tigerFan, I sure as hell hope you are right and I love your confidence; so when was the last time (Guilford last year does not count) did our defense hold a team under 20 points ?

I thought were supposed to forget about 2016. New Day I'm feeling good about this team.

Week one predictions for odac ? You seem to have a handle on the D3 world and I'm always interested as to what your thoughts might be.
I think this year will be real hard on predictions, but I'm willing to play the fool.

JHU beats W&L by 17  41-24
Bridgweater beat Gettsyburg by 10 24-14
RMC beats Dickinson by 21  31-10
E&H beats Ferrum by 10   30-20
HSC beats Averett by 7    35-28
Huntingdon beats Guilford by 17   34-17
Shenandoah beats Gallaudet by 21   28-7
I am leaving for Montgomery in the morning ... hope it's not another monsoon like last year's game at HSC ... go away Harvey!

Your drive will be wet, but Saturday in Montgomery looks pretty good. Only a 10% chance of rain and mid 80s. Even 65% humidity won't be too bad. If that weather holds, I'll be there to join you though I might be a little depressed following Friday night...

Thanks.  I just did a weather check online and see a prediction for a clear day on Saturday.  Look forward to seeing you ... I'll be with my first cousin who's a long-time resident of Montgomery.

Excellent. Maybe he can make a recommendation for dinner. I almost always eat at the Steak N Shake a few miles north on 65 just as a convenience on my way out of Huntingdon, but something better would be most welcome. And just about anything would be better.

I'm sure he can ... he's lived in the Montgomery area since his USAF days in the 1960s.  Good luck to your Generals tomorrow night versus Johns Hopkins.

My predictions for this week for the ODAC games;

JHU over W&L  35-7
Gettysburg over BC 31-28
RMC over Dickinson 35-10
Ferrum over E&H 35-28
HSC over Averett 45-38
Huntingdon over GC 35-10
SU over Gallaudet  38-7

Good luck to all. I hope all of my picks with an ODAC team losing are wrong

If HSC gives up 38 to Averett, I'd say  the Tigers are in for a long season.   The series average score is 42 to 14.  I expect something like that.

Johns Hopkins offense looks huge compared to W&L's defense. The receivers tower over the DBs and I don't even want to talk about the Oline vs. the Dline. W&L has it's work cut out tonight but started well with a first drive td and a first defensive series stop. Good start for W&L but a long game to go against a team that just makes them look tiny.

  Sorry, couldn't resist.  :)

W&L holds JHU to 9 yards in the first quarter on two possessions. The Blue Jays never earned a first down. W&L scored on their first possession, went 3 and out on the second, and is driving on the third at the end of the first quarter. This is a very different situation from last year when W&L gave up two quick tds on errors and never really found the game. But on both sides of the ball W&L is clearly outweighed. Kind of look like smurfs, but really fast smurfs. Go Generals.

jknezek

Well the first quarter belonged to W&L, the second to JHU. The Bluebirds picked W&L apart through the air with two long drives. On one W&L held them out of the endzone from first and goal at the 1, but still gave up 10 points. A promising W&L drive was snuffed out just before halftime with their first interception of the season.

The Generals will need to defend the pass better in the second half and get back to the rhythm that got them 2 scores in the first 18 minutes.

14-10 W&L at the half.

jknezek

W&L really hurting themselves. Fumbled away a promising drive, a very suspect 15 yard penalty gets JHU out of a 4th and 4 pairs with two early third and 10+ that JHU has converted. W&L really needs to find a way to stop the pass.

#20938
W&L really hurting themselves. After forcing JHU into a 44 yard field goal JHU squib kicks and recovers. The poor General defense is looking gassed. These JHU receivers are darn big, fast, and have good hands. But really, as good as JHU is, they are forcing W&L into mistakes and W&L is making them. The only thing saving W&L right now is JHU is starting to make some penalties. W&L needs the ball and a long drive, because the defense is just being asked to give too much right now.

I don't really feel the Bluejays look like the #13 team in the country. They get bogged down near the goal line, haven't really shown the ability to run the ball, but they have good pieces and you can see if it gels they could be devastating offensively. Defensively for the Jays, W&L moves the ball on them, but then hurts themselves.

16-13 JHU midway through the 3rd. W&L has not scored since early in the second, which isn't so much an indication of being unable to move the ball as 2 huge turnovers killing drives.

jknezek

And W&L makes it look easy by not making mistakes. 20-16 W&L late in the third. Both defenses looking overmatched, the difference W&L has held JHU to field goals, JHU has forced W&L into 2 huge turnovers, the clever kick play, and picked up some huge third and longs. Who wears out first?
