I have a very hard time believing anything that ranks HSC as worst in ODAC. Time will tell, but based on returning players, zero coaching turnover, and my biases HSC will be in the title hunt in November. HSC went 3-4 last year with the worst defense they've probably ever played. This year's team is most definitely better than last year's.

I'm not going to lie, I'm having an issue with that too. Time will tell, but HSC had enough horses last year to stay well out of the bottom of the ODAC. I'd be very much surprised if they sunk down that low this year. But, I do think this year is likely to have an incredible amount of parity. Even more than usual. Without a team like Catholic, or a dominant team, it feels like a true food fight. The difference between first, and seventh, could be 4-2 versus 2-4, with a whole lot of ugly A beat B, but B beat C, and C beat A, and D beat them all, but lost to E and F, who lost to all of them except and G, who went 3-3.

HSC scrimmages Greensboro College today in Richmond.  Any other teams scrimmaging today?  I heard Guilford scrimmaged Ferrum and W&L scrimmaged Brevard.  I heard Ferrum and GC was basically a draw. Any word from others?

Ok, stupid question time. How is Guilford pronounced? I have always pronounced it as Gilford with the first part sounding the same as guilt. The USA South has been releasing team previews one a day for the last week and a half and finally got to Huntingdon today. At the end when the girl was telling who our first game is against she pronounce it Gulford with the first part sounding like gull. Which one is correct?

You've been saying it correctly - the announcer was wrong and had not done her research.  Wish they would hire people familiar with the teams.    There are both a Guilford and a Guildford in England, so the early settlers named Guilford County, NC in honor of Guilford, England.  There is also a Guilford, CT.  The "U" is essentially silent.  It is pronounced as "Gil" as in "guilt" not "guile" as in "beguile".  It's also pronounced as "gill" and definitely not as "gull".  Hope this helps.

I'm somewhat surprised to see Guilford at #86 also.  Perhaps d3football knows, as Quaker fans know, that 2016 was a bit of an aberration after Bell got hurt.  Guilford actually went 1-6 in the ODAC in 2016, by trouncing Catholic, but did lose their last 6 in 2016, which was 0-6 against the current ODAC membership.

How d3football came up with their rankings is a mystery. GC 86 and 3rd best in ODAC while they rank HSC 123 and last.  It may all work out exactly as predicted. But based on returning players and coaches it has no merit. GC loses more in their 2 deep from last season than any other ODAC team other than RMC.

The top ODAC team is within 50 spots of the bottom team. No other conference is that highly ranked *and* that tightly packed.

It was HSC who lost the leagues best RB (Koonce). Still found a way to win 3 conference games. If Guilford laid down last year because of 1 player getting hurt then shame on them. Guilford fans cried boo-hoo in 2015 when its only loss came after QB got hurt. It gets old to keep blaming losses on injuries. Every team has them. No one cares
