Guilford handles Catholic in the big city  49-35  Catholic is going to score, but they can't stop anyone else. Only R-MC has scored less than 30, and that was R-MC's biggest conference number so far.

I'm taking credit for this one!

W&L slides past E&H in Emory 45-35 Seriously hoping this is true. Want to see my boys win a big one. Can E&H stop the option? This will be Coach Newsome's test. By the time W&L played E&H last year they were so injured the offense barely functioned. This year is a different kettle of fish. E&H will score, but can they keep up?

My fears were overblown.

Shenandoah overwhelms R-MC in Ashland 35-24 Shenandoah needs to stop shooting themselves in the foot. They have been competitive against H-SC and Guilford, but turnovers and penalties cost them. Oddly enough they didn't play as well against Bridgewater or Catholic, so this could be a squad playing to the opponent's level as opposed to playing their own game. That could let R-MC hang around.
I really kept trying to talk myself into R-MC winning this one. I should have gone with my gut not my head.

Hampden-Sydney beats Bridgewater at home 42-21 I wasn't real impressed with Bridgewater last week. I think H-SC can just out talent them, especially at home. The Eagles are mired in a 3 game losing streak against the top of the ODAC and this should solidify their place in the conference right now. Tough schedule left them at E&H, home for Guilford, at W&L, at H-SC in consecutive weeks.

I was right it wasn't competitive, I was wrong about the score.

It's also why I keep trying to talk myself into R-MC picking up a home win over Shenandoah this week. The Hornets make a lot of mistakes, despite their high powered offense, and R-MC is at home. I'm struggling to think of an 0-7 ODAC season for the Yellow Jackets, but chances are running out. Plus there are lots of stinging insects in the ODAC and I get tired of trying to remember who is who and just randomly pick one to win...

Dang it....

Interesting stats you quoted. No doubt Marty has done an outstanding job leading our program. I think the job he has done this year is might be one of his best. No one really knew what to expect, now the Tigers have an opportunity to finish 8-2, which would exceed expectations. HSC is lucky to have him and they will be back in the hunt again next year.

Haven't had much good to say about the Jackets, but on Saturday, they played an inspired and efficient game.  No punts, 4 for 4 on 4th down, only 2 penalties for 10 yards, 13-16 passing and no interceptions.  Starting the fourth QB this year, it's no surprise that its been challenging.  Jackets have kept their head up and played well, especially after the tough WLU loss.  Saw the QB in practice this week, looked good, strong arm and 6-4 frame.  I think he could win out for the Jackets.

If GC beats HSC and finishes 9-1, I'll pull for them to get a pool C (they will not) but if they do it is certainly an advertisement
to schedule really weak OOC opponents.

It appears W&L played its best game last week, congrats. I don't know how to address the GC vs. CUA game. Did either defense dress for the game ? Did they decide to play 7 on 7 ? How in the he## can two teams score that many points. Must have been fun to watch.

HSC played its best game of the year, I thought. Few mistakes, offense was effective, defense was outstanding.

And yes,RMC is pulling the same trick they do every year, get better towards the end of the season and try to make its season by beating HSC.
From an outsider it always seems to me that GC always tries to run up scores and pad stats when possible. Especially on weaker teams and out of conference weak schedule.  This was a game that GC couldn't stop CUA so the stat line got padded because of poor defense on both sides. GC has the stats but it might take a miracle to get a ring. Very frustrating for GC. Marty Favret & Co. have owned GC for years but not sure about this year. HSCTiger fan can elaborate on HSC dominance over GC !
No further elaboration required.

I certainly hope RMC does not win out. I'm tired of the trend in The Game, don't want another Thanksgiving ruined !!!
In some respects I'm glad to see RMC improving, good for the odac.
B'ball is coming and I'm sure you guys will have much to talk about, as always, during the b'ball season.

Three ODAC teams in weekly poll (including receiving votes) heading into week 9?  Bet that's never happened before.

Yes. Helped by the scheduling oddity that gave H-SC and Guilford early conference losses but left their game against each other until late.

3 in the poll, only 1 going to playoffs.
hsc win over cnu starting to look better, for what it is worth (absolutely nothing)

Hasa

Might make the trip to GC. If so, hope to introduce myself.
May the best team win. Will GC dress the defensive team this week !!!!!

Pat Coleman

There's only one in the poll, remember. Everyone else is in others receiving votes and that just means one or two out of 25 voters thinks you're a Top 25 team. Much lower bar.

Look forward to meeting any Tiger fans ... it will be a big game for both teams.  It's supposed to be rainy through Thursday, but be clear and bright on Saturday.  Guilford's turf field will be in good shape no matter what.

Speaking of the defense, I hope they show up.  Lol. It was a bend (a lot), but don't break kind of day.  Except for a few minutes, Guilford was always ahead and CUA was playing catch-up.  I don't think we'll see 101, but I bet the over and under will be 60 at least.

I hope our running game will be effective and keep your qb off the field. That kid must be something although he has yet to light up hsc, in fact, i think we pitched a shut out last time we visited greensboro. not predicting that will happen again but i'll bet the hsc defense is the best gc will play against this year. predicting a 35 to 28 game, not predicting the winner.

jknezek

slim pickings for the ODAC play of the week this week. I'd say just about any of those happens every week.

Pawlowski's good ... makes smart decisions ... although he did throw his first INT of the season versus CUA.  He basically missed the W&L game and has 32 TDs with one INT.  Pretty sure he's over 10,000 yards for his 38-game career.   Hope it's not like the 2007 game where HSC had 8 TDs rushing and GC had 7 TDs passing for a 56-49 Tiger win.

Ironically, the score was 35-28 at HSC last season.

jknezek

Here's a happy thought for the ODAC. In W&L's offensive stats, every yard rushing or passing has been by a junior, sophomore, or freshman. Not a single offensive yard gained by a senior. Even the kicker is a junior, so not a single offensive point has gone to a senior. 1 of W&L's kick/punt return yards came from a senior. The only ray of sunshine for the other teams, two of the starting Olinemen are Seniors...

On defense it is a little different as two seniors are in the top 5 for tackles and there are a few other regular senior contributors, but over half the defense and most of the tackles should be back as well.

why in the he## do you take the time to research such information ?
i guess you are suggesting W&L will repeat in 2016 !!!
probably will, i have an idea what returns next year at hsc. i think we graduate 3 on the ol, TE, 1 WR, i think all others return.
on defense i believe entire DL returns, will graduate 1 lb, 3 dbs. but we have three sec transfers coming in january !!!!
