easy. This week is no different except for EH and WL. Obviously, JK and all General fans are pulling for a win.  EH fans know that it's impossible to win the ODAC if they lose. HSC and GC fans should know that unless WL losses this game and 1 more their title hopes are also dashed. There's a lot of positive energy flowing EH's way.  This game is the biggest game all year for WL. I think they caught GC by surprise and a HSC team still trying to find itself early in the season. No one at GC or HSC thought at the time that WL would be 7-0. But they are and EH knows their only shot is by beating them. It's a huge game for both teams and others within the ODAC. Should be interesting.
I think the Generals played well in the Guilford game, but the concussion to Pawlowski looms large.

Regardless of the QB.  Pawloski is excellent. No one can disagree. But they only scored 3 points when he did play. I bet most of the GC faithful would have thought at that point in the season that GC would win over WL with or without him. GC did back him up with senior QB that did not turn the ball over. That's why I say GC was taken by surprise.

GC have been no where near as dominant as some expected since starting ODAC play.  Looking just at the 3 common opponents the scores between both WL and GC have been similar. GC and WL overwhelmed Averett.  WL beat RMC on the road in a close game while GC blew RMC out at home. Meanwhile WL crushed BC at home while GC won by 3 over BC on the road.

If WL wins the title this year they will have most certainly earned it. Every team has injuries.  It really stinks when it's at a position like QB. If it helps (I know it doesn't) HSC wishes you guys had won at WL too. But it wasn't to be.
Well, there were a couple of factors that day ... the early injury to Pawlowski (GC was up 3-0 and driving), it was raining (favors a running game, I think) and GC missed a 40 plus yard FG and, to their credit, W&L hit a 51 yarder (longest in school history).  I also know Guilford got a letter of apology from the league office for missed calls (I've heard 4) that greatly influenced the outcome.  One was a fumble recovery by GC that the officials said was an incomplete pass after the W&L QB lost it and then batted it and one was on the onside kick recovery (from my vantage point looking straight across the line of scrimmage, I think it went 11 + yards, but it was overturned as being less than 10.)  You say Guilford's back-up is a senior and he is, but that's 4 years of maybe 40 snaps in live games (counting the W&L game).

I am not begrudging W&L ... they have played great.  You can't argue with a team that's 7-0.  I also personally don't think a game by game comparison of scores is always valid ... coaches have different philosophies and the ebb and flow is different based on so many factors.  Do I think Guilford is a better team than W&L?  Yes, I do ... just not on 3-Oct-15 from 1-4 pm.

I still have hope GC can go 9-1 and earn a playoff spot, hopefully with W&L.  I know it's a longshot and if we lose another, so be it.  But I will always think this whole season and the 4-year careers of these great seniors will boil down to an unfortunate concussion that changed the complexion of that game and, with it, their season.  If you're a DI team with one loss, what a great bowl you'd get!

Go Quakers.  Go ODAC.

The incomplete pass was really a fumble.  The onside kick... I watched the broadcast at least ten times.  Officials were in the right position and both agreed on the call.  Kicker recovered 11 yards away but looked like he touched the ball just passed 9 yards.  Watching live I thought they got it wrong... watching it over and over... I thought they got it right.   ???

Against RMC, the game winning drive started at the three yard line.  If you watch the highlights (and if you were there live) it looks like the RMC player touched the punt while his feet were in the end zone.  D3 officiating is always spotty, but I'm glad they show up so there can be games!

The Generals need only to win 1 of their last 2 games to finish the season with the ODAC championship.  They're playing Catholic at home and Shenandoah away.  What a surprise it would be if they lost both!

Generals have stepped up week after week.  Kudos.

9-1 and turning in gear is a tough pill.

Hasa good luck on a Washington and Lee QB getting sick from too much chesse and wine at the next tailgate or his bow tie is a little tight. Catholic laying on 49 is a little crazy too

What a season for you guys :)

Nice game to have driven 420 miles to see. W&L came to play. Took control with an early E&H mistake and never looked back. The Wasps had no answer for the option, which went over 500 yards on the ground again. Defense played well. The Generals give up the yards but not the points.

Next week will be interesting. W&L needs to keep up the intensity. Catholic can score, especially through the air. W&L gives up a lot of passing yards. Winning the conference in Lexington should be good motivation.

Thanks Generals for the entertainment today. Job well done!

Your guys seem to be getting stronger as the season progresses jk; well done today. At this point I think that it's almost a foregone conclusion that they'll take the championship (Catholic may score some points but I don't see them winning in Lexington) so I'll be pulling for the Gennies to win out, get a good seed in the tournament, and win at least their first-round game, maybe more.

CUA can score, but they were always playing catch-up today.  They led briefly at 21-19 because GC left 6 points on the table ... a missed 23 yard FG and 3 muffed or missed PATs.  Pawlowski had 611 yards passing, 37 rushing and 7 TDs passing.

The Tigers played really well yesterday.  Defense obviously played exceptional. The win gave Coach his 14 winning season in 15 years. It's also the Tigers 9th winning season in a row. By far the longest such current streak in the ODAC.  This streak of success has occured at HSC twice before - 1951 thru 1959 and 1969 thru 1977. The first streak was split between 2 coaches - Jim Hickey and Bob Thalman. The other by HSC legend Stokely Fulton. Congrats to Coach Favret and all Tigers.

Also congrats to HSC RB Kyree Koonce who became the first ODAC player to rush for over 1000 yards this season. He now has 1039 yards in 8 games. 850 yards have came in 5 ODAC games.  That's more than any other ODAC RB has in all 8 games.

I would think the Tigers would have a long-shot chance at a Pool C bid, if they can get a good solid win on the road at Guilford, defeat Randolph-Macon in Ashland, and the Washington and Lee Generals win out.  In that case, the Tigers' only losses would be to #9 Wabash and an undefeated (10-0) W&L team.

Guilford might also have a long-shot chance at a Pool C if they beat the Tigers and finish 9-1, with their only loss to the undefeated Generals.

Hoping you are right!

HSC also has a SOS of 53rd (GC's is 185th)  The CNU win over Salisbury did nothing to  hurt their chances either. If you assume UWW and MHB both get a Pool C bid there's only 4 spots left. I agree it's a long shot but stranger things have happen.

Which is better 9-1 with a win over 7-3 HSC and a loss to a top 20 WL and a bottom tier SOS, or 8-2 record with a win over a 8-2 GC and losses to a Top 10 Wabash and a Top 20 WL and a top tier SOS?  I'm not being rhetorical.

First of all, you have to remember that both Guilford's and H-SC's SOS will change between now and Selection Sunday. Guilford's will get a fair amount better and Hampden-Sydney's will come down a little bit. Guilford would have the better record and the head-to-head advantage so Guilford would have a much better shot at getting in, I believe.
