FB: Old Dominion Athletic Conference

HSC played very well against Greensboro in the Rally in Richmond yesterday. A few highlights: Cobb threw 12/13 0 picks and 3 TDs. Defense played very well. Included a few jarring hits from NC State transfer Brenden Weinberg from his outside LBer position.  It was an excellent tune up for the season opener.

I wouldn't say playing Greensboro is much of a tune up. More of a confidence builder.

Tune up, confidence builder, whatever. You play the team in front of you.  Better than scout team. No injuries.  Should be ready to roll Saturday.

I can say I've bought and read Kickoff and I still don't think HSC will finish last. Though as most of the blurbs indicate, the whole damn conference could go 3-3 against each other this year and not too many would be surprised. The difference between team 6 and team 1 just isn't much, and that makes putting them in order a fool's game. Pat and crew offer to be those fools every year and, while I don't always agree, I appreciate the effort they put in. The season will tell and it's fun to argue about now, but it's almost time for the rubber to meet the road. I'm hoping the ODAC does well OOC and when the silly season ends we can settle in for some good, competitive games... that W&L win!

damn Tigerfan ease up; Tigers earned the 123 ranking, now it's time to prove 2016 was a fluke.

I was working the event Saturday so did not see much of the scrimmage, but I did notice HSC defense is much better; bigger, stronger, faster, deeper.
Offensive line is huge, but did not see one offensive play.

Great atmosphere Saturday; close to 1500 people, plenty of cold beer served, band started seconds after the final play. Party ended later that afternoon. It was  an impressive event and a real indication HSC fans/team/coaches are ready for the 2017 kickoff. I believe this HSC team has the potential to be pretty damn good.

Maybe look at it as a predicted t-5th in the ODAC instead of last.  You might be less grumpy that way.

The difference here is that jk said he bought and read Kickoff.   I'm going to assume you have by now.  The d3 guys give up time and money to cover this sport and they do it because they love the sport.  The kickoff fee is worth it:  then we don't have Pat on the website, with hat in hand all year. 

It was completely unfair the guilt you tried to lay upon Pat.  Of course he didn't know what was going on with you. 

I lost my 38 year old brother last week, suddenly and I'm not throwing it people's faces when I have a disagreement with them.

Sorry for the loss of your brother.  It's my first time losing someone so close. It's not been easy. But my dad had been sick for a while, I could not imagine losing a sibling. 

I know Pat did not know. All he knew was that I did not purchase Kickoff.  He took the time to look that up. Because I never mentioned it. He could have also looked up that I have bought it each of the last 7 years or so. I acknowledged all their work and how much it was appreciated by D3 fans. I simply took issue with 2 things:  HSC last place ranking and his trying to shame me in to buying it. I totally disagree with both. I never bashed their hard work. Aren't these boards for discussing counter arguments?  If I wanted everyone to agree with everything I wrote I'd head over to NCAC board and post how wonderful anything Wabash is. I sure that remark will get me dinged a little but that's ok.

I'll never understand why people need to use football as a reason to be mad about stuff.  I mean, I'm genuinely sorry you've had a rough go here lately, but to get this bent out of shape over the preseason ranking of your favorite football team is such a waste.  It's supposed to be recreation, man.  Relax and enjoy it.  And when HSC wins the ODAC this year, you can have a week long Post Patterns parade about how wrong the Kickoff guys are.  It'll be a blast.
