What are you talking about ? HSC scrimmaged Ferrum yesterday ?

He said joint practice, not scrimmage.

I really like that idea.  NFL teams do it, but I've never heard of college teams doing it. Breaks the monotony of all day every day football with the same group of guys. Had to be refreshing to see other guys in a practice setting that wasn't a scrimmage or game. Kudos to whoever set that up.

Speaking of NFL teams, the Panthers had their second joint practice with the Titans yesterday ... and I think we play them in preseason tomorrow.

My friend, and former Guilford football letterman, Cliff and I WILL be in Montgomery on September 2nd.  If any Huntingdon fans or DIII enthusiasts in Alabama will be at the game, let me know.  It's always great to put a face and a personality with fellow d3football posters.  Go Quakers!

I'm likely to be there Hasa. No promises yet if my wife decides we need to go on a motorhome trip over Labor Day, but at this point anywhere we were likely to go is probably booked.

"joint" practice surely has a scrimmage feature included. Not really sure what the difference may be, but I do agree, running into fresh "meat" is more fun than beating on the same guys over and over on the same old practice field, day in day out. Getting real close to best time of year; college football, best golf weather of the year, college kids heading back to school (and out of my house), Thanksgiving & Christmas seasons, high school football, etc. Much to look forward to.

Agreed. What I meant was it wasn't broadcast as a "true" scrimmage. I have a feeling it was more relaxed than what the HSC/Greensboro scrimmage will be in Richmond. Ferrum practice didn't seem to be broadcast everywhere like the Richmond scrimmage.  Get in, get out, get some good work in and let's go home.

Grab a cold one, Dad. You earned it.

Middle of August and it's Week 1 in Tennessee. Crazy early start, I think.

HSC practiced with Ferrum yesterday. From what I hear the Tigers looked pretty good. HSC scrimmages Greensboro next Saturday in Richmond at Redskins practice facility. Then it's game on from there!

Yes, this is a new thing this year.  When they took away two-a-days for good, they allowed teams to hold a practice session with another team- in addition to the already allowed scrimmages that we're used to seeing the week before games start.

How your Little Giants going to be this year ? I really enjoyed that home and away with you guys. Hope it can happen again in the future.
Best of luck and may your guys play without injury, and play well.

I'm sure there will be a pretty sweet write up previewing the LGs in Kickoff (publishing Tuesday!!).   ;)

I think it's an interesting season for Wabash.  Second year for the new HC, OC, and DC which is nice, but there are a lot of holes to fill from graduation and there's not one QB on the roster currently that has thrown a pass in a college football game.  So we'll see.  Wabash could win the league or they could finish fourth.  Anything in that range wouldn't surprise me.

And I'd also love to see the Gentlemen's Classic series get rebooted from time to time.  I think it's a cool series and something unique to these two institutions.  Would be fun to spin that thing up for a home and home every 4-6 years.

Practiced. There was a scrimmage aspect but no real tackling from either side. Very quick whistles. From what I hear it went well.

Hasa, barring any major emergencies or catastrophes my wife and I will be there early tailgating. Look for a black Nissan Frontier pickup and red canopy with white trim.

Go Hawks!

Thanks, Hawks88.  I wrote down the description of your vehicle in my calendar for Sept. 2.  I'll make an effort to find you.  Cliff and I will probably arrive in my gray Audi A4, which will have NC tags.

Hey, y'all. I'm a recently graduated player from the SAA and I've just moved to DC. I'm really interested in checking out the two teams in the city when the season gets going. Anyone here been to a game at Catholic/Gallaudet that can speak to the atmosphere/experience?

CUA had the worst tailgating in the ODAC. They will not allow tailgating before 11:00 and they do not allow tailgating after the game. They also don't have visitors stands. I know nothing of Gallaudet.
