It's public record stuff. I don't think it's a problem to link it here. If he didn't want it linked here, he shouldn't have done something that got him charged with what is classified as a felony. Under 1/2 oz is a misdemeanor.

Fingers crossed he learns from this, because he won't get another chance if these charges stick. As it is, every future employer is going to ask about it based on a simple Google search.

My issue is acting that he has so much concern. If Scots13 were that concerned I don't he would have further embarrassed the kid.
Hampden Sydney College
ODAC Champions 77, 82, 83, 87, 07, 09, 11, 13, 14
NCAA Playoffs - 77, 07, 09, 10, 11, 13, 14
The "Game" 60 wins and counting...
11/18/2018 Wally referred to me as Chief and admitted "I don't know about that!"

High school kids are just that-kids. Koonce is an adult that was charged with a felony. Is it unfortunate? Hell yes. Should be swept under the rug under the rug? Hell no. Koonce isn't the only kid at HSC, Maryville, et al that has been arrested and probably won't be the last.

But, when you are the face of the offense at a school like HSC you are in the public eye more so than a third string kicker. That's a fact.

What makes you think you know my intentions? It is definitely not to "further embarrass" because, let's face it...D3boards.com isn't headline news. It's a discussion board for like minded D3 fans.

If this happened at any other school, you wouldn't be making such a stink at a linked article.Get off your high horse.

Scots13, you have any more good news? I heard about this over the weekend. My youngest son is a soph. at HSC and he told me about the arrest. Hopefully the court system will cut him a break and he will learn a life long lesson from this chapter of his life.

I don't see the younger ODAC coaches hitting the road for awhile. My concern is that Guilford might leave to join the USASAC and really put the odac in the hole.
I don't see Guilford leaving the ODAC.  I hope I speak for the coaches and administration, but I think Guilford sees itself much more aligned with the ODAC in culture, philosophy, history, endowment and academics than it does with the USASAC ... it just happens to be south of the Virginia state line by about 50 miles.

Glad to hear and I hope you are correct about Guilford staying in odac. I wonder what the odac is doing, if anything, to get another football playing member. Maryville would be a great fit, no clue if they have any interest.

Me too!  I like the idea of Maryville, but I'm pretty sure the Scots want a conference for all sports ... not just football ... and the ODAC is pretty full for basketball, soccer and baseball, etc.  Was Maryville a full member or football only when they were in the ODAC earlier?

football only, but I think Maryville would make us a better basketball conference as well.

Pretty sure Maryville was a full member back in the early '80s. They played basketball there too.

perhaps Maryville was a full member. really did not follow hsc athletics in the 80's so I'm really just guessing.
Either way, would love to have them back.

Some websites I researched on the ODAC report Maryville was a full member from 1980-88.

Wickipedia isn't an academic source, per se, but it generally provides good leads:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Old_Dominion_Athletic_Conference

See the history paragraph. Maryville was a full member. Unfortunately there isn't a source provided for the Maryville information.

M'ville's own website has a reference to the ODAC years but does not explicitly state all sports, but the implication is there.

http://www.mcscots.com/information/Athletic_Program_History

I think we can probably say Maryville was a full member.

hscathletics

Maryville was a full member. Didn't click the Wiki link, but I;m sure it's on there, Catholic was a former full member around the same time as Maryville.

Piecing together Guilford's 2016 football schedule from what's known and some educated guesses:

9/3  Greensboro (Soup Bowl)  7 pm (guess)
9/10 Methodist 7 pm (guess)
9/17 @ Averett 6 pm
9/24 Open (guess)
10/1 CUA 1 pm (guess)
10/8 @ HSC 1 pm
10/15 W&L 1 pm
10/22 @ Shenandoah 1 pm
10/29 Bridgewater 1 pm
11/5 @ RMC 1 pm (guess)
11/12 @ E&H 1 pm

Looks as though some of the dates have been flipped a little in the ODAC schedule:  e.g. CUA and HSC early.  Also seems ODAC views E&H as the traditional season-ending game for the Quakers.

jknezek

I do feel like lately the league has tried to adjust the schedule every two years or so to try and put key match ups toward the end of the season, while at the same time avoiding more than 2 straight road games in conference. Could be a coincidence, but it has felt that way at least since the late naughts.

Aside from Randy Mac and H-SC, are there other strong traditional rivalries in the ODAC for football?

I have not been able to discern them. Thanks
